It worked!! I watched this video then went outside, dug a small hole in one of the tunnel mounds and stuck a water hose in it (in the direction of the tunnel hole) and around 2-3 mins later about 3 feet away there was movement at the top of the tunnel. I got a shovel and dug the mole up in one scoop. I repeated the water hose process in several locations through out the yard but did not see any more activity. Hopefully it was the only mole and there are not others.

My husky is the same way! I’ve seen him look at the grass where there is no apparent sign of anything going on, and he’ll start digging and catch Thompson moles (the biggest there are,I hear) . He doesn’t eat them like he does the rabbits he catches, but just kills them.

I discovered how to make them leave my yard for good and go live in your yard instead. Dolomite Lime costs less than 10 bucks for 50 pounds . just sprinkle it on the grass , raises the PH makes the grass grow bright green but them moles don't like it on their skin , itchy

Its real simple bro! Ingredients: chair, pitchfork and a beer. Directions: Look for pushed up fresh dirt pile. (Gotta be the fresh wet dirt, not dried out for 3 days) Step on pile of dirt with shoes. Pull chair up next to flattened dirt. Sit in chair holding pitchfork(at least a 6 tine) and sip on beer. When dirt starts moving(usually 5-10 min) do not panic and jump up, but set beer down and get ready. Let him push the dirt up so you can tell where he's at. Place tines gently on ground and when you think the time is right, send it! As soon as tines are in the ground, push down on handle like u'r diggin with a spade and lift it all out of the ground. If he's not on the tine(which he usually is), look for a wet tine and u'll know at least it went thru him. If we could put pic's on here, I'd post a few. And its usually just one mole thats tearing everything up. I've gotten moles out with small digging feet and I've gotten moles out that had moose antlers on their front legs!...lol. Those are the diggin sumbiches there!

I stopped counting at 12 moles last Summer .. Victor Plunger and Mole Trap 1001 are the two that worked for me .. stomp the trails, check back, trap the active trail, usually within the same day, one less mole .. I tried the flooding, and made tons of mud, and one angry wife .... I am glad that your method works, and will give it a try this year. I feel like I might have killed all of the STUPID moles early, and now will be fighting the SMARTER moles this year.

I've gone through all the b..s..that doesn't work. I Now I am interested only what works . The best thing I have had going yet, is take a 3 or 4 tines hay fork, & l Slam the tines straight down into their tunnel, & slowly keep moving along & keep slamming the tines into the ground till you have covered the length of the run. I won't say it is 100%, but better than spending lots of money on all the gimmicks that do nothing...Good luck my friends!..The Country Cow Boy!

I worked in pest control for almost 10yrs and moles were the worst for me. I've had luck with worms (on customers property where violent bludgeoning is frowned upon), but by the time your correctly use them you could just use a shovel or pitch fork. They are VERY territorial and they never stop moving so it may look like an army of them are in your yard...but so long as the tunnels are connected it's only one. I'm interested to try you method, otherwise just stomp down a as much of the tunnel as you can find and then throughout the day go back and check them, often times you'll find them going through pushing the tunnels back open (you can see the ground moving) at which point you get them with a pitch fork or potato fork. Same thing though, probably a 2-4hr job on a weekend. Thanks for the video.

My brother used a combination of gopher traps and a Rat Terrier. The traps seldom caught a mole, but they would go off and ole' Max would hear it, run to the spot, listen, and then dig 'em up. He loved it. Of course, Max's digging caused more damage than the moles, but who cares? It was fun! Max had a job he loved, and his holes were easy to fill.

LOL 😂. I hear you buddy. I’ve got about 7 acres of front lawn. These moles moved in about a year ago and started making a mess around the new pond and on the rolling hillsides. I am an expert at finding their trails, setting powerful traps that grab and hold them. It’s working great for me. I have 3 traps that I move around as necessary. I use the same flags used by utility companies to mark their lines to mark the location of the traps and a pare of binoculars from my porch to monitor the situation;-). Now, just for fun I may one day locate a new mound, connect the auger to my tractor and just see how deep these critters dig.
@paulmodesitt5504
@paulmodesitt5504 2 жыл бұрын
My friend, they go 3-4 ft. deep! When you find a hill that’s been successful, keep a trap there until you catch another. If you do, continue to keep trap there for months. You’ve found the main run, or “ honey hole”! If rain settles in trap, lift up,& reset, as ground has become hardened, disabling quick set. Yes, I use sharpshooter shovel to loosen soil before setting trap. My preferred trap for this is a Nash snare double hoop trap. They’re difficult to learn to set,& design needs redoing, as they can hang up on themselves. A rat tail file,& prior drill reaming is cure however. Also pre paint hoops,& keep them sanded smooth. This works just like clockwork,& look at your trap VERY close, as will have a customer without notice!! Deep running moles are frustrating, but last year in Midwest, caught last one same hole on December 17; fact. No BS here, enjoy.

I've had good success with zinc phosphide bait. I had a mole invade my yard and tried the repellant. It will seem to prevent more damage but it only isolates the mole from moving further and it keeps other burrowing varmit away. When I used the mole bait next to an active hill, it worked. Activity ceased in very short time. The bait was packaged in a cone-like container so that its end could be used as a dirt penetrator to the evacuated active tunnel and the bait is easy to plant and cover. But you found a solid way to kill the little rascals too.

I’ve gone to our local auction for years and accumulated 37 mole traps in that time. Several different kinds and styles. Now, as soon as I see new mole evidence in my yard, I “saturation trap” them. I’ll set out 29 of my best traps and will catch him within an hour. Don’t buy the traps new if you do it this way as you’ll go broke.

I have to agree with your method. I started putting hash marks on my garage wall (6 or 7 over the years) using a method like yours. For me they were all done by finding a mound of dirt and digging down until I found the hollow/tunnel. I've heard/read in more than one place that this is dirt from it's nest/den. Then I turn on a hose full open stick it down in there and start flooding the system. Then watch for it to surface. Then good night mole. The only thing that I found that could beat that is a dog that would sit and watch for them and dig them up. A friend of mine from HS had a Doberman that would do that and they never had mole problems. They didn't even have to train it. Unfortunately that wonderful specimen has long since passed.

I use spring loaded Victor Plunger style mole traps. Everything else is a waste of time & energy. They cost a few bucks but they're more than well worth it. Once you learn how to use them properly they are deadly. Very important once you trap the mole and pull the trap out of the ground make sure to leave the dead mole in the ground to rot. They don't like the smell of their decaying bodies. Yet another deterrent motivating them to move on out. I have a acre and a half of land with a 23000 square foot lawn which borders some woods. Trust me on this I've killed a ton of moles over the years.

My dad has always used sulfur and a propane weed burner to control moles, you clean the tops off every mole hill you can find without plugging them with dirt so there is optimal airflow between them all, then pour a half cup or so of sulfur into each hole. Once each hole has a pile of sulfur in it, take a propane weed burner and blast the hole for about a minute or two, then plug that hole with dirt. Move on to the next hole, rinse and repeat. The sulfur vapor collects on the walls of the tunnels and makes them unlivable for the mole which is immensely sensitive to smell. They usually don't come back for most of a year after the treatment, and once you do the bulk of it the upkeep is easy, as soon as you see a single mole hill you blast it good with sulfur and you won't see another one for months. Those smoke bombs are a joke, if they are the equivalent of firecrackers, the sulfur and torch method is a hand grenade.

I was paid $100 for the last mole I trapped. I suggest you use a mole trap made by Trapline Traps. I cleaned up an entire golf course using them. A more immediate, but labor intensive, method I developed is as follows. I drilled a 2" hole in the side of a 5 gallon bucket and attached a 2" PVC fitting that would accommodate a vacuum cleaner exhaust hose. Find a fresh mound, clean it out, place a smoker down it, and place the pail with the vacuum attached upside down over the hole. Sit on the pail and watch the smoke define the moles tunnels even when they're not visible before hand. You won't have to bother disposing of the mole.

What I do is stomp down all of their tunnels then check back for repaired tunnels. This gives me an idea of what sector they're in out of the entire maze network.. I use the C shaped clamp traps and put them near an intersection. Usually works quite well. The trick is doing the traps correctly and making sure you cover up the entire trap with grass/dirt to prevent light from coming through.

Have I got a mole story for you. Being in the landscape business. I got a call from a regular customer to clean up the back yard in the autumn which meant to cut back some of the perennials. She has soft sandy soil all in the backyard, and the tunnels made by those moles are everywhere. I'm raking up the trimmings, and I see in the corner of my eye some underground movement. I figured they were moles, and they are a pest. always digging underground tunneling everywhere. So I stopped, and the mole is coming closer towards me. All the sudden it pops it's head up thru the grass. It's back is towards me, and I hear it say, "ummmmmm, I smell maple syrup!" What the hell? Next I see another lump in the ground in the same tunnel, and it's moving in the same direction of the first mole, and that mole pops up out of the same hole and I hear it say, "ummmmm, I smell honey!" Holy shit, two of them. I picked up my plastic rake, so it didn't feel the vibration coming from it, and I held my breath . Then I see still in the same tunnel, a smaller lump, another mole moving towards the other two. It got right underneath them both, and try as it might, it just couldn't squeeze thru the other two, and I heard it complain, "hey, all I smell is moleasses." True story.

I NEED a “Moler”. - Is whatever sanctioned dog breeding association here aware that Americans NEED a “Moler” dog bred for this purpose! - I expect this Working dog would need to be a smaller, tenacious, energetic dog that, over generations, would develop sturdy digging front paws and a slightly longer and thinner snout (no, not Aardvarky) with good canines up front. - Who knows a dog breeder they could ask??

My brother had a Rat Terrier. Same thing. Ole' Max had a job that he loved and was proud to show his work. My brother would set gopher traps. They seldom caught anything, but they made a loud noise when tripped. Max would jump up, run to trap's area, listen, and dig 'em up! We'd reward him with praise and extra love. Most dogs want a job. The best way to kill them is find the main tunnel, take a piece of the top of tunnel off and put 2 spring traps in it and cover it up again. Check it Every day and reset. Most yards only have 2 moles it them. Max 4 moles but normally just 1 or 2. This is what we do. I work for a large pest company

I have a big yard and the only way I ever got kills was what you said. I took garden hose and flooded their tunnels but by doing that they would come up out of holes or you can see where they are trying to tunnel away from water. I get them with shovel. I killed eleven of them one summer. Someone said there are only 2 to 4 per yard. Wrong I got 11 of them and there were more that I couldnt get. And they were back the next year. And I still have them. A .another way I got some was drove over the area back and forth and flattened the whole area ,the next day they would be working to reopen their tunnels and you can see rite where they are and shovel gets the kill. Good luck.

I use a rodenator, 97% oxygen 3% propane on the farms. I can make on the average 45 blast per hr. But about 1 out of 100 blast you check to see if you still have legs. I am sure it is killing some but we set traps after that. My understanding is about 4 moles per acre on the average. The females have 2 litters per year of 5 each litter. I don't think I will ever be finished with moles. They are hard on hay equipment.

Flatten grass down come back an hour later and look for signs of moles return . Poke holes in new runs and pour a shot glass or more of Clorox into holes leave holes open so vapor will travel easier . Chlorine is HEAVER than air so it will sink to lowest part of tunnel and moles can’t out run the gas . Might have to do this a couple times , I haven’t .

Moles are a conspiracy to get us to buy lots of stuff. to kill them. They might go elsewhere for a time, but the generations return. A Dog I had growing up would dig all day, trying to follow varmint tunnels. Leave and come back in two hours, still digging.

You probably do not have moles. Chances are it would be voles. Voles are near the surface and instead of extensive digging, they eat their way through the roots and grass, unless they take over a mole hole to nest. Voles are vegetarians, moles eat worms, grubs and bugs.

Probably voles. Holes are underneath the pile of dirt they pack out. Wipe loose stuff away. You will see their holes.

Do a Milky Spore treatment to your lawn, no grubs means no moles. Also if you spray castor oil mixed with soapy water around your house, starting close to the house then working towards the edge of your property, you'll drive them off your property. I did the castor oil and had great success, although you have to reapply after rains. The milky spore treatment takes about a season or 2 to take full effect on the grubs but after that it normally lasts 10 years or more🖒

they eat large numbers of eathworms, so getting rid of grubs doesn't work. Also I grow Castor Bean Plants, and moles will literally tunnel right up next to them, they are not bothered at all by them.

If you put something in your yard that kills all the bugs under the grass the moles will move on. A dry yard in the south keep bugs away from your yard. Remove their food source and they'll move on to greener pastures.

The power company says it is common to see their tunnels 4 feet deep where we are 50 miles north of ST. Paul MN. So like he says trying to flood them is normally out, and is hard to gas them I have had luck with piece of flex pipe on lawnmower muffler and stuck in hole wide open for several hours at a time. Or a good dog or at a last resort traps if you are good at it.

My dogs have killed 37 moles in 4years. The moles don’t come out on grass very often because they smell the dogs . They seem to stay in bush area and fenced garden, then they go over to my neighbours who doesn’t have a dog.

I’ve had my most luck with the mole claw I engage the claw lock it always. Put down in hole stomp the dirt down around the claw cover with the dirt around the hole and cover with a non holed bucket the bucket attracts the mole because of the shade it provides a few days later the mole is caught. It does kill them though. Sometimes snaps them in half but it works. I live on 3 acres so water in the holes would take me years . I’ve tried that and it doesn’t work. Also my handy shot gun works if I’m really pissed at its destruction. My husband calls me the mole lady because I’m so good at using my claw method. You Dan purchase the he claw on Amazon or E bay try it it works

Franko Blondee They are bait worms that look a lot like the rubber worms that one uses to fish with. You just poke a hole in the mole trail and drop the worm in. Then lightly cover the hole you made. I use two at a time spaced out several feet apart. One here, one there. Works every time. Look up Tomcat Mole Worms on Amazon.
