I must admit it reminds me in many ways of my Kadjar the way it looks and the MG is far better specced now than what they were, still don't think I'd have one about me but the main things I remember even from Bob Flavin's review of the older one do seem to have been addressed ie the touch screen and the lack of am app to control things. It's very tempting even here in the UK but I think I'm going to hang on for another bit. One thing's for sure it'll be interesting to see how far the electric car world and the infrastructure has moved on (hopefully) when I'm giving it some consideration in about 5 years time. I can say that if things haven't improved significantly I'll drive mine till the wheels fall off it at which point it will not only be the longest I've kept a car for as I usually sell it on before the MOT which in the North is usually around 4 years of age but my car will owe me nothing.

Beware if you are planning on having anyone in the back! We test drove one and even at slow speeds the person in the back gets pinged around. It was so bad when I sat in the back, I actually yanked the seatbelt hard to make sure it would lock in the case of an accident. The back seats need so much more support it's not true. Had to rule the car out regrettably because of it but not all is lost as will end up with the MG5 instead I reckon as that's a far better ride, both front & back.
@zaneverovati2 жыл бұрын
This is exactly what happened to me when I drove a Qashqai for the first time. In my particular case, my wife got thrown around the back seat, but it was simply a matter of getting used to the ride height, as I had only driven compact hatchbacks until then, so I rolled the car around in the beginning.

You will struggle to find a charger in Ireland offering more than 50kW as I have a Tesla and know feom experience plus even when you do get one lf the few higher kW chargers you need to be at very low batgery capacity fornthem to charge any quicker. The lack of 3ph charging is just silly. Most commerical charge stations will be setup at 16a 3ph. It means single phase charging at a at lot of installations will be 3.3kW. It should be mandated that onboard chargers are 3 phase. Its all about electrical load balancing.
@zoltrix77792 жыл бұрын
@Wooly Chewbakker No sorry, I am talking about AC chargers in commercial sites, shopping centres etc. They are much easier to wired as 16a 3ph 11kW. You clearly didn’t read my post.
@zoltrix77792 жыл бұрын
@Wooly Chewbakker it’s nothing to do with faster. Cars with 1ph 7kW chargers are 32A. An 11kW 3phase wired charge station can only supply 16A per phase, meaning the 7kW cars will only get 3.6kW.

@NobbyOnCars2 жыл бұрын
Is the badge important? A full spec ID.3 is a nice idea. If it was a bog standard then an easier choice.
@zaneverovati2 жыл бұрын
@@NobbyOnCars personally, it's not about the badge for me. Had it been the case, I'd steer away from the MG. But I quite like it, as my last couple of ICEs were a Qashqai and an X-Trail, both SUVs with nice visibility and perfect for that kindergarten-grocery run. I now have a Ioniq 28kWh and man is it nice, but the winter range is 165km and it does feel a bit claustrophobic ocmpared to my previous SUVs and so ID.3 comes along with that little extra range that makes it all better and then MG comes along as well with an SUV of the same range as ID.3, but the badge makes me sceptical, so I don't know whether it's worth it. I know what to expect from a Volkswagen, but I don't know what to expect from an MG, to say the least. I drove one once in my life and it was an ICE, the old sporty car that reminded of BMW Z3 back in the day, it was so memorable that I don't even know what model it was.

what an id4 does that this doesn't do: Well I can think of 125kw charging for example. Which is significant if you are going for longer distances. Still great value car! If you want a really unique car the MG5 is much more of a lone wolf without competition.
