ravens nest to me,wod was just underutilised. They cut out so much shit to the point that all we have left were just halfassed results of their original ideas with only one new mechanic that they finished ala the garrisons. The garrisons wouldnt have been a problem had the game not only have the garrisons as content

I think we can all agree that content wise, WoD was.....bad....to say it nicely :P! I do however think that the leveling zones in WoD was better than Legion (estetichally and the quests). Unfortunately the leveling process is only a small part of the game now...

An evolution caused more by supernatural alteration of the original creature than by natural selection.

ok yes true but im more concerned by the fact that so many previous generation species exist at once. if it were just orc, ogres and maybe ogron then fine thats kinda similar to what we have now with cats, canines and fish. but the fact that there's five at once is what's crazy to me considering wows at least made their evolu. lines make sense b4 or are there dark trolls left that didnt become night elves?

@StormsparkPegasus7 жыл бұрын
It wasn't really evolution. Grond was basically a giant elemental, when pieces fell off of him they animated due to elemental forces and became smaller weaker elementals. Pieces fell of those and became yet smaller weaker elementals. Elementals are magic by nature so they don't fit the normal rules for evolution. Now, as far as magnaron - gronn - ogron - ogre - orc, that's not evolution at all. When the last sporemound died, it release a bunch of magic spores inbued with the element of life (the sporemounds had basically stolen the element of life from the planet in order to grow). Some of the magnaron were hit by these, turning them into gronn. The magic persisted in the environment. Only magnaron in a certain area were affected, and they became gronn. Some of the gronn left, the ones that stayed devolved into ogron. Some ogron left, the ones that stayed devolved into ogres. Some ogres left, the ones that stayed evolved into orcs. By the time of the orcs the magic had faded (the spirit of life basically being reabsorbed into the environment). Gronnlings are just adolescent gronn. I'll just assume the goren came from small pieces that fell off the surviving magnaron (those that weren't devolved). The last sporemound that died became Farahlon (the one that released the sores), so the evolution would've been related to how close relatively to Farahlon you were.

I love this combining of original Draenor and AU. I mean if WoD did something right is that they managed to established some of the mythology around Draenor that the original story never established. The best we ever know was about the Orc culture and that our greatest extend of draenor lore.
@Freeasacar7 жыл бұрын
When he releases his video about the new official lore of the orcish clans and warchiefs you'll see there's barely any combining, most of it has been retconned and almost the stuff we saw on AU Draenor is now canon besides all the technology that Garrosh brought with him. Basically just think of it the same but with less technology coming from the Blackrocks. It gets a little different when we get to the Azeroth side at the time but some stuff there has been changed too and it even gets a bit closer to the Warcraft movie canon.
@thinhvo38937 жыл бұрын
I mean most of the original lore doesn't really explained much about Draenor beside the orchish culture and even some of those stuff aren't even consistent half of the time. Also yeah I do see a lot of retcon according to the forum (haven't bought my chronicle yet) and I myself hated retcon but as long as it doesn't affect the flow of the character in the story and give more substances where the original did not then I'm in. What are some of the change I would like to know.
@Xanofar7 жыл бұрын
Ehh, I'd say it's more like they re-wrote the story than enhanced/expanded upon it, sort of like Legion and the Illidari.
@thinhvo38937 жыл бұрын
Xanofar Legion and illidari is the whole fuckery of its own. Whereas Draenor retcon was a mean for Blizzard to step foot and create a define structure for the Warcraft universe, Illidari and Illidan retcon was nothing beside a shitty attempt to paint Illidan in a better light than he actually was while dumb down other existing character for the sake of, well, Illidan.

Well then, eagerly awaiting that arakkoa video some day! They're by far my favorite race and their history is super fleshed out. But I had gone into Chronicle knowing I would love the arakkoa, because I always had. What surprised me about the book was how much it made me like the ogres too. Before WoD I hadn't cared for them, didn't hate or like them just didn't care, and during WoD I didn't like the empire and preferred them being slaves to gronn like BC. But Chronicle definitely turned my opinion on the empire around. Ogres are cool! I also really liked the origin of Draenor. Rocks vs plants is honestly a pretty unique origin story, at least as far as I know. And I'm super glad there wasn't any Old Gods involved because frankly I've gotten really tired of them lately.

The orcs kinda have similarities with the human race, which degenerates from the vrykul (originally of the Titanforge) and become one of the dominant races on the very world they reside. While the arakkoa have some similarities with the elven races which evolves directly from primitive beings and later become the most intelligent race on the planet.

Wow I didn't realize that the Wowhead link led to an article that actually has a transcript of the videos with references and relevant links. I never did any of the arakkoa stuff and wanted to read more, because they sounded interesting despite not being mentioned much. I clicked the link and could find the stuff you were talking about without having to search for it. That is actually ridiculously useful. I thought the Wowhead thing was just a sponsorship that was kind of irrelevant to the viewers and the link just went to the site's homepage, but this is way cooler.

I was doing the Dalaran coin fishing achievements, and some of the coins' wishes seem normal but are really cool, really funny, or just really sad when you look into the lore (I was not expecting the Arugal one, lol. The wish seemed so innocent...) Maybe you could make a video explaining the lore behind some of the wishes on the coins from the Dalaran fountain! (I'm talking about the Northrend one, btw, I know the Broken Isles one has a coin achievement too but my main isn't high enough to go to Broken Isles yet so I don't know if they have wishes with all that lore background too although they probably do.) I think it would be really cool, I've had a lot of fun exploring the background behind these wishes. (If you've done this already, sorry, I haven't watched all your videos yet... but if not I think it could be fun. Of course you don't have to, it's just a suggestion...)

There are two things I'm curious about. 1: I thought that the leylines in Azeroth were basically the titan's blood, and the reason that Azerothians can perform magic is because of the titan soul inside. So, if that's true, how are there leylines and magic on Draenor? Or is that just wrong? 2: In Outlands, in Shadowmoon Valley, there can be found a tentacle of an Old God in a felpool. Why is that there if Draenor has no Old Gods?

That is really cool. I like how there is an elemental rocky side and a lively plant side. It reminds me of shamans and druids respectively. Since orcs come from the rocky side, it does make sense for them to tap into the elements and becomes shamans. I figured that out before the video got to the part of ogres becoming shamans. The dranei can be shamans too. This probably because they stayed in Dranor for a while and they tapped the elemental source too. That is amazing that the plant side can actually have communication networks among individual plants. There is a collective mind. That reminds me of Avatar. Avatar is a lot like WoW actually. When I first saw promotional pictures for Avatar, I thought "Wow. Those aliens look just like draenei." When I watch the movie, I learned they are called na'vi. They also bear a strong resmblence to Native Americans especially with the Pocahontas story. The Native American coding is like the tauren. I can even imagine the Na'vi haing all four of the origional tauren classes. They have a powerful bond with nature, with is like druid and shaman. They hunt animal prey and bond with animal companions, like hunter. They have warriors willing to fight enemies, like warrior. I even wonder if James Cameron played WoW and got inspired by it. The pretty glowy jungle in Avatar is a little like Azremist Isle or Terrokar Forest. Maybe there is a mix of Teledrassil in there somewhere. One part in Avatar that is compelling is the network of trees creating a goddes called Eywa. I just learned that WoW has something like that in the Dranor lore. May Eywa was based on that as well as the night elf goddess Elune. Maybe the home tree that Na'vi lived on was based on Teledrassil. I wonder. The most devastating part of Avatar is when the humans destroy home tree. Sylvanas does the same thing to Teledrassil, and it was also a shock. To be fair Avatar beat WoW to the tree burning. So it can't borrow from WoW on that. The lore of Dranor gives me a great idea. Druid is an awesome class but it isn't widely available. First only the night elves and tauren have it. Then the worgan and the trolls have it. With the lore, I came up with two more races. The orcs and draenei have long been able to tap into the rock and elements of Dranor to become shamans. Then in a new time, some of them tapped into the plants of Draenor instead. They got a host of powers over life. They gain plant powers to heal. Then they can shapshift to alien creatures and gain powers to tank and do melee damage. They even tapped into the stars and outer space of Dranor. Dranor was an alien planet after all. Tapping into this gained arcane powers to do spell damage. These new orcs and dranei became druids as a result of the plant power. In the game mechanics, the druid class becomes availiable to orc and dranei races. Both races get help with their nearby allies, which are also druids. These allies teach the druid ways. The dranei get help from the night elves and worgen. The druid class supports the dranei efforts to take care of the environment and help it recover from the Exodar crash. The orcs get help from the tauren and trolls. These are the three Horde races bonded in being the only shamans of vanilla, and then they are further bonded by being the only Horde druids. Interestingly, these are all the Kalmidor races except for goblins. Goblins exploit and ruin nature. So they could not gain the right natural connections to be a druid. Goblins can be shamans though, and that makes no sense to me. In the new druids, the forms can be alien animals. It is like the alien life in avatar. That would be cool. Dranei forms tend to be sleeker with blue and purple colors. Orc forms tend to be bulkier with green and brown colors. An alien cat could be the rogue form. An alien rhino or bear can be the warrior form. An alien horse can be the running travel form. An alien dragon or "banshee" can be the flying travel form. The alien tree can be the special priest form. The orcs can be a tree like those in Gorgrond or Tanaan Jungle. The dranei can be a tree like those in Azurmist Isle or Terokkar Forest. An arokora or anthro bird can be the special mage form. This is for two reasons. One is that the arokoa look a lot like moonkin, which is the special mage form for the other druid races. The other is that the arokoa did have arcane magic like mages and mage-like druids. I am looking forward to the Avatar sequals. I do hear there is going to be some underwater stuff. So if there are aquatic aliens, that would be great for the swimming travel form.

With your videos, I've managed to get into the lore more seriously since about a year ago, so first off thank you very much for that I love your videos. But I feel I might still be a little confused about the way power works in this game. Like where do, for example, mages or necromancers draw their power from? I get where priests do for the most part, and warlocks and shamans, but the others elude me.

wow.gamepedia.com/Magic#Order_and_Disorder has some info on the cosmic forces of Warcraft. The story of the apexis and the anivian races of draenor, are they in the chronicle or are they stories pulled from WoD itself?
@123Sunwell7 жыл бұрын
WoD and chronicle are from the same concept. No need to separate them that completely.
@Greatot7 жыл бұрын
Wait wait wait, no Old Gods? They just retcon it like that after doing all that hinting in the Spires of Arak? Shame, that was such an interesting little story.
@khalduras7847 жыл бұрын
Greatot There werent really any real hints. Just void-like magic and speculations made by fans who tried to connect it with that one old-god like quest in TBC
@Greatot7 жыл бұрын
+Khalduras You missed it. There was a point at which it says Anzu talked to some creatures in the "deep" and found them "dull, witless creatures", really couldn't mean much else than Old Gods.
@CallMeNoa7 жыл бұрын
It could mean plenty besides Old Gods. And it never even said the ones he spoke to were on Draenor either.
@Greatot7 жыл бұрын
+Reign Well I'm clueless as to what else that could have meant, so please explain. And yes of course it means the ones he spoke to are on Dreanor, I don't remember exactly how the description went, but I'm half certain it said the creatures were specifically in the "depths" of the planet, and I don't think Anzu has the capability to travel to other planets. Or to talk to Old Gods on other planets.

I personally loved leveling up in Draenor. The zones and dungeons were very beautiful. Unfortunately, that's the only good thing the expansion did. Everything else sucked elephant balls, and the Ashan PvP was a fucking abomination of a clusterfuck nightmare.

With the picture of the clans, the stormreavers do not show up, have they been retconned?
@CallMeNoa7 жыл бұрын
Stormreavers were always made by Gul'dan after they went to Azeroth.
@ZanathKariashi7 жыл бұрын
they weren't. They were originally a clan of devoted orc sailors, but Gul'dan decided he wanted a clan for himself since he wanted to distance himself from the Shadowmoon and took it over after their clan leader had been speaking out against him (supposedly), and turned it into a warlock heavy clan, while the craftsmen and sailors were sent to other clans.

Ok, I've watched these ordering stories several times now and I'm calling bullshit. Titans don't directly intervene with the planet because they are supposedly too big to do so without causing damage to it but at the same time they are can create some very delicate and small creatures and items to represent them. I refuse to believe that they couldn't for example cast a small fire spell that's hot enough to burn organic matter but at the same time not hot enough to melt rock. They're supposed to be nearly omniscient and omnipotent yet all they can think of is "I create this creature smaller than my fingernail and give it small spark of my power." That's just ridiculous. For beings like that there must be infinite number of ways to deal with small matters like some plant monster that's probably size of a fly compared to them. We humans are still quite primitive creatures but almost everyone of us can swat a fly without destroying the surface it's on and we don't need superpowers to perform that miracle. And don't even get me started about Aman'Thul ripping Old God out of the planet. How did it never occur to any one of the titans that there may be some middle ground between not touching anything directly and just ruthlessly ripping your enemies out of the planet? They could have probably just pinched all 4 of them like they were popping some massive zits and the battle would have been over instantly. I must say I liked the lore more when Old Gods were actually stronger than Titans because that gave much better reason why things are like they are now.

Nobbel, what happend at The temple of Karabor in this time line? How did it become The black temple? I guess Velen didn't die defending it;)
@RileyRivalle27 жыл бұрын
+Magnus Åhström This is the original timeline, so it became the Black Temple as depicted in the 2.1 patch trailer.
@Magnus89097 жыл бұрын
Okey, let me try be more specific. In this timeline(original) what happened at the battle of Karabor? i.e. the fall of Karabor. When the orcs took over, post Draenei and pre Black citadel with Mannoroth. If i'm remembering the story right from the book 'Rise of the horde' they fled from Shattrath, leaving people behind to die so it would look like to the horde that they killed all of 'em. And then fled to Karabor or did they flee from Karabor first.. hmm.. So what i'm really wondering about i guess it what happened and in which order did it happened in this (original) time line. Was it Fall of Karabor migration to Shattrath and then Fall of Shattrath or the reverse? :)
@123Sunwell7 жыл бұрын
Temple first, then Shattrath.

he's always been pretty laid back and relatively content until Kiljaeden came into the picture. It wasn't till everything turned to shit and he was sick and tired of being on a slowly dying rock of a world and now being opposed by invaders from Azeroth, that he finally snapped and turned iron-fisted dictator.

And after he became the lich king he rebelled against the legion eventually, which is a pretty brave (or stupid) thing to do.

Nothing on the Saberon? And there were some strong hints of at least one old god in Draenor, specially on things revolving the Arakkoa and Anzu. It's a pitty they have dismissed it =/ And this timeline is not fitting. Didn't the draenei arrived around 200 years prior to the Dark Portal? Then how the Frost Wolves were led by Garad prior to that?
@Sean-df3dv7 жыл бұрын
So what exactly is 'flesh' in the Warcraft universe? Originally, I thought it was a curse that only the Old Gods and possibly the Voidlords could give. But now that we know there was no old gods on draenor, how exactly did the colossals evolve into fleshy creatures? Does the spirit of life have the power to turn the Titan made creatures into fleshy creatures just like the Old gods?
@cooltv27767 жыл бұрын
it had something to do with those plant spores. the titans use creatures of stone and metal. The old gods corrupted the azeroth creations with flesh. plant spores corrupted the stone creatures of draenor to be half stone and half flesh, then corrupted those to be even more flesh, and again and again until the final result (orcs and possibly ogres) were completely flesh

I have a question, what sentient beings; if any; evolved in Azeroth before the old gods and the Titans came to it.
@RileyRivalle27 жыл бұрын
+joresgon The elementals with their lords are the original inhabitants of Azeroth before the Old Gods and Titans came. No other forms of life have been confirmed to be as old or older than they.
@blankymcblankface7 жыл бұрын
+Riley Rivalle Trolls aren't Titan creations though, right? Where did they come from? O.o
@ZanathKariashi7 жыл бұрын
they're titan creations. The elementals were all that existed prior to old gods. the old gods created the Aqir and Kathraxi. The titans created absolutely everything else which either evolved into something else naturally, due to exposure to well of eternity, experimentation by the keepers in places like Un'goro, or infection by the old gods. Trolls and Elves both came from the same source though elves took a different path due to exposure to the well and chose to stay around it, while the trolls split off and further split into subtle variances due to environmental pressures of where their various empires lay.
@wildin81567 жыл бұрын
ZanathKariashi Incorrect. Trolls and Tauren weren't titan creations but were the Native species of Azeroth
@ZanathKariashi7 жыл бұрын
NOTHING on Azeroth is natural except the elements. It was an unlivable ball of raw energy and chaotic elements and matter until the old gods arrived and tried to infect it, stabilizing it into something they could integrate with. there was no non-elemental life period until the Old Gods came and shed their minions, and the tauren and trolls AREN'T old god cast offs so they HAD to evolve from the wild things created by the keepers following the black-empire period which means they are 100% titan creations. All of the wild gods are titan creations by proxy (created by the keepers and their overseers), born from holding areas like Un'goro, which eventually split off due to primordial magics and developed into the beast-kin races like the Tauren, Pandarian, Quill'boar etc.
