Nobels ODR-1 vs Ibanez ts808

For everybody who watches this: the Nobels ODR-1 may be green in colour, but it is *not* a Tubescreamer-style circuit. It is its own thing with a rather natural EQ curve, no mid hump.

It’s every session guitarists secret weapon!! The eq is a high/low eq to relatively scoop or boost mids. Full ccw 1:59 gives you that tube screamer mojo and then some. Best overdrive ever designed. Highly underrated!!

I did a similar shoot-out last night between the new Godlyke Tamura Mod TS808, Timmy v3 and the Nordland ODR-C (original ODR-1 Engineer's Custom Shop). While I love the new Tamura Modded Ibanez TS808, both the Timmy and ODR-C were more usable given the custom nature of their EQ systems. Keep in mind that if you used an EQ Pedal in conjunction with the TS808 you would have much more control to shape your sound but the same can be said against any pedal then. All three pedals were perfect examples of their "breed" but the TS808 has much less to offer by itself IMO. Great demo!

Seems to have less Fizz on the top-end? I'd agree with you. I just purchased a Barber Gain Changer S.R. - and I am flipping-over-it.

Are you aware of the low band cut switch under the name plate? They are installed in modern ODR1 pedals. It takes away the muddy tones at high gains.

Weird comparison, totally different pedals. ODR-1 is way more versatile and organic, works great as a baseline overdrive. The Tubescreamer is a great boost but not the best baseline. The two together is probably great, but everyone on KZbin seems to be afraid of stacking pedals 🤷‍♂️

I have an open road (odr1 clone) and a ts808. I stack them with a clean boost. The key is to use your gain sparingly. I keep the gain low on the open road but the volume at 40% and use the ts808 for dirt. (40%gain)
