Noam chomsky is a genius, with an extremely high iq, most people barely have the iqs to be a firefighter, or a plove officer(I belive its around 110),what do you expect? Most people are dumb, and thier future is a dead end 9-5 job.
@JMLatvala92
@JMLatvala92 5 жыл бұрын
@@NICKTA78 IQ probably has very little to do with Noam's brilliance, and I believe he would agree with that. It's rather his awareness that we as humans are biased, and he did a lot not to be by reading for his whole life, and the second, probably more important is his brilliance at judgement. I. Kant wrote, that "judgement is a peculiar talent that can only be practiced and cannot be taught" and that "no school can make up for it's lacking". Aristotle told us that Judgement (phronesis) is the single most important faculty of the mind when you are living amongst people. This will probably only make sense to you if you can distinguish between thinking and judgement (for most people, thinking is a more general term, but if you read history, you might see that not long ago people used the word differently - from a time perspective, thinking deals with what is, and judgement concerns matters of the past), or even better for this particular case, between Judgement and rational thinking - the latter is measured by IQ tests and has very little to do with either thinking or judgement. And this is the reason why you have people with very high IQ and who are good at math or other natural sciences, but know very little about politics or history.

@@kamilien1 You know what, I agree with that. I love Noam and own several of his books that I gladly paid for and enjoyed reading. I also agree with a lot of what he says. On this video however I believe he has contradicted himself; There is a famous quote attributed to him, also a favorite of mine... " If we do not believe in freedom of expression for those we despise, we do not believe in it at all". With that in mind and remembering his middle comment about FB targeting advertising for the "neo-fascist" party - personally I cannot see the issue. That is how Facebook works. They do the same for the other parties that have paid for adverts, so why does he disagree with that one political party being afforded the same treatment? Especially as he conceeded that state censorship and surveillance is a worry at the beginning of the video.

@@TomTom-xp2jb These situations that arise in our existence are necessary to move the ones who are chosen by the Father and creator of the universe. Through these adversities the chosen ones will be moved to seek truth, it is for our learning and growth. We are not here to change the World, we cannot change the World, it is what it is. We are instructed by the Father of creation to come out from the World. When we find Truth, we also discover His Kingdom. We are given free will by our creator, the power to choose our own destiny, we are instructed to chose wisely. What is truth you may ask, and I will quote; "I am the way the Truth and the light." (I am is Yah. YHVH) Yahshua means I am Salvation. I do not speak of religion, in religion is deception. We do not need Religion to find Truth or the Kingdom, the Kingdom is within us, in the heart and in the mind. "And I will give them one heart, and a new spirit I will put within them. I will remove the heart of stone from their flesh and give them a heart of flesh," Ezekiel 11:19 "This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Father, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;" Hebrews 10:16. Thomas the apostle of Yahshua wrote in his letters showing us the nature of the Kingdom, and he wrote; Yahshua said, "If those who lead you say to you, 'See, the kingdom is in the sky,' then the birds of the sky will precede you. If they say to you, 'It is in the sea,' then the fish will precede you. Rather, the kingdom is inside of you, and it is outside of you. When you come to know yourselves, then you will become known, and you will realize that it is you who are the sons of the living father. But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty." "Let him who seeks continue seeking until he finds. When he finds, he will become troubled. When he becomes troubled, he will be astonished, and he will rule over the All."

The very fact that we as civilians just fold our arms and give up is EXACTLY the problem and reason why it is happening. it's called the 1% bc it's ONE PERCENT of the population. That means 99% of us could unite and overthrow, undermine, and/or eliminate the ruling class at any time. We simply choose not to... We choose to bend over. Only ourselves to blame for being cowards.

@@lucalone and plutocracy is better than totalitarianism: the end of Noam Chomsky's philosophical cud-chewing. Noam and his sainted Left cannot abide democracy - once give them a majority and they would outlaw everything else because (listen to him, listen to the tone as well as the content) he believes he has the One True Way. This is the central flaw in socialism as an ideology rather than a tool - it can't believe it's not right and turns on anyone who questions it with paranoia and the police state. We will keep Google and Facebook in line with the Rule of Law not socialism. Democracy also is merely a tool to rid ourselves of inept and immoral governments without bloodshed: as far as consensus there is none. If you have a mobile phone, you are being tracked. That's unavoidable, it's how the technology works: In order for you to receive calls, the service provider must know where your phone is so the call can be directed to it. But that is just the phone service. The manufacturer wants to track you, too. And Google, and Facebook, and thousands of other surveillance advertisers. That is not technically necessary, so they have to provide "incentives", like for example the ability to find your phone via _their_ website in case you lose it.

None of this should be surprising to anyone. Everytime you download a new app in the Android OS there's a permission notification about what you're giving up for privacy. This can access everything from your camera, photos, contacts, microphone, etc.... Android has a privacy settings section where you can turn any of this access off. Blackberrys are great for blocking access of your apps to your personal information (which I use). But this is not enough to shut Google or others out of your personal information altogether. There's a KZbin channel called "The Hated One" where they go a lot deeper into protecting your information.

The problem is that your phone is not yours, it's the manufacturer's. They control what you can do with it, which is why accessing camera and microphone is a privacy issue. If it was yours, if you had full control over it, that wouldn't be an issue. But then the terrorists would have won, or something.

wasn't there a book titled "propagenda" written in the 1920s before manufacturing consent?
@davidwuhrer6704
@davidwuhrer6704 2 ай бұрын
In the 1920s, the term "propaganda" was used by anarchists to describe ideas worth spreading, what today we would call memes. (Like "breadpilling".) It was a good thing. Then the right extremists copied it for spreading their own ideas. Because to the right, the content is replaceable. Where propaganda used to be a way to make people aware of political facts and the power of solidarity, it became synonymous with lies and disinformation.

He is humble and practical ,never self-righteous or intellectually pretentious. I must see if there are any Susan Sontag filmed lectures. I know we have tapes. Camille Paglia was manic hoot but sensible,arch and a little inconclusively reaching. Christopher Hitchens was lively, lovely and sensible but a bit harsh.

How is saying that corporations are different from nation states black and white thinking? It's certainly more nuanced than washing over the critical differences to make this US / China comparison. It sounds like you're mapping corporations onto "us" and the Chinese government onto "them", in service of being snarky on the internet. I don't know about you, but I'm neither.

@Neo Sannyasin Yes. We very much have the choice to attend a corporate microchip party, volunteer our information on a private social media platform, or do none of those. The tech is voluntary. The collection is voluntary. And, how your information is used is governed by voluntary agreements. I'm not saying that it couldn't be used malevolently (though a corporation has much more to lose if such actions are discovered). Just saying that it's very different if someone has opted in, because it is rooted in free choice.

"We’re talking about the fate of a whole planet. Why are people so polite? Why are they so patient? Why are they so patient? Why are they so forgiving of gangsterism and betrayal? It’s very difficult to understand. I believe that it’s because the dominator culture is increasingly more and more sophisticated in its perfection of subliminal mechanisms of control. And I don’t mean anything grandiose and paranoid, I just mean that through press releases and sound bites and the enforced idiocy of television, the drama of a dying world has been turned into a soap opera for most people. And they don’t understand that it’s their story, and they will eat it in the final act if somewhere between here and the final act they don’t stand up on their hind legs and howl. " -Terence Mckenna turn these platforms against themselves spread the word.
