I know it's part of an alliance with Ford but it looks very like the Transit, question is do they share the same engine and if so is it a VW engine or Ford. It's quite expensive too at €40k

It’s called a Shuttle in the UK. I owned a T5 version of one. It was a nine seater and I removed the last row to give more boot capacity. A great family vehicle.

Different? Typical badge engineering I would say. VW has given up its unique selling points of the Transporter-line. A real shame.

You can see why, given the market conditions, the Transporter had to amalgamate with the Transit. Works for those in the market for a builders/delivery van -wanting an 'upgrade' in badge over the Ford Transit. Not sure all the Transporter camper van conversion enthusiasts will take to it quickly. Then again, there's probably too little money for VW in those camper conversion enthusiasts.

The all new transwagon which oddly to me looks like it should be sporting a Renault badge?? 🤨 The old T4 and T5 look 500x better. I'd rather have either a proper Transporter or a proper transit. The custom looks really nice. More classy than pikey

I’m not a commercial user and I converted my T6 into a camper, not that I’m ready to change but I’m keeping an eye on the market so that I know what’s around. The interior looks nice with some new additions to the T6 that I currently own. The one thing that I cannot get passed is the reputation of the engine, it’s no longer a VW power plant. I have heard nothing but horror stories about it, I do fully understand that often we only hear the negatives and not the positives. I’m sure a lot of it will be to do with maintenance, no engine is reliable without that. Only time will tell I guess, hopefully it won’t be as bad as the reputation.

Servicing early is key with that wet belt and probably a replacement at 100,000kms to be on the safe side!

@ I think only time will tell to be honest. I’m very old school and for me something as critical as a timing belt made of rubber running through hot engine oil is not the best of ideas. All this said I saw a video a few days ago and apparently the VW 2 litre diesel has a rubber oil pump belt running in engine oil too which was an eye opener. I guess in some respects the race to go all electric will negate impacts of IC Engine reliability reputations for all manufacturers. Now that’s a controversial statement 😂🤣.

Transporter drivers have always been a picky sort, same with the caddy Both are just reskinned Transits now with higher running costs 20K service intervals Vs 40K for the custom Good vans but no USP anymore

It’s sad! VW totally destroyed its transporter line which VW has carefully built from the T1 up to the T6.1 series. Now the newest version is just a Ford transit, adapted at only a few details such as the front end, the taillights, the window shape of the doors and that’s it. The new Transporter has been developed by Ford and is build by Ford in its Ford Otosan factory in Turkey! Nothing wrong with the Transit (except for the wet belt enigines maybe), but it’s not a VW! It’s a disgrace that VW has squandered its Transporter lineup and trying to convince its clientele that it’s a ‘real VW’, which couldn’t be farther from the truth. 😮😢

So gutted to see this im not a ford hater but i alway bought Transporter because i wanted a VW the presenter done his best not to slam the door but i would 99% say they are super tinney and light. I also see the rear roof lining gone Im sure they will sell but given a lot of VW buyer bought the vans and paid some extra to have the german feel to the van and yes that has been decreasing over the years since my first T5 in 2005 and the 5 year warranty is all i can see better over the transit i dont think i will be placing an order from vw for this new ford /vw

@filipschrooyen5619 not disagreeing but the decisions they have to make must be like gambling. If you get it wrong you're fcuked. I like the transporter but I also like electric drive trains for the ease and comfort of driving. Not a fan of retro designs like the Buzz it's a bit naff imo. A modern T7 transporter in EV form with good spec is my wish but I don't fancy dropping £70k for one
