The challange was a little pointless (boring) since you already beat grandmasters with only 1 unit allowed. It was pretty clear, that they had absolutely no chance. Maybe the same challange again, but only with grandmasters?

@@__Mr.White__ What??? This was the MOST entertaining video. With the grandmasters series, he still builds like a reaper and 5 marines, his opponents don't know what he's doing, plus it's just the same unit every time, which is less entertaining. The best part of this video is the opponents strategizing what to ban, and Marc having to adapt on the fly. Banning Siege tanks first was very surprising and worked. Then not banning Ghosts early actually hurt them. It would've been even more interesting to hear the opponents side of things.

This could also work the other way around: Start at bronze - but every unit you have built is blocked for any further games! Can you defeat the bronze player with only scvs? Do you have to spend your marines on this match? Don't you need them later? Failed your honestly questionable cheese and now have to build 2-3 units to save the run? Because remember, one lost map and it's over! How far can you make it?!

@@altaykilic2142 We practiced it. Honestly it was really tough as a Zerg to choose a strategy. When we did any practice we did hard counters as he would scout and see everything. Proxy hatch did the worst.

To be fair, when he did that there are 2 important things to note: 1) His opponents did not know his limitation 2) He often had to try many, many times with some units in order to get the win.

@@__Mr.White__ except that he nearly lost several of those matches? like yeah monotype challenges are cool, and super difficult, but several of those have some leeway (IE: he gets six queens) and relevantly- the other side doesn't know what he's doing. They need to say... prepare for tanks rolling out of nowhere, because of course there'd be tanks, and not seeing one sets off alarm bells. In this case they know there *will be no tanks*

I remember another strategy being discussed in the discord was to ban cyclones and vikings and tempest/void ray cheesing all the games. Also, big ups to Yoru and Fraeco for pulling off the dub. Especially Yoru, for banning tanks while playing random. Would've been a pretty meh ban if he rolled Protoss. What a gambler.

I think a better strategy for them would be to ban in reverse unit availability order - first marine, then reaper, then marauder, leaving our uThermal with nothing from early barracks. Then helion, then cyclone, and so on. In late games with lower levels, it would be almost impossible to hold one base all in.

Next challenge: 3 StarCraft related voice clips will be jumbled/mixed together. Uthermal must decipher the message by the time he wins or loses the game. So he'll be listening to that sound clip on repeat while playing and commenting. Multitasking challenge.

This challenge was great fun!! You should do it again with a new set of players, but most importantly - they can't ban the same units (in the same order) as this time. That way it will be completely different and fresh :)

Biggest banning strategic error, I think, was the Platinum player banning Marauder instead of Ghost. If they wanted to do a reaper allin, marauder damage will be too low to take out the first few reapers. If they wanted to do their followup, which was marine tank macro, marauder would also struggle with that (marauders good at jumping on tanks, but can't actually fight the marines very well). I wonder if there was some way to set up the bronze player a bit better. If you could somehow hand pick some units, you could set up a scenario where uthermal would have no air defence, cause his legal units would be like banshee, medivac, hellbat, tank or something. They would need to tech into mutas and survive long enough for that, but if they didn't die, uThermal could basically never attack. He could spam turrets and not die, but as long as the zerg keeps some economy eventually they would get a brood lord out to kill infinity turrets.

Great challenge and vid! Thoughts of two ideas that could be cool; start playing against bronze and work up, but give them maphacks (i.e they can see all your units,bldgs, etc.). Idk how you'd achieve that though. Second that might be entertaining, is that every time you stim, you have to stim your marines to red. Not super creative but could be interesting.

This was a fun idea at the start, but I realized after the first game it is just like you doing "unit" to GM but instead of the opponents getting harder, they get easier and you can make more than one type of unit even if they are limited. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Wow, what a great game 1! I was confused when I heard: Veto "tank", I would have bet on Marine + Reaper as the first two bans. Now I am looking for the next games. My prediction: It will get easier for you, because your cheeses should destroy masters/diamond players easily. And if you proxy reapers or marauders doesn't change a lot, they probably won't be good enough to stop it anyway.

My strat would have been to take away all the things that he can micro because that’s where he’s gonna beat you up: reeeper, medivac. Then I would go for any unit he can build quickly: marines, ghosts, cyclones, helions. This ensures you have the advantage in the early game

Some builds, some advices. Mby what unit counters what. And how to read scout- for example: you go to enemy base, see 2 gases and what? what this could tell you. Have a good day :)

Alright, so Medivac ban makes marines crap and widow mines become useless so that's 3 bans in 1 move. Then Reaper, Tank, Ghost, Cyclone are good. What is left after that? Marines and Marauders with no medivacs, Hellion/Hellbat which honestly just sucks, starport units and Thors. At the very least it would make for some very fun games trying to win with blank minefields, mass bunker pushes, random thors and vikings.
