5:05 everyone should read the book, “Who Ate the First Oyster,” bc it talks about the most important inventions/discoveries throughout hominid history, and the first entry is…. *drumroll please* ….a baby sling! Bc it allowed early hominid women to strap a baby to their front & carry on with finding food, shelter, etc. That allowed babies to be born before they were fully cooked, bc they were now able to be born completely helpless, and continue brain development without their heads getting too big to come out, while also not getting eaten by giant eagle things (which were real, actual predators of early hominids like “Lucy,” who was for a while the earliest hominid ever discovered). It’s such a fascinating book that raises some incredible ideas!!
