@@gdknght9581 I see the point, but you still have to play those teams that “weren’t guaranteed” when it came time in the playoffs. Those teams included The Gruden/Gannon led Raiders that went onto the Super Bowl the next year, The Top seeded Steelers that same year, and the Greatest Show on Turf. Next they knocked off the CO MVPs in consecutive weeks in McNair and Manning and beat a pretty explosive Panthers team. They than beat future champions in the Steelers and Colts as well as an Eagles team that was in the NFC championship game year after year leading up to that. They knocked off the best Chargers roster of all time, then did it again (although with Rivers on a bad leg) But you still had LT, Gates, and that defense. They knocked off the Ravens twice during their Super Bowl runs and a colts team lead by Andrew Luck. They beat the legion of Boom…down 10 in the 4th. They beat the Falcons down 28-3 and then the next year followed it up by appearing in another Super Bowl after beating the number one defence (again) in the title game and eventually falling to the eagles (throwing 500 plus yards). The next year they dominated the Rams who had (similar to the falcons) one of the top offenses in the league. And in Tampa, Tom went through Brees, Rodgers, and Mahomes. The competition was THERE. They just weren’t good enough.

I already believed Tom Brady was The Goat before then but being able to be at Superbowl 51 and watch it with my own 2 eyes is one of the greatest things I've ever witnessed. To be able to lead his team back down 28-3 with alot of help from the defense to tie and win in OT is something I'll remember forever. But that game solidified and closed the book on The Goat conversation

The Cleveland Browns' Automatic Otto Graham took them to 10 straight nfl championship games and he won 7 of them, in half the time it took Brady. I agree Brady is the GOTE, Greatest Of This Era, but Graham was also the GOTE, Greatest Of That Era, and 30-40 years from now someone else will be the GOTE, Greatest Of That Era. I promise you future fans will dismiss Brady for their GOTE saying that Brady wasn't in as competitive a league as their own.

I definitely didn’t think he was the GOAT before the comeback against the Falcons. 3 rings in his first 4 years - when he was undeniably a worse QB than after those years - pretty much means those rings were more the Pats as a team and less Brady. But the comeback against the Falcons, on the greatest stage, with the ball in his hands, that’s where he cemented his legacy as the greatest QB in NFL history. When he moved to Tampa and won another ring, I mean not even Montana did anything like that. GOAT NFL player period (at least for this current era - the future is unwritten and rule changes, changes to NFL business model affecting players, free agency etc. can change the playing field).

One of Brady's most mind-boggling stats to me: Brady effectively played 20 seasons, not counting his rookie year when he backed up Bledsoe or 2008 when he was injured. He went to 10 Super Bowls and won 7. He went to the SB for HALF HIS CAREER, and won it for more than 1/3rd of his career. Unreal levels of success. I don't expect to see anything like this again in my lifetime, Shannon's right.
