Tom Brady leaves behind an incredible legacy, retiring with more Super Bowl wins than any other entire NFL franchise. In five of those games, he was named Super Bowl MVP to go along with three regular season MVPs, and making two separate all-decade teams. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe discuss how difficult it'll be for any of today's quarterbacks to come close to what Brady achieved.

The question mark with all these young QBs is how they do with the second iteration of their team i.e when they lose their current stars and have to compete with guys who weren’t picked at the top of each round of the draft. Particularly with Mahones when he eventually loses Kelce and then Hill. Look at Wilson, great player, very little success after that first team and there are countless other examples

very, very true. brees, eli, rodgers, wilson, ben. all won rings for sure but only 1 or 2 and none late in their career. I think lots of these qbs will do the same though. burrow might win one ring now, mahomes already has one, and allen/herbert/jackson all could possibly win a ring as well. its just not clear who will win another later in their career, although burrow or mahomes are the most likely answer (AS OF NOW) considering they are the only ones to actually make it to a super bowl. allen I can see making it soon though. herbert and lamar need new OC’s that don’t hold them back as well as good defenses, and they too could probably make it.

To put into perspective how unbreakable Tom Bradys 7 titles are, keep these in mind. Tom has been to 10 super bowls the guy in second Elway went to 5. 3 before the cap era. Tom has won 7, Montana and Bradshaw have 4 each as runner ups. They did it before the cap and only went to 4. In the cap era Brady, Elway, Big Ben, and the Manning Bros are the only qbs to win more than once. The latter guys all won twice. All due respect to all the bright up and coming qbs. Tom is the mountain whos shadow you will never escape.

Usually all you ever hear is how great the Pats defenses were .. so many fail to mention that he had to go up against some of the best defenses of all time over the years like you mentioned.. and that his defenses were usually good but they tended to choke in the bigger games, and allow easy gimmie points or plays at the worst time.. examples would be 07 SB v Giants, 17 SB v Eagles, 06 AFC Title v Colts...

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me to see his records broken. With an extra game, a pass-friendly rulebook, and these young guys taking more risks downfield against handicapped defenses, we've already seen guys like Mahomes, Dak, and Herbert throw for over 5k yards. With rules designed to protect QBs, the likelihood of these guys all having long careers is increased, giving them more opportunity to rack up stats. It makes a lot of sense that the great ones like Mahomes could and may very well surpass Brady's passing stats at some point. Now passing Brady on this rings is another story... The perfect storm narrative is BS. At the time Brady took over, the team started 0-2 and was 5-11 the season before. BB was about to be fired. The reason they lasted 20 years was because they kept winning once Brady started. How many QBs would be able to deal with BB coaching style for twenty years? Compare that to Rodgers inheriting a 13-3 team and Mahomes a team that went to the playoffs the previous years. BB did not have the reputation that he has now when Brady first started. McCarthy and Reid had much better resumes and reputations than BB when Rodgers and Mahomes first took over for their teams. This narrative the Brady was put in an ideal situation is not true. The only thing you can argue was that Brady was fortunate that Bledsoe got hurt when he did to open the door for him starting.

Brady at the end of career had to duel against Mahomes in his prime, if Brady had lost their two playoff matchups (AFC Championship, and SuperBowl), they would be 5 - 3 in superbowl rings which would give Mahomes a chance to tie and exceed him. Yes, it's a team game, but still quite an accomplishment for Brady to defeat his last great rival.

It is a team game, which makes Brady that much more special. Mahomes is part of a three man show. Give him Edelman, Amendola, and Gronk and see if he does as well. Or a Troy Brown, and that crew, or you pick the three. The only totally lights out receiver he ever had was Moss

If you ever played a competitive team sport you know there were great players who put up great numbers every year and didn’t win. It’s not that they ever choked, they just didn’t win for whatever reason. Then there were other great players that may not have even been as good as an individual talent. But they just always won. Something about having them on your team just made everyone confident and play better. That’s Tom Brady. Not necessarily the individual talent of Rodgers or mahomes but he just finds a way to win.

Even if Mahomes went on to win this year he's still very far off when you consider his style of play. He's not going to be able to play QB the way he does currently when he's 30+ years of age with a decade of taking hits in the NFL. He'll slow down like every does and then he'll have to make better reads and play better within the pocket. Not only would he have to have the longevity to chase down those titles but he'd also have to drastically change the way he plays QB. He makes up for a lot with physical gifts that he's not always going to have as he ages.

There was that funny story someone was interviewing Peyton manning. And they were talking about Tom and he goes “yeah, they give a lot of credit to Eli or Myself but I give credit to my mom. Without her, Brady would have five more rings.”

As much as I think he’s went up against some good QBs. You have to mention the defenses he’s played against. 00’s Ravens, Legion of Boom, Steelers defense, current Rams defense, Saints, giants defense of the years he lost in SB.

It took roughly 100 years for someone to pull off what Tom Brady did. There’s nothing to say that it won’t take another hundred years for someone else to do the same or better.

If Brady were not playing in the NE system of defense, running games, shot passing game system, what his stats might be compared to the rest of the super QBs like Brees and Manning? We saw it in Tampa, he can rack up yards and TDs more than anyone including the young gunslingers.

Brady sacrificed money for glory. He took less money so he could have a better team around him. As much as I love Brees, that willingness to do that and also avoiding injury is what cost him championships. I can’t think of anyone who can catch Brady without making that sacrifice and playing for at least 20 plus years.

I don't think anyone will be able to duplicate such a career. But, in this pass happy league I think it's theoretically possible. Will Mahomes or Josh Allen, or Joe Burrow or Herbert catch him in TD? Maybe. Completions and yards? Maybe. They may become incredible QBs, Hall of Fame maybe. But will they be as great as Tom Brady? Will they be anywhere near the winner he was? It's almost impossible. To make 10 superbowls and win in 7 of them (debatably should have won more), to never have a losing season in 20 years, to go 243-73 in regular season and 35-12 in post season. To throw 624 TD and only 203 INT. To be this successful with so many different players, different teams, different coaching staff minus Bill of course. To turn nobody recievers into important pieces of a dominant offense. To conquer the most ludicrous, impossible comebacks in both regular and post season, even superbowls. To be a role model on and off the field. It's just not possible. The game is changing. It's now easier than ever to throw TDs, score points, easier to not throw interceptions, harder for defenses to even play their positions due to the modern rules, and there's even another game to be played each season. It's possible someone could catch up to his numbers, but will they catch up to his greatness? No. Never.

Joey Franchise, Herbert, Lamar, Josh Allen are all in the AFC. And I think Zac Wilson or Trevor Lawerence, one of them will be in that echelon of young QBs (remember Josh Allen was not good his rookie year and both QBs are on bad teams especially Trevor) Mahomes gonna be in shootouts for now on. The AFC is a blood bath for the next 5-7 years at least

@@smiley7090 Delusional. Jones is a quick processor, but he HAS to be. He has a weak arm so the ball has to be out FAST. The problem with anticipatory throwers is they need a clean pocket or EXCELLENT pocket feet. Mac Jones is Andy Dalton. Only delusional Patriots fans think he's the 2nd coming.

@@superdestructo I swear only racists keep taking shots at Lamar. QBR, so what? Brady's had so-so years with QBR. What was Josh Allen when he was young? Didn't Eli Manning LEAD the league in INTs like 4 times and still win 2 Super Bowls. Please cut the hate. Also the MVP in 2016, Matt Ryan, had a QBR of 70-something, barely above Lamar's 67 QBR, and this most RECENT season, the Ravens suffered, along with the Titans, the most injuries of any team in the NFL. Lamar went 8-3 with 3rd stringers before he got hurt. Lamar won unanimous MVP and has a winning record EVERY SEASON he's been in the NFL, including making the playoffs as a ROOKIE. Wenztz hasn't done ANY of this and you IGNORE the number 1 variable: Lamar is almost always the fastest dude on the field. Haters gonna hater. Lamar just WINS and WINS, like Brady.
