I do not understand for the life of me how the adults in this situation thought a 4 year old was seeking attention in this way. Absolutely sick.

Sarah, What an absolutely wonderful ending to this heart and gut wrenching story. You are incredibly strong and brave for sharing your story. You're 100% a survivor. The mental health struggles are not weakness, it is your brain having the time and freedom to react to what had happened to you. You're amazing and you're here for a reason. ❤

Your not only a survival but a hero. Telling your story takes a lot of courage and someone out there needs to hear your testimony. May you continue to heal and be stronger .

Such a beautiful young lady. Many blessings lovely lady. The people who didn’t believe you WILL be paid in kind. Rightfully so. There aren’t words for how little I think of these creatures masquerading as humans. The non believers and abusers alike.
I'm so proud of you for speaking your truth. I'm so proud of you for doing the work to heal and I'm excited for you for college and your job! ❤

I’m so sorry you went through this horror at the hands of your brother and all the adults around you did nothing for so long. Unfortunately so many foster parents foster for the wrong reasons like getting paid but they don’t truly care for the kids. There are some who truly love to help kids but not most

Thank you for sharing your story. Testimony can really help other survivors work through their trauma and know they aren't alone. I wish you luck in college! If it works out, thats great, and if that doesn't pan out, that's ok to. Just keep moving along, one step at a time. People face so much adversity but you just have to do you best to move forward and find the light ❤

People would be surprised to learn how many kids abuse their own siblings, parents need to pay attention to their children. I was sexually abused by my own brother, and I feel as if this type of abuse isn’t taken seriously because the abuser is a child.

I watch Marvel and DC movies about superheroes all the time, but your courage telling your story makes them pale into insignificance. I am so glad that you got your happy ending, and just hope it gets even better from here on. I bet you have saved scores of other kids by just being open and honest. I don't know if you visit schools and do talks, but if you don't, you should think about that. You make a difference.

I was also blamed by my parents; he was older with Asperger's syndrome so my adoptive mother thought i was somehow responsible at 8 years old. I know now how wrong that is and really don't understand how she could have come to such a conclusion. Honestly, he was 11 and I have serious trouble even blaming him considering the situation we were both in

I’m so sorry this happened to you my wife and I fostered two beautiful amazing little girls the older one 4 told me, her therapist and worker that her mom sexually abused her and she went into details she drew it she wouldn’t stop sharing she was told she was safe and would be kept safe. Unfortunately a judge moved her from our home and she cried n screamed begged us not to let her go I still live with the trauma that I couldn’t stops it and save her. She was moved and is still in foster care now 5 years later and is seeing her mother her abuser over weekends. 😭

How can a child survive this trauma? Especially the kids that are constantly moved from one Foster Home to another. I knew of many Foster Families....2 did it for financial gain, 1 because they are EXTREME Religious Kooks "Called by God" to Foster (they were the worst!).....and one family that were doing it for the right reasons!

One of my adopted cousins went through a similar situation as you. That’s how she became my cousin. Her mom’s pimp raped her when she was 4 or 5. I don’t believe he touched her older sister though. I think my cousin was 7 or 8 when the adoption was finalized. There were scares over the years as she became a cutter to deal with her trauma. Sometimes she had to be hospitalized. Her rapist was jailed. It wasn’t until my aunt moved to another state that my cousin seemed to let go of some of her fear of her rapist. Just being further away seemed to help. She still struggles with her mental health, but she’s doing much better now as an adult. She has a daughter now. I think that has helped a lot too, as she enjoys being a mom. Btw, I have nine adopted cousins. One set was a sibling group of six.
