NOBODY would help this LADY, not even the Neighbors, she didn’t think we could do it

This week we were notified by a lady who mentioned her Mom and Dad haven’t been able to mow their yard all year, Mom has some health issues and walks with a cane, husband recently died. What was really alarming is she almost collapsed in the 95 degree weather! As I drove down this dirt road, it was so far out in the country away from everything, I couldn’t even get cell signal. I arrived at the dead end road and noticed the swampy looking grass and I noticed something dangerous going across the yard which could kill someone instantly. Drop a comment and let me know your thoughts! As I walked around the property I noticed an awesome outbuilding and a beautiful 5 acres of lawn that even she didn’t think we could do!
Grab a coffee, toss your legs up on the chair and enjoy this lady’s story as you get to watch us mow this yard at least 5 times. Wait until you see her response at the end, this is why we do this! She was such a sweetheart! Should we go back? You bet, and we will have a massive surprise for her!

I'm 74 my husband is 72 and we live in my old family home which sits on 2 and a half archers together we take care of the whole thing including a swimming pool I'm not sure how much longer we can do it we have 3 kids who are understandably not able to help they have jobs most all our grandkids are adults and have jobs and no time so we try hard no matter how hard it is we keep almost the entire properly mowed groomed even the house work we keep a clean and tidy home but I have to admit it would be nice if they could find some time for us even to come and visit,

No excusing your children and grandchildren! We are the same age and the ONLY reason why they can't help is because they live in different states than us. In your case, if they live nearby, they need to help mom and dad. One day both of you won't be here anymore, and they'll regret not spending time with you. They can't devote ONE Saturday every other week to help? When did they turn so selfish? Kids, jobs, errands, cleaning, shopping--all the things that working people all over the world have to do, yet they somehow find the time to go to a movie, or the mall, or to the baseball game...again, no excuse.

A lot of people are trigger-happy, and while I don't let that ruin my sense of community here, I think I'd want them to ask first before I took initiative. Some people are particular about their property and their lawns.

I would think twice about living that far out by myself, and having health problems, she has a lot of property and can’t care for it, does she have any family that can help her? If it were me, I would sell and get someone to help care for me in town, with medical support, with what she would get for that property. I feel for her, and I know your helping for now, but what about in six months from now? I am 85, but I live in town, neighbors check on me, and my kids call, I can pay for a housekeeper. Only two miles from hospital. You’re a good man Eric.

I don't know the value of land where that lady lives, she might not make a large profit if she sells it but surely she can't stay there alone much longer!! It's a real dilemma about what to do when we get older and can't take care of our property or ourselves - I certainly understand those that want to stay in their forever home but sometimes we must downsize.
