Dude. Just because you put intricate parts in a song doesn't make it an automatic hit. As much as Gamb was messing up and off tempo. There's no way you can claim they won. Honestly to be non bias, i was disappointed in all bands except for maybe Dallas. Maybe. Gamb was playing boring songs and had tempo issues. Noasb had some tempo issues and messed up coming back in. MAAB felt they had a point to prove and was playing over everyone and that got old real fast and it was pissing people off. However, i will say it was 1 boring song Gamb was playing and MAAB cut through it and people were happy they did. Both Gamb and NOASB messed up running back a song they didn't need to. This battle was good i guess you can say but would have been better with just NOASB and GAMB without all the interruptions and distractions.

The truth is that GAMB has a original book that separates them from any band that they face and of course people who ride for NOASB will say things like GAMB song selections are boring, it’s so obvious that every time GAMB does something different and excel in that area all of a sudden everyone wants to become critique experts and try their best to pick out the quote on quote bad as if everyone is perfect. Every program has its strengths and weaknesses but don’t try to dumb down greatness when it’s evident because you’re bitter from a band that came and executed and entertained and provided a different sound and a variety of skill sets through dynamic contrast and articulation.

I wonder if it was originally suppose to be a three way battle between NOASB, GAMB and MAAB and MAAB got there and were told to play against Dallas and Regulators. That's the only reason I can see things being handled the way they were.

This is summer band with limited time. New Orleans and Houston created the summer band circuit. And they started off using a mix of college, high school, and original arrangements. That's how it started and that's how it's going to stay. No late bloomers are gonna change that criteria. Lol. New Orleans has consistently put on the biggest and most viewed summer band event for 10+ years and always does at least 2 battles every year.

This battle was apples and oranges for me. It was all over the place; the preparation for these bands were completely different. Georgia sounded good and was very polished. Their songs featured musicianship but crank songs were weak. I loved the first song by them in the stands the syncopated rhythm was great and the riff to the bridge by upper brass in the boy is mine was excellent. Mississippi aggregated the hell out of me. They wanted to play for everybody, and the hang overs with missed notes were plentiful. They didn't quite have the magic they had when they battled Memphis. New Orleans came to party and crank but didn't have any technical pieces like Georgia. So it was a matter of preference if you wanted musicianship Georgia was your band; if you wanted feel good popular music then New Orleans was your band. It was a draw for me you can't compare the two. Dallas had a nice sound as well but were overshadowed and overpowered. I kinda felt like that scene on drumline with that battle between Morris Brown and Atlanta A&T give them a little flight of the bumblebee. Georgia was kinda putting me to sleep a bit but they were great.

What I liked about the battle was the discipline Gamb and N.O showed when Maab was being childish. There should be rules... do not play when its not your turn. Great discipline Gamb and N.O im super hard on yall and MMB. Facts are facts Gamb came with what they did in 22. Musicality with a bit of ratchetness and some fineness tunes with togetherness. Not a bunch of ppl trying to out blow like New Orleans. New Orleans didn't sound bad but the book wasn't up to par. Remember if MMB didn't have those mess ups the battles would have a different outcome. But Kudos to Gamb for being the GA we all like. Better bring yall ass to Memphis next year for the return trip you owe us. We will be traveling to New Orleans in 25. There needs to be a 4way battle set up MMB, MAAB, GA, and New Orleans somewhere. Someone make this happen. My favorite tunes were the Cowboy Bee bop tune from GA and the Maxwell song from N.O.

NOLA got WASHED. GMAB has a fuller more holistic sound. They play as a more complete unit especially in the upper brass. NOLA did clean up from their earlier events but GA is a different animal.

For future reference if a band is already playing(GAMB) have some band etiquette and wait your damn turn (MAAB) The worst thing a band can do is (TRY) and play while another band is already playing, wasn’t even worth it, it’s more to band than just loud omg have some damn DYNAMIC CONTRAST and make the music actually entertaining for the audience and not yo selfish self to try and see IF YOU MIGHT BE LOUDER! I appreciate the directors for giving these kids something positive to do over the summer. However I cannot see what all of the hype is about these bands. They’re all the same. No one is doing anything different. Everyone has a breakdown where the cymbal players are twirling uncoordinated, tuba break, loud and uncontrolled overblowing, dancers doing the exact same moves, drummers playing the exact same beats, same attacks and releases. Real talk no one stands out. You can literally close your eyes and listen. You’ll not hear a difference between any of them. They ALL SOUND THE SAME!

Best overall band this summer & #1 crank song was MAAB and then GAMB. GAMB & especially NOASB first “stand” song was 🗑️. GAMB’s song at 4:31:33 started off nice but it quickly became boring. MAAB out cranked GAMB at 4:42:38. GAMB the boy is mine was their best song all night. After a while all of NOASB songs started to mumble and sound a like and their percussion section should just give up.
