Always great to see you Jon! Very glad you talked about the storm and how to help out, stuff like this needs to be shared! Remember sometimes violence is the answer😂

Not directly impacted, but still feeling it emotionally. You guys are no strangers to this type of stuff, though. My aunt lives in Houston and we always worry about her when storm season comes around. Thanks, Paul!

Thanks for mentioning our area up here. I live in the south mountains and we had no power,Water and internet for 2 weeks. People west and north of us still have lost everything. I wanted to make it to Dillions but I was a little busy up here. We’re back now and I made the Charlotte record show today. Take care art
@TheDigitalGramophone2 ай бұрын
Damn, Art. Sorry you had to deal without power and water for so long! Yeah, it’s still looking really rough out west. Poor Asheville and surrounding towns will be fighting uphill for awhile. Glad you got to make out to the Charlotte record show! Cheers ✌🏻

Great meeting you Jon. That Shuggie was an excellent choice! I had no idea the Hurricane had that significant of an impact on the area until I heard you guys talk about it. As a recipient of a “100 year” weather event two years ago myself, the hiccup I experienced was nothing compared to the levels of devastation you showed here. Unreal.
@TheDigitalGramophone2 ай бұрын
I was shocked the Shuggie was still there once I got to the wall. It was great meeting you too, Chance. Hope you had a great visit to Charlotte. You’re welcome back any time! 😎 Cheers ✌🏻

That Fall album showed up last year at my local store and I bought it. I do like the Bootsy album but mine is not the cleanest. Thanks for the update on NC. I understood the geography of the state so I figured you were not underwater. I did use you links to send some money, thanks for doing that. The opening was so cool, love those rooms, super trippy!
@TheDigitalGramophone2 ай бұрын
Thanks for donating, Steve! There are two more Fall records I’d like to have. Beyond that, I don’t need to track down the entire discography. The opening was filmed at Hopscotch Portland - very cool place. Cheers, buddy ✌🏻

Thank you for sharing those links. The destruction of western NC is beyond saddening. It's very hard to reconcile but this is the world we live in now. People at the top and the conglomerates of the world need to get their priorities straight but they won't. It's left to us to be blamed for not recycling and to clean up our own mess. Regardless I hope the area bounces back soon. It's also awakened us to the possibility of flooding happening here which previously was unlikely, not anymore. And yet, there are records to distract us. Music helps always. I would've snagged that Fall if I had the chance as well. Missing that one and it is excellent. Nice picks otherwise. Keep those elbows up!

If only there was some kind of activity happening in the Gulf of Mexico that we could all study… 🤔🤦🏻♂️ It’s a sad state of affairs, Dom. Hope you guys had a great time on the road and a fruitful recording session. Can’t wait to hear the results! ✌🏻

Great to leave with Shuggie. That sale looked bonkers and lived up to the grail billing. Thanks for providing those links for relief--that storm response / devastation has been tragic.

Stoked to get the Shuggie. It wasn’t $3 in a thrift store though! How do you manage to still find these kinds of deals so often? Western North Carolina will prevail. Most of it anyway… still waiting to see the effects of the folks that will be displaced. It’s long from over, that’s for sure. Cheers ✌🏻

Love that intro, bet the little ones had a ball there! Reminds me of Teamlab planets in Japan. Thanks for filling us in on Helene in NC. Absolutely devastating across so wide an area. Your folks and Eric without power for days is not good. These 'never seen anything like this' events will leave the old 'one-in-a X-years' signifier in the dust; this kind of rainfall and heat is a new ballgame now. Good to hear the community is falling in to help, likewise you for bringing awareness. Now i don't think that sounded violent, rehoming that rude kid. Fair enough when vinyl manners go out the window😠 nice batch of stuff; i have that Shuggie on the Luaka Bop CD, incredible to see an OG! I've never seen one even shown. Sweet Bootsy. Such an underrated Kraftwerk album. Great seeing your Fall collection blooming. Shame bout that Satori, but glad to see you're not distraught bout missing it.
@TheDigitalGramophone2 ай бұрын
It’s funny, when we were at Hopscotch Portland (the intro), I was thinking “This seems like something you would experience in Tokyo.” Yeah, Dean, you guys have experienced everything the United States experiences on opposite coasts. Except… it’s all been in your city. Fires. Flooding. We did some helping out today. Packed some meals for folks in need in WNC. Explanation of “kid” in next video. Lol. I tell you, Dean, I’ve scored some great records this year… but the Shuggie might be the best get so far. Just never see it. I’ve got a good reissue of the Satori - one that’s sanctioned and isn’t a boot. 😎

Never watched one of your videos, before, but I appreciate your mentioning of the challenges in NC. Family Mountain Town (RL MT) hit by monumental flooding a few years ago, so I know the effects on the people and economy. Does anyone know how the record stores in Asheville (Rad Records?) fared?
@TheDigitalGramophone2 ай бұрын
I follow Harvest Records on Instagram and they are still closed. Their account says they are still closed until further notice. Not sure how much damage they sustained. Voltage Records is also closed until further notice. I don’t know much about Records in the RAD, but the River Arts District got hit the worst. I would assume they lost a lot, if not everything. Static Age fared pretty well, and they have turned their store into a safe space/community outreach hub of sorts. I do wish there was a way to know who we could support by buying online, but I haven’t been able to track that info down. And I’m not just talking about Asheville but other states in the south that have been impacted. Thanks for watching and commenting! ✌🏻

The CEO of my company actually cried during a meeting - that's how bad and how much destruction was done. Luckily our company has been taking steps to help (being a rural farm bank). I actually think those Capitols are 80s and digital. Doesn't matter - it's a good album.
@TheDigitalGramophone2 ай бұрын
Yeah. It’s been very difficult seeing what is happening up in those areas of the state. A co-worker is from Fairview (just outside of Asheville) and he went up there immediately after the storm hit. He had direct contacts and knew where to go and exactly what to take. It shook him. Everything I’ve ever read online about those labels said late 70s/early 80s. Discogs entry said late 70s. Doesn’t mean it’s right.

I have nothing by The Fall. I rarely see Fall records and when I do they are live records or 12” singles.

I guess they didn’t have that many copies of their records pressed in the U.S. They’ve always seemed a little too difficult to find. Even online.

Sorry that y'all are having to deal with such regional damage after Helene. I'm even sorrier that you're in for even more today... Most importantly, though, I'm sorry that this is just the very *beginning* of climate change. Until we actually go carbon & methane neutral all our weather is just gonna keep getting stronger, year by year & storm by storm. 🥺
@TheDigitalGramophone2 ай бұрын
Agree with all of this. It’s tough living day to day knowing we can’t reverse the damage that’s already been done. Just keep burying myself in more environmentally unfriendly musical media. 😜 Thanks for hanging and the thoughtful comment. Cheers ✌🏻
