This is my fave tinted sunscreen!! It works great for my oily skin. Even if I do grease up its a glow, not a full on slick. It doesn't sweat off and reaplies like a DREAM. I haven't worn foundation in 2 years, just this and I LOVE it.

I’ve used this for a long time now. It’s excellent for my very oily skin, especially in the summer heat. It doesn’t melt off. The tint works for my fair skin, although I believe they redid this to have multiple shades of tint!

*just an FYI!!!! In terms of sunscreen active % and why one sunscreen might be a 30 and the other a 50 even though they have the same % of actives is due to the SIZE and QUALITY of the zinc and titanium itself. They aren't all created equal some are smaller particle size, some are larger, some are better quality and so on and so forth. That's the answer to the question. It has to do with quality of the active and also the PARTICLE SIZE.*

This is my ride or die sunscreen for Phoenix heat and sun. I have oily/combo skin and it's not drying at all on me and I don't use an AM moisturizer. The tint hides any cast and my makeup sits beautifully on it. I appreciate that it's waterproof and doesn't budge. I have to double cleanse with a oil balm to get it off my skin. A bargain at twice the price. I just found the spf 50 body ss for kids at tj Maxx for $5. Snapped that baby up.

Great review and you are so funny today! I wear this every single day. Have tried others. Can use my foundation over it or alone with results like a bb cream coverage. Great primer. Lasts 16 hours! I've never had to reapply. Never had a burn. I have melasma, it prevents flare ups. Works for my skin tone, its more pink than yellow. It can be drying in the winter, I have combo to oily skin. I just use a more oily heavy moisturizer at that time of year to prevent drying, but all zinc oxide sunscreens are drying. People complaining about the % of zinc don't realize that the iron oxides and red algae multiply the uv filters, which makes it better than other higher %zinc sunscreens. I find it very soothing to wear when my skin is irritated. It is very water resistant, never get it on my clothes. I agree it goes on a bit like glue, so even though this is not recommended, I add a small drop of a bb cream to mix into my palm before application. That also helps with removal. Very affordable, can find sales. Since it sticks like glue, I do have to use an oil cleanser and double wash. But I don't mind that. Can't say enough good things about this sunscreen! LOL

Australian name 'sells' here in N.America especially. Even wayyyyy back 'in the day' tanning booth/bed companies all carried tan booster products that often started with Australian name to help amp up skin to receive the light rays used in beds. Especially in Canada it all sells great as Cdn's luv OZ and N.Zealand so anything with Aussie and Kiwi imagery sells here.

Yay! My HG! This wasn’t in my subscription feed yesterday and I thought that you’ve already reviewed this in the past. I went to look up that review and found this lol. Glad you asked us to look up this review on the Clinique review lol. For my skin type, I love how this just stays so well all day. For extra sunny days, I will layer a chemical sunscreen under it just to get extra UVA protection. The finish on my combo oily skin is fantastic. I’m always looking for water resistant sunscreens as that is a bit of an added bonus, that it’ll stay a bit better on the skin. Removal isn’t a problem with the double cleansing method. Great review and info on the red algae. You’re the best 👍👍

I just found this ingredient so fascinating and how it can be as effective as other chemical filters was amazing! Australian Gold uses it in many of their Sunscreens. Soleil Toujours uses this in their Sunscreen Mists with SPF 30 and 50. It looks like Ahava uses it in their Age Control Even Tone Moistuizer. Another brand that uses it is called BurnOut, which I've never heard of until today. Although this brand looks pretty good, I'm going to have to do more reading up on them. I'm also wondering if other types of algae extracts can offer additional sun protection the way Porphyra Umbilicalis does. Going to have to read up on that. Sounds like I've got my quarantine Sunday all filled up now! 😀😀

Wow this was the best sunscreen review I've ever seen. You are the best thank you :) I'm getting this sunscreen in the mail tomorrow and I'm really excited to try it out! It's the cheapest tinted/mineral I could find on Amazon that still seemed to be of good quality. I was using the CeraVe 30spf tinted mineral sunscreen which I liked. But I was paying more money for a tiny 1.7 ounce bottle where as the Australian Gold was less expensive and for a full 3 ounce bottle. I really hope it works for me and becomes my go to.

I just bought this today in the UK. It's £22 in a shop called NEXT, and there's not many places we can buy it here... I never store it in store.. I had to buy it online and pick up in store haha. It's the best price I've seen around here for a 100% mineral sunscreen though... it's 88ml which is a big bottle too. Anyway, I've wanted to try this for a while as mineral sunscreens usually irritate my eyes less. I quite like applying a chemical one first, then a mineral, just to boost protection. Also, I'd say with this one, it would be hard to apply the right amount to protect my skin properly, as I'm quite fair and I think the tint would build up too quickly. I've only tried it on once today, but it seems nice. I didn't put it too close to my eyes yet but haven't noticed irritation so far. At first it looked really sleek and shiny but thankfully it dried down really well. I have oily skin so I do need that. It reduced the oily look of my skin before applying. I did find it a tad drying under my eyes. I was concerned how it could have achieved and SPF 50 with just 4% of each active ingredient. I know the formulation is important but even so. Sounds like the UVA protection is okay but not as good as I'd like. Another reason to apply a chemical one underneath really.

I like this one, but if I was going to be in the sun all day I typically go with something chemical, and sweatproof like Anessa or Biore. I also wonder about the SPF of this one, I know the algae helps with the protection, but the percentages are a bit on the low side. This is a nice one for day-to-day protection though, just not on days going to the beach.

This is my favorite sunscreen when I don’t want to apply foundation. You really don’t need foundation. Of course you need to use a moisturizer before applying it and all your skin care routine. I like the ingredients, it smells a bit weird, but I don’t mind and yes, you need to double cleanse at the end of the day, because it doesn’t come off easily, but hey, that should be a good sign for your protection while wearing it :) so again, I don’t mind double cleanse gently with an oil followed by a gentle face cleanser. The price is also much better than other sunscreens for the size.

Thanks for the review. I think the reason for the difference in spf has to do with the overall formulation. Another KZbinr dr. Dray talked about on her channel how the percent of the zinc/titanium dioxide in sunscreen is not important because of how the formulations are.

I really like this - I use it as a secondary sunscreen, layered over something light like Biore UV. I don’t like it as an all over sunscreen because it does transfer and it’s quite silicone-y. But I use this like a concealer/foundation to even out my skin tone - the color melts into my fair skin beautifully.

So glad your website will get an additional brand to your collection "Clarins" xD it's a good thing that you are reviewing a sunscreen. Oh and their US sunscreens suck so don't even bother, only their European ones are great and they use brand new filters, plus the sunscreens are reef-safe. You can also try their Dry Touch Facial Sun Care UVA/UVB 50+ which has an SPF of over 60 and features the UVA seal which means it has a UVAPF of at least 20, though I am not a fan because it has Tinosorb M so it can leave a white cast but on you it might not be noticeable, but cause of Tinosorb M, I prefer the SPF 30 option. They also have a gel-in-oil sun care SPF 50 sunscreen which is their newest addition to their sunscreen lineup, they also have sprays for hair and body as well as pressed powder, sticks, emulsion and mineral sunscreen options, some exclusive to certain regions like Asia. I'm not too hot on mineral sunscreens though so I avoid those, also not a big fan of sprays, I only use mists to top up SPF. Their "White Plus" range is the asian counterpart to bright plus in the US, it is not available in Europe except recently they made it an online exclusive. It is cause asians love whitening products and they are obsessed with brightening and whitening their faces

Hi Sarah. I’m curious about mineral sunscreens. I have combo dry sensitive type skin. I haven’t found a mineral one yet that didn’t just make my skin feel so tight several hours in. I use moisturizer under ( light one) and layer lots of hydration underneath. I like the idea of a zinc only product, but they just overall seem too drying. ( including this one. What is the most hydrating mineral sunscreen you’ve tried? Is it purito. I haven’t tried comfy water block but am trying it next.
@NOBSBeauty
@NOBSBeauty 4 жыл бұрын
I totally know what you mean. There's a few that tend to be more Hydrating. The Purito Water Comfy is great. I'd also add, the Peter Thomas Roth Max Mineral Naked SPF 45. The Farmacy Green Screen is rather Hydrating. The Drunk Elephant Umbra Tint Sunscreen is also very emollient, almost too much, but the one issue I have with that one is it can make skin a lie itchy after 6-8 hours of wear. The last one is the Supergoop! Glow Screen.

I’m medium brown skin but this tint looks horrible on my face. Also doesn’t work very well at the hairline. Makes me look a bit ashy. It’s not too big of a deal if you put makeup over it but just by itself was no bueno

I actually really like this sunscreen too. At first, I found it a bit drying, but I use Squalane underneath it each morning and this seems to have resolved this problem. For those who have trouble washing it off, do you use an oil cleanser at night? I don’t have any issues at all because I double cleanse. I agree that it can make my brown Indian skin look a bit ashy but it seems to subside after a while. Also, it makes an excellent primer for make up. I can’t wait to try the BB cream you mentioned. I am just trying to figure out if the ingredients differ from the sunscreen and how different the three shades are from this one. Sadly there are no pictures of the colors on the website 😞 Is this sunscreen the same color as the medium to tan BB cream? If anyone knows, please help a girl out!

Oh nice thanks! I’ll have to check the shades out. I double cleanse too so removal of anything is not a problem. Yep indian skin here too so hoping one of the other ones work. I’ll try the squalane hopefully that helps it work better

4tun8nanette I switched to a Japanese sunscreen Shiseido Senka 50+. It doesn’t irritate my face or make it feel dry. My dark spots gave improved, too. I got it on Amazon.

Mikael Ortiz have you tried the double cleansing method? First step: oil based remover/ cleanser, (I tend to use the ponds cleansing balm and it works quite well for me but there are better options on the market) Second step: use a gentle face cleanser suited for your skin type.

I find the clinique cleansing balm takes my sunscreen off (I use blue lizard mineral which is great, but also tough to remove).Then I follow up with my cleanser (Dove Sensitive Skin bar). Works everytime. Oily skin gal for reference. Hope this helps!

Just a note: although they are now offering it in 3 tints, the formula hasn't changed. They just decided to list the ingredients in descending order of percentages instead of alphabetical order!

Yes, you are right it isn't made or sold in Australia. Same with Aussie hair products, as an Aussie I find it funny especially since it isn't available here to buy either. SMH 🤦🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ same with the outback restaurant chain, which makes all Aussies cringe when they go there. What is up with the blooming onion, it certainly isn't something we eat here either. When it comes to Koalas, over 50.000 died in the bush fires this year. Around 25.000 died on Kangaroo Island alone, which I know you loved when visiting earlier. Unfortunately we are logging a lot of the Koalas' habitat and food source and combined with the fires, it is to the point of where they are almost on the endangered species list. Very sad indeed 😭

Definitely not an Australian sunscreen, but can be bought online in Australia.. Australian sunscreens must have large amounts of niaciamide as it boosts your sunscreen to protect against skin cancer this one doesn’t contain any b3 at all

Such a bummer, have you been able to find one that works better? The EltaMd UV Clear SPF 46 is always a decent option for skin that if acne prone or has a tough time with other Sunscreens. The Purito Water Comfy Sunscreen is also a good option.

Not enough Zinc Oxide to protect your skin from burning

I'm Australian and I could never find this product to purchase after seeing all the reviews. I was frustrated and after further investigation, its not even made locally or available to purchase here (like you've confirmed in your review) which is pretty damn misleading. Talk about false advertising...yikes. Another fun fact: As amazing as Euchalyptus is as a fragrant oil for inhalation or other remedies, it's also used as a cleaning solvent here in Aust to remove sticky gums or dissolve dried glue or thick stains from objects lol. I use the pure oil at home, along with peppermint oil, in a humidifier, but would never in a million years catch me using it on skin, let alone sensitive facial skin..ever. Makes me wonder what Euchalyptus "extract" it is that they say they're using

I don't think 4% Zinc Oxide gives a good UVA Protection. I would recommend looking for a sunscreen with at least 10% Zinc Oxide

Check out Lab Muffin's video on "why homemade sunscreen is a bad idea", she explains in full detail how the percentage of filters doesn't matter - it's all about formula. 4% zinc oxide can give one formula a SPF 50 and 20% can give SPF 30 in another one.

Too bad their new tints don't have a really fair tint. The old tint that they had they labeled it as "fair to light". Which is funny because it is really more of a medium tint and makes anyone with fair skin look orange.
