I love the Noble, adds so much to the tone naturally. I use mine with a B15 and an SVT live and direct in the studio, can’t beat it.

I have theCali76 in combination with the BassRig and a DSX Bass in my pedalcase, and the Bassrig sounds great when you want the real fat Ampeg sound. I like the Nobel, but it´s much to expensive for me. With my Origin Effects setup can i get a very fleible choice of warm analog bass sounds, and i love the Origin´s stuff.😉

Great, great video. I preferred the BassRig both in the tracks and isolated. Of course Ivan's comments make the Noble very appealing and when he said "Feels better, wider, etc" I found myself thinking the Noble was it, but then I listened again and definitely preferred the BassRig. Some kind of FOMO happening. The Noble is $1279. and the Origin Effects of $495. They both sound exceptional. I like the simplicity of the Noble, but appreciate the options of the Origin BassRig. BassRig wins for me.

In the 80s I played through an original SVT Tube Stack with the 8x10 cabinet. It was a killer tone. But when I quit the Heavy Metal Band that I was using it for, I had to reduce equipment to adopt to the smaller stages and volumes I was playing in later years and bands. I always missed the SVT tone, and even so I got close with the Tech21 pedals it was never the same again. I think the Origin Super Vintage nails the tone today that I was missing for so many years/decades. The Noble sure has the better clean sound, but hey I am a Rock-n-Roller and I want that dirty SVT tone.

The Nobel cuts though better to my ears in the demo tracks. But I own an Origin myself and its perfectly good and has gotten compliments from other bassist on gigs. I'm sure I'll end up with a Noble at some point. Yay for gear!

Thanks, good (honest) comparison. It would have been helpful to see the settings used for each example? Was everything flat on each unit ALL of the time?

For fattening the sound of the Origin Super Vintage I use the Origin DCX in front. Very fat tubey sound. I play with two bands, one is a funk/hip-hop band, another is a progressive nu-metal band and for recording I use two pedaboards: Pedalboard 1 (for funk, soul, pop music, hip hop, more melow rock etc.): PolyTune 3 Mini, Origin Cali76 v2, Origin DCX (clean boost and eq) and Origin Super Vintage; Pedalboard 2 (for nu-metal, djent): PolyTune 3 Mini, Empress Bass Compressor Blue SPK, Darkglass Microtubes X Ultra, SansAmp BDDI v2. In the past I used the SansAmp BDDI live, but now my ampless Live Rig is: TC PolyTune Mini, Origin Cali76, Origin DCX (clean boost and eq), Darkglass Microtubes X Ultra (only for modern metal) and Origin Super Vintage. I have a massive live sound with this ampless rig (I use Stingray Special 5 HH basses and Sandberg VM/TM 5's)! In compression section is always a battle between Empress and Cali76, for live gigs and in general I prefer Cali's more colored fuller character, but for me the Empress is better (more clinical, sterile in a good way) in modern metal (nu-metal, djent) combined with Darkglass distorsion.

I used a Noble the other week, was very impressed but my NU-X MLD is a real Swizz Army knife of a pre-amp/DI pedal ....suprisingly the Laney Digbeth bass pre-amp/DI is really good when used live, not bad for £130....i would like a Noble as the sound quality is really good & it can be used with other instuments...not the cheapest DI but worth it if your a working musician gigging &/or recording......

I'd suggest that the Black Panel version of the Bass Rig is a much better comp to the Noble. I found the Super Vintage to be too crispy / springy no matter what I did, and the drive to me felt way too "BWOP"y for my taste. The Black Panel has much more natural depth and responsiveness in my opinion. Another killer on in this realm is the CAPO from Jad Freer. A little more modern capabilities, but can also nail all of these sounds pretty flawlessly.

I have the Noble now for three weeks. I heard the difference immediatly when i pluged it in. I think you have to practise a bit with it, in case of how it sounds with bases and the other pedals. In the rehearsal room you hear the difference when paying over the amp. Sounds way better than before and cuts in the live and recorded mix with a big pound of warm lows. I use the noble with Microtubes from Darkglass and a P-Bass, that is my sound for Blues Rock. I agree totally with you about the Noble, i love it! But i have to say that the Origin Effects Preamp sounds also very good! Keep on doing your thing, Ivan! I line your videos!

Makes sense. There’s nothing applied to the Noble. It’s a clean, raw DI track 😄 Add some saturation or an amp sim plugin = problem solved

Great Video. I get what you say that both are different beasts. The BassRig is more of a one-pedal-does-it-all kind of thing. I can imagine packing just that pedal for a gig and not needing anything else. For the noble, you still would need some saturation pedal at least. Probably I would take the Noble for the studio and the BassRig for a gig. Both sound awesome to me.

The Noble is a more Tube like sound than the ORIGIN. I was thinking that the Origin was going to win the the challenge/ review. Thank you for doing this review for all of us. I’m seriously considering getting one for myself and I just might sell my Dark Glass Kraken or my Electro Harmonix DLX Big Muff Pi. and my WayHuge Pork and Pickle. I’m really impressed by the quality of sound that emulates like Tubes so well. It really sounds like Tubes.🤯

Would it be redundant to use both? Like send the bass rig to the Bible and noble out to house?

That would definitely work. You’d need an XLR to TR or TRS converter if you want to retain the cab sim sound going into the noble, though

The Noble is a tube DI with a 2 band EQ section. It has both an XLR out as well as a 1/4” out, allowing you to connect it to your stage amp and also a mixing console. The BassRig is designed to be sort of an “amp in a box”. Its XLR out includes a cabinet simulation, while the 1/4” out does not have the simulation, but it has some knobs that allow you to tweak the sound going into your amp without affecting what is being sent to FOH/mixing console through the XLR out

The Super Vintage will almost always fit perfectly in any mix. The Noble is amazing for less dense and darker mixes. Had both until reclently and sold the Noble. Got a Black Panel and now I run both the Black Panel and the Super Vintage simultaneously for recording. I also record the dry signal through a RND Portico II that gives me a clean sound at the same level of low end clarity as the Noble but with ayy more control since the unity can EQ, filter, compress and saturate.

I'm a sucker for the Noble one, the tone it puts out is insanely good. But I reckon that the BassRig would probably work better in a heavier Rock situation. So I guess it doesn't make much sense to compare them, I see them as different tools for different needs.
