I love both Australian Gold and Elta MD. AG is more for oily skin since it does dry down pretty quickly and mattifies, but could be too drying for those with dry skin. The Elta MD is great, but much more expensive than the AG but is not as drying. Another great option for those who have drier skin is DRMTLGY Broad Spectrum SPF 45 tinted and the newer CeraVe Tinted sunscreens are less $$ than Elta MD and work great!

Actually a physical blocking sunscreen you can go out in the sun immediately. The chemical ones you should wait 15 minutes because it needs the sun to activate the chemicals for it to work. Chemical sunscreens need time to penetrate the skin in order for the sun to make it work. I hope that makes sense. 🤗

Nice review, MissAsh, I've spent a little time this morning watching your videos and since I'm in the market for another sunscreen, had to check this out. I've seen these reviewed before, but I need more than one opinion and you don't rush through things like some of the other beauty gurus. There are a couple that I like a lot but they have given into a**bad habit of editing so that it seems unnatural. They seen to want to make the video short, so they almost cut themselves off before they finish a sentence, etc. Or even in the middle of sentences as well.. I would rather hear them voice their thoughts completely. I do appreciate how thorough you are☺ The sunscreens are important bc I have a daughter who walks to work everyday, (she's a nurse, and I'm always concerned for her, but especially now). Right now, and every couple of months, they have these wild heat waves where she lives (on another continent, not In North America).. So I want her & my 3 little grandchildren to always wear sunscreen now while they are young. My daughter is still quite young too, and if she will wear SPF everyday there is no need for anyone in her generation or the very young children's generation to grow up and have wrinkled sagging skin after age 50 no reason for anyone to have to look like that ever again, since we have these perfected sunscreens. They can all be protected against the UVA rays which cause the Aging, the breakdown of collagen and so forth.. What happened with the spot on your face? Was it a benign place? I didn't catch what happened with that. I'm in the SouthEast US right on the coast. We have 7 beaches all within a 10 to 20 min drive and of course everyone has a boat, too. So sunscreens see a year round need here ( as they are every place of course) as we now know that the UVA rays are equally strong in the early morning as in the dead of winter, unlike the UVB rays which ate stronger this time of year. The UVA rays penetrate deeper. I feel it's almost a public service for you & others who have an audience, to keep talking about these SPF formulas, to prevent the cancers as well.

@SincerelyMissAsh4 жыл бұрын
The Australian Gold has a very light tint. It doesn't give much colour pay off so it may be good for your fair skin. I have fair skin and it works great on me. Typically the higher the Zinc and Titanium the better but as long as you are applying a 1/2 teaspoon of SPF to your face you will get the full 4% of each and the full SPF 50 as well. This goes for any SPF.

I would say that the Australian Gold gives a little more colour pay off on the skin vs the Tinted Elta. The Elta is lighter and has a different consistency and feels a little nicer on the skin as it’s not as mattifying as the Australian Gold.

Dr Dray says that the powder sunscreens, like Colorscience, are good for re-application (touch ups) when you have a base of regular sunscreen. For example, I use the Australian Gold, usually two layers as my foundation. During the day, I blot any excess oil and then apply the Colorscience Spf 50 to boost my sun protection back up. Also, in regards to the spray sunscreen, according to her, it is effective but you need to spray into your hand and then apply it to your skin. Misting it on is not going to provide consistent coverage.

Which EltaMD sunscreen are you using? Is it the Clear? If so, that has Niacinamide in it which makes my makeup pill. I don't know a whole lot about La Roche Posay SPF as I personally don't love the sunscreen line. I have used them years ago but wasn't too excited about them. Zinc and Titanium dioxide are two specific types of minerals. Some sunscreens have both and some have just one or the other. I like to use SPF's that have both but that is my personal preference. Does this help?🤷🏼♀️

Can anyone explain to me what gives sunscreens their SPF levels? I thought the active ingredients, the titanium and zinc, are what gives it the SPF? So how is it products with super low levels of them can be super high SPF, but then there are sunscreens with over 20% zinc but they're lower SPF. Someone help, I'm confused!
@lucyg45325 жыл бұрын
Some companies lie. Or they add antioxidants and say it helps stop sun damage. Always go for sunscreens with higher zinc oxide levels. If it’s not at least in double digits it probably isn’t good. 20% and up is best but it usually leaves a white cast.
@e.a.49264 жыл бұрын
Dispersing agents, UV filter boosters, and even antioxidants can dramatically increase a sunscreen's SPF value, regardless of the concentration of zinc or titanium. That being said, I agree with the other commenter, the higher the zinc oxide the better. That's because high zinc oxide guarantees UVA protection. The SPF value only reflects UVB protection, and UVA protection is just as important, if not more important, than UVB protection. A zinc oxide concentration of around 20% usually provides very robust UVA protection.
