As an immigrant east asian kid, Mei and her mom’s total divide on the stuff Mei likes is frighteningly familiar. I grew up thinking it was common sense that you didn’t share what you loved with your parents, cause they wouldn’t care at best or they’d turn it against you and lecture you about it at worst. It was like two different worlds, the world of your parents and the world of your own. Seeing something Mei treasures in ‘her’ world coming around to save her mother, and bring those worlds crashing together into something powerful and beautiful? It chokes me up every time I think about it.

This really is my favorite part of the movie, I got the chills listening to it, the mix of the chant and the song is so good. The whole scene shows everyone's determination to help Mei's Mom turn back to normal. Also, I like how after everything, everybody doesn't get mad at the Mei's family for all the trouble they've caused, they just want to help them everytime it shows they are going through something or in danger. Everybody in the city are genuinely very nice and forgiving people to them, even those who were mean at first (Yes, I am talking about Tyler)
