I have a build that's very effective in the lower levels, and I wonder what a pro could do with it? This is a writeout from memory, it probably needs top tier refinement! *3 Gate Early Mass DTs* __Expand to natural, but late, after tech is underway.___ Early gateway units to defend as you tech, as scouting and opponent's race dictates. Defend with minimal units if scouting shows safety Warp Gate Twilight Council --Maybe it's inefficient and just reflective of my level. But I intermittently resume probe production even with extras on main, late expansion but saturated quickly-- Chrono Warp Gate proxy probe makes forward pylon and gateway One extra home gateway. Dark Shrine. I'm slow usually and often build the extra two gateways spaced around my dark shrine, based on twilight completion timing. Nexus at natural Warp 3 DTs at home if early bad guys approaching for first rush, otherwise, warp at forward pylon and hold. Scouting to check opponent defenses at front with adept or other unit. If no rush attack, first 3 DTs run from home base to opponent's front wall or natural. Warp 3 DTs at forward pylon, surround early rush attacking units in conjunction with held back first three DTs from the front, or if no rush attack, (I'm imagining those as in an early marine push or roach push), they meet up with first 3 DTs, and before the opponent can react, surround weakest wall point or his army units and A attack it. They swipe everything down very quickly, and in so many cases in my experience, (again, at lower levels) they are caught off guard and lose their army in two swipes. Fully resume probe production. Next warp-in, 3 more invisible guys, and if they have stabilized, i go fast legs, Robo, and make archons, hopefully with DTs that got away from recovered opponent. Even when this fails, it often has hurt them enough to transition.

Mana, your proxy expand reminds me of a strategy I never perfected, but that you might. I called it "Full Court Press" after the basketball term for playing defense everywhere instead of letting the opponent advance past midcourt before defending (just like an SC2 macro game, where both sides expand rather than fight). In Full Court Press, you would expand to your opponent's side of the map instead of your own, bottling them into their main while you hold the door. Maintaining that stranglehold wouldn't be the point, though you wouldn't just give up a base without at least some resistance. The point would be to drain as many resources from your opponent's half of the map as possible, so that when the game evens out, if you begin to mine the map dry, their side will dry up far faster than yours. Of course, any strategy to effect this could be used, though mass phoenixes would probably give the greatest early map control. And behind them, or whatever strategy you use, just go crazy expanding and mining as fast as possible. Let him expand, but make him pay dearly for it, and leave him a half value base when you go.

I feel like Protoss should set up forward bases like this WAAAAY more often. With just a pylon you can already warp in, and then add a battery or 2 and a cannon for detection and you can trap your opponent.

Great day today! Thanks for doing proxy Nexus!!! Commenters have been clamoring for this build forever, and it's every bit as good as we knew you could make it. That's especially impressive when you're playing against Lambo. I don't think we'll ever get tired of seeing this strategy. But when you're ready to switch it up, my suggestion for an unusual tactic is to play Protoss like a zerg. Expand rapidly on low gas using zealots for run byes. Cannons in in the mineral line instead of spores and spread cannons and batteries as if it were creep, and focus on out expanding the opponent. I know this works because I fist thought of "protoss creep" during one of your zeolot only games. It should work even better using a full composition! Once again, great day, MaNa! It doesn't get better than this!

I am afraid this is one of the ideas that looks fun on paper but at this level I think wont work... :( But I like the idea of fast expanding and zealot, swarmy toss!

@@MaNaEsports, yeah, I just rewatched the conclusion to zeolot only to GM. It was pretty dismal once you reached GM. I can see why you wouldn't want to revisit. I guess our friend @jkkim6928 is right, it is a pretty diamond leage suggestion. I feel dumb now. Although you did say at the end of zealot only that you may try it again with phoenixes. So maybe keep it in mind for a challenge.

@@KumarBendrake No reason to feel dumb. You even said using a full composition. Zealots are cheap filler and cannons and batteries can be spammed effectively. Heck, we're watching Mana use a warp prism to spontaneously build a half a dozen cannons in the middle of his opponent's main at the eight-minute mark! If anything is dumb it is how many pros try to win solely on stalkers, when Mana is over here reminding people that three Immortals are worth more than a dozen stalkers and can be added to after a fight because they aren't all dead. Save the money skipping stalkers (except when they are actually needed) and you will have tons of extra money. The supply cap will instead become the limiter.

3:49 Ooh, this move out was dangerous. he was panicking and spamming the Z key. you just needed to stay at your wall, hold position, and chrono out glaives. Need glaives and more adepts before moving in. :(

for pvp, you could try something silly like making your opponent think you're doing an all in and then you have a proxy base somewhere, making voidrays or some higher tech unit at the proxy.

Is there enough gas to go Phoenix Immortal (against zerg Phoenix Archon may be a better choice)? So many protoss are so obsessed with stalkers they seem to forget how powerful a handful of immortals are, and having phoenixes would allow you to destroy warp prisms and lift key opponents while a moving the immortals. Similarly, void ray disruptor? Could you build a handful of void rays and then just mass disruptors to the point you could advance while constantly firing and letting the void rays tag along cleaning up anything that sneaks through the cracks? Is there enough supply cap to do, say, six voids and twenty disruptors?

I'll play that one with you. What league are you in? The problem with 2 on 2 is both people need to do it. If your parter just turtles up while you try to rush two players it's a disaster. I lost a game last night against two guys on a team that took me out in an early attack before my team mate even noticed. Ironically I was rushing out zealots on four gates, and almost held but not quite. So I'd much rather be those guys that coordinated an early attack. This has to be the most effective way for 2 vs 2.
