Nobody is Watching This Anime and is It Dead on Arrival?

Nobody is talking about Nier Automata Part 2 Anime that's airing this season. Its truly unfortunate and I wanted to bring attention to it. Did the delays kill the anime? Did Aniplex and A-1 Pictures fail with this series? Can it get the 86 Eighty Six treatment?

Same for Attack on Titan. I was literally watching when it started like 10 years ago. All this time, and it only has a couple seasons? It was 'constantly ending soon'. Then they broke up seasons because of whatever, and whatever. By the end, I watched it cuz i loved it, but honestly, by the finale, I didn't even care about it all anymore. Great anime, but delays and season breaks were a buzzkill for me.

Actually its likely they did this on purpose because they've decided on their own that anime isn't worth the effort or that they don't like it. So like jericho season 2 and fox went out of their way to sabotage it at every turn nier got the square enix version of this treatment. This whole thing reeks of corporate sabotage so i wouldn't be surprised if they did that and said "the fans aren't interested see!" You would be surprised how stupid and vindictive corporations can be towards IP's and their fans Does it means what I'm saying is true? No but there is unfortunately always that possibility

The problem with the Nier anime aside from all the season 1 delays is that they didn’t even advertise season 2, they just dropped a trailer and the new episode was suddenly out; the anime looks beautiful really, but the lack of advertisement caused a lot of people to not even notice it

As someone that dropped it, I liked it. It’s just delays 4 times and a delay without telling when comes back…it was a hassle to try and guess if the ep will come out. That's why I'm thankful that the Blue Archive anime was made by a collab with Yostar Pictures, I am a bit disappointed with Yuuka's thighs being so thin considering she's 100kg, but that was pretty much the only flaw other than them not having high quality animation. Otherwise, everything else was perfect. And especially that feet licking scene... absolute cinema.

A1 and aniplex definitely learned from this experience. That's why Solo Leveling Season 1 was internally delayed from fall 2023 to winter 2024. Even s2 is most likely not airing this fall even though initially it was supposed to come out this year.

aside from the production issues, this is coming from a friend who personally played the franchise since i haven't played it myself, the reason why it's not really taking off is that i heard it doesn't really add anything compared to the game. It's similar to the phrase "just read the manga", in this case "just play the game". i can personally see what they mean, we've seen anime recently that elevated their source material to another level like bocchi the rock and frieren. I think people had really high expectation of the anime since the game was really good, but unfortunately the execution of the anime didn't really meet the expectations the fans had. as an anime only the anime is not bad by any means, it's actually better than 90% of the anime out there. I think people just had really high expectation of the anime. But hey at least part2 now have some more fan service 😂

I think some fans expected a 1:1 adaptation at first, but after the few changes and hints the anime did, it's obvious now that this is an alternate timeline, a new branch hence the title having a "1.1a". So now there are a few lore fans that are gonna be waiting to see how things unfold. Also it does add new stuff compared to the games and changes some things to make it feel new at the same time still fits the Nier canon. Fans who are really into the lore would appreciate it more.

The reason why it's not something people remember is getting a second cour is Crunchyroll has a weird thing now where they'll bury their new sub shows behind by updated dub shows of older stuff. You can't imagine how many times I keep seeing a dub for Log Horizon on the service and I'm like, "How many dubs does this even need?" Season 3 came out three years ago! I didn't have plans to ever watch Nier as I'm not interested in it, but now I might. Other shows like Trigun Stampede and others have been buried before too.

Nier Series has ended with the mobile game Nier Reincarnation, this anime is just an extra flavor for the fans. I personally love seeing this series going in a different path than the game, such as seeing one of 9S death by 2B's hands. It only dead in the eyes of anime viewers because they can't see the beautiful story in the story span of 24 episodes.

Problem with Nier, for me, was all the issues with production in cour 1. I stopped watching until they completed it because they kept taking breaks, but I was never able to get back to it. It's straight cooking with this production. The fights are amazing, the story is great, the voice actors are doing a fantastic job. Did I mention A-1 decided to give us an anime original Commander thong butt shot? Yoko Taro is in the room and making sure 2B's butt is shown every episode. No, this adaptation is genuinely awesome. Scheduling issues along with covid is what killed the momentum, and i feel bad for those who put a shit ton of effort into it. Or feel bad for the people who watched 9 seconds of the first episode, saw the CG drones, and turned it off. Because it does get drastically better. Both for people who played the games and those that have never touched the story.

This Anime had multiple things going against it from the time it was announced 1. The Game's story takes advantage of the interactivity of the medium and the finale REQUIRES it. It just doesn't work in other media and Yoko Taro flat out admitted this when the show was first announced. 2. The CGI in the first scene of the first episode, first impressions are paramount in a series. 3. a 4 week delay between episode 3 and 4 4. Serious Pacing problems and short, uninteresting action scenes through most of the series (with a few notable exceptions). trying to cram a 20+ hour game into 24 episodes. Most of the really cool and cinematic things you can do in the game don't show up at all in the anime until way, way later. (we don't even see a single perfect dodge until Episode 15!) 5. a 4 MONTH delay between episode 8 and 9 (this was probably the biggest one) 6. Very little marketing for Cour 2, I only found out it was airing almost a week after Episode 13's release.

It's not going to adapt everything the same... The anime is it's own different timeline from the game. We already saw different plot points, characters, bosses, how adam ended up being the one who lived and not eve (he even had the opposite tattoo patterns compared to eve in the game).

I haven't even watched the original because I'm a huge fan of the source material and don't wanna see it mangled. It's the medium of the games' stories that makes them work as well as they do. I just can't see that working as an anime anywhere near as well. Maybe I'm off-base here, is the anime actually good? I completely forgot this anime existed. And they're adapting the whole game in 24 epsiodes huh? From what I've read its been pretty great. I'll give this a watch once its over. I loved the game and its probably one of the best games ever made. A shame the anime adaptation isn't getting alot of love and attention, especially from what i can see, it looks really good and faithful. Well here's hoping it becomes a cult classic.

Watched the first season the mishandling of proper air times killed investment in it, and as a big Nier fan I found the pacing very odd knew about season 2 but will watch it when there’s more episodes but I’m not expecting much. My friend who played automata casually but don’t play replicant or doesn’t know much about the lore was lost during the first season and basically said “it doesn’t seem like an anime for people to get into the series it basically has all these references making it seem it’s only meant for fans to understand and watch”

I think it's because scifi serious/contemporary post apocalyptic type stories are not very popular in anime, it's more for video games, also the colors are dark. The casual anime watchers just won't be attracted to it. Plus the fact that most ppl who would be interested already played the game. 86 is great, but it was underrated at first at least in the mainstream. If we focus on avid watchers, most would have played nier while 86 is something new. I only watched ep 1 and it was surprisingly good, but I didn't continue cause I already know the story. On the pirate site I'm on part2 ep2 has a good amount of comments so I don't think it's that slept on, just the mainstream casual viewers probably aren't watching.

I don't think it's dead on arrival, but I think another major factor why people forgot about it because the ending felt kinda like an ending. The main bad guys are dead. Those 2 machines are dead. The episode I think is the best episode so far. And this is my first entry to the verse.

Another problem is Continuity Lockout and the very prestige of the game it is adapting. I have not watched the anime because I want to play the game. And some people may bot polay Automata because they want to play Drakengard first and such.

The issue is that its a game made in to anime.. Like how many people have seen the Final fantasy anime? Almost none, because game adaption to animation shows tends to be poorly executed and not live up to the game. Because why not just play the game instead which is just ten times superior, and also it has animation cutscenes too that are better handled through its 3d medium its tailored around. You may say Arcane did it, but you don't play the Arcane storyline in league of legends which is totally different, etc.

I was watching it but considering after episode 9 it was on pause because ….19 i wasn’t sure if they ever picked it back up or not. It would of been nice for someone to advertise it or say something about it.

While the advertisements have been non-existent about this show it it stil based on my favorite game of all time!!! That being said, I am currently waiting for the english dub and then I will binge the entire series!!!

I was watching this with my sister (we both know it has great lore but we just never got to play the game) and loved the anime but the delays really killed our interest cause now we don't really remember what the hell happened from the previous season, we still have to watch the last couple of episodes and now there is a season 2.
