A nice find from my time at the 2009 Queen Elizabeth Competition playing Wieniawski' Variations on an Original Theme! Composed in 1854, the variations include pretty much every technical challenge you can throw at a violinist- octaves, artificial harmonics, up-bow staccato, and even simultaneous left-hand pizzicato and bowed playing! It’s a violin workout, but also gorgeous music.
