I guess I’ll just go ahead and do it anyway though.” Anytime you’re anxious or fearful about doing something, don’t try to stop fearing it, learn to control it. Even the most courageous and bravest knights are fearful of not returning to their families. They still press on though, because they eventually learned to control their fear after enough time. Next time you’re anxious or afraid, don’t tell yourself it’s not scary, embrace that fear, accept it, and try to push past it. Learn from the scariness, and question why you’re so scared. This mindset has helped me so much. In late middle school I realized that I remembered the embarrassing things I’d done through my life, and how someone that saw me do that might see me and think how silly I looked. Then I thought of all the people I’d seen do embarrassing things, and what I’d think of them if I saw them. And hardly anyone came to mind, and those who did were usually my friends, and those who weren’t I didn’t think anything poorly of them. So what would someone think of me if I were to stumble over my words during my presentation? And this made things so much easier. I became so loose in front of crowds. Stage fright is still a thing, definitely. A phobia is an irrational fear, you can’t get rid of that with a mindset. But there are some things that can be solved with a mindset. This outlook of “they won’t remember, only I will” doesn’t just apply to the stage in front of a crowd, it applies to a stranger on the street, a customer in your store, a coworker in the break room, a family member at the reunion. Conversation comes so easy when you can say anything and not be worried about being judged the rest of your life, and you get to practice and become better at conversation, too. It’s a skill, and I still learn every day. Now I’m in my third year of community college, my class knows my name and who I am, that I’m not afraid to blurt an answer or give a little speech, and the people in my life appreciate me in general. People don’t care about something you don’t care about, so when you stop caring about the conversation, and start caring about the people, they’ll do the same for you.

I would argue that sometimes avoiding self-damaging situations like these can be rewarding in itself. In high-school I was forced to take a speech class, one of the major projects for this class was to lip-sing to a song for a minimum of 3 minutes.... I was the awkward shy guy who did not even listen to music, but I did have a 4.0 GPA to keep my parents happy. I tried to find the slowest song I could find and tried my hardest to remember the lyrics. The day of, I watched as other people made complete and utter fools of themselves. I watched all their dignity leave their souls as I cringed harder than I have ever cringed... I then had a realization.... I have more dignity than this... for the first time I am going to say "no" to this ridiculous school program and take the F test grade. I am going to go home, let my parents get upset, and then go to sleep knowing that I did what was best for my mental well being.

This hits so close to home. I had a period in my life where I was always overthinking situations like this, and now a few years later both my siblings are experiencing the same thing. This is actually so true, when I was about 13 about to turn 14, we had this performing arts class, and this was like 2 months deep into the school year so around November time, and as a warm up exercise the teacher made us get into a circle and she picked one person to do a certain dance move and the person who was selected could then decide what dance move you would have to do after they completed their dance, so you had to select a person and a dance so for eg. I pick Max and I chose the floss off fortnite, you know that type of thing, so a few people went up and did their dances ,selected people and then their chosen dance moves, but this guy in my class gets picked and is set honestly quite a easy dance, something short, so he completes and looks around and selects me, and what did he select for me to do? The worm. I have never ever done the worm up until this point, so immediately being a quite quiet teenager I was thinking "oh no, oh god no please" so I walk to the centre of the circle get on my stomach and begin doing the dance, very very poor performance I must say and I see everyone is laughing, and yeah looking back I was a bit embarrassed, but now Im 17 I look back and laugh about it and I'm glad I did it in a way cause it was just a bit of fun, I think a few people jokingly said to me nice dance moves, we'd both laugh and then move on and that was it.

He hearted my comment, causing me to well visit this video again, after a whole year. I can’t stop to think how true this is tho. I saw this video before my high school 11th grade end of the year party thing. It was just a graduation ceremony for the 12th graders. And so, everyone had their own part and I was up there unwillingly. My job was to take the nations flag and brag about it bcs I did and no one else did blah blah blah. They gave me a paper to read and memorize on the last day. Me knowing that I would be on stage for the FIRST time in front of hundreds of parents and relatives of the school, memorized it. And so the next day, at the party when my turn came, I literally forgot on the second phrase. I stared at my hand that was holding the flag thinking what the hell was I about to do? I’m in front of everyone, the ceremony started like hours ago, they are expecting words blah blah blah. I stressed out. With the mic in my hand close to my mouth I turned to look at the teachers that were beside the stage and went “I uhh… well forgot.” Immediately everyone laughed. I felt embarrassed ofc and well we ended it there. I don’t know maybe it was to sooth me out or to kill the embarrassment but all my friends even random people said “You seriously brought joy to that boring party of theirs”. Now I come to think of it, no one really cared. They all probably forgot to this day. I always stressed out about stages, always ran away from implementing my self to people. Never came to realize how foolish I was. But damn that was one experience lmao. One core memory.

I started singing Karaoke on a weekly basis a little over 2 years ago. After a couple months of practice and totally butchering several songs I started to get recommendations from other people on what songs fit my voice and style. Once I found my niche of songs I excel at singing, I gained a ton of confidence in my ability to sing anything people wanted (provided i knew the song). Some nights no one claps, and other nights i feel like i have the bar in the palm of my hand. But no one outright hated me for singing. In fact, one of the most common bits of feedback I've gotten was "that was amazing, i could never do that", something *I* used to say back before I started. Keep going, and if you bomb, there's always next time ❤

The bright light of "nobody care" is it will help you to do what you like without worring that others have something against you. But the dark side is that the more I tell myself "nobody cares" the more I realize how lonely I've become.

I love this, you nailed it, everybody is stuck in their own little world. You are just a side character in their story and you rarely if ever, take center stage in anybody's life that isn't a member of your own family.

Dear flowstate, I've got 2 reasons why I should say thank you to you: 1. Thanks to your modpack I'm able to enjoy my favorite childhood game once again and this is a big deal already since it really helps a lot when I sit down after a tiring day and just chill and play. 2. These short videos you make, I think they help me think positively and I really need that now. Also, I can't believe how you just appeared out of nowhere 2 months ago and now you have like 32 thousand subscribers. So just continue what you're doing, it's good.

You are literally the voice in my head, everything you've talked about in these type of videos so far have been, what I like to call them, shower thoughts. They're like my form of meditation when I'm doing something autonomous, just me talking to myself minus the talking part, and seeing them in this manner makes me happy.

This is one of the most important lessons I learned a few years ago. How one thinks other people view them really takes a toll on one's mind, so once I got past this problem and realized that things will move on without people really remembering about you, life began feeling so much more enjoyable and less stressful. Those embarrassing moments even eventually turn into stories you can tell and laugh at in the future :)

I just found this channel today and have been watching a lot of your videos. Honestly keep it up. I'm 14 years old so I'm in high school (My school system is weird you spend 7 years in primary and 6 in high school) but honestly coming home and watching these videos after having a stressful few days is such a relaxing thing. You can literally talk about anything and I'll listen. So yeah keep making videos, after reading other comments I can tell other people feel the same.

In high school, I had a class where everyone had to do a 2, 5, and 7 minutes speech and it made up a significant portion of our grade, then in college, there was a class, communications, where we had to give speeches and the class was mandatory to graduate no matter the major you chose. I get nervous with public speaking, but I'm fine with it, I do pretty well, but it was a learning experience to see my classmates do the speeches. Some peoples' social anxiety is really bad, and multiple times I saw people break down in tears from the anxiety. This video is one I believe is helpful for those people, to understand that people don't care.

So glad u went for it man those sort of situations are what build confidence depending on how u handle it and u did it in the best way, ik that works cause i used to have horrible anxiety and now that im better i have things like last week i did something like the song on stage at my school but I volunteered 😅

Thanks man, you changed my final year of high school into the best year that I have ever went through

everytime I do something embarrassing and remember it much later, I always think to myself, "I'm the only person who's thinking of this right now. And if I'm not, what does that say about the people who are? That they're so bored, they're thinking of a cringey moment that didn't even happen to them?" All humiliating things I've done in life have given me something in return, whether it be experience in social situations or fond memories, so I wouldn't change a thing about the past. It's important to remember that no matter the person, we're all gonna have those embarrassing moments. It's better to go out and embarrass yourself than to sit around, never taking risks because you're afraid.

This is a huge help, I have serious problems with socializing and am not good at conversation (or atleast don't think I am) and it gets so bad that I may have social anxiety. Not sure but I have a bad habit of freezing up and barely talking when I get too involved in a social scenario. This is advice I wish to take with for the rest of my life and I bet a lot of people would also like to here this. You are an everyday hero.

Soon in the next year or so I'll be heading to college. Throughout most of my school years I was a very closed off and quiet kid. But what I learned from this year off is that there is no reason to be scared cause we all make mistakes, and we improve from those mistakes. So I've been planning on being more open and this video really just motivates me to do so.

A similar situation happened to me as well. One of my professor one day decided to ask the students to come at the stage and sing a song, and since I was (apparently) his favorite student he picked me up first. Even before he picked me, I was thinking about what I was going to do. I had expected that it was too likely a situation to not consider. With a similar mindset, I realized that I need not even sing an actual song, I can just do something unexpected yet intriguing to save myself from the awkwardness. He really did pick me for the first... and the last. I got onto the stage, and I was confident as to what I was going to do and just decided to roll with it. He was standing beside me, and the class was cheering somewhat, while I smiled a little and bite my fingers (habit). Then, I just started... making "aaaaaaaaa" sounds as my voice breaks into laughter every now and then. The class laughed at me, and the professor was laughing hysterically in fact. I didn't feel embarrassed however, perhaps I'd already realized what you have said in the video before, perhaps I was confident in my abilities... Regardless, there's something to learn from this story. Thank you for reading.

I've never been more ashamed than I have today. My one chance to preform and really show my professor my knowledge I've developed, something I've done many times and very well, and even if I wasn't confident in the language I could have done it in the language, I could have asked the right questions and found the answer. But I froze, and passed it onto someone else. I felt like everything I've been working on was worthless. I thought if I couldn't do this simple task that I'd have to do for the rest of my career, how was I going to start a family, make it big, make some income, meet new friends, make a good impression, etc. It didn't help that, shocker, I really did have no friends, and I really did make shit impressions, I had absolutely nobody to vent to, I've already disappointed my family enough so I just bottled it and put my head down. I hope you're right about people not caring being a good thing, because "relaxed" isn't exactly my nature. I don't even play Minecraft but thanks!
