Agreed! Even if I could spend these amounts every now and then I'd have to use much less than the recommended amount to make the tube last longer. I think the Cervave tinted SPF30 is good. Sunscreen is expensive but at least the Cerave is cheaper than these ones.

La Roche Posay tinted mineral liquid (but only uses titanium dioxide), CeraVe tinted spf 30, and I love Physicians Formula cc or bb cream (tinted spf 30). If you want to double up for security, try Olay mineral moisturing sunscreen (I love it alone on days I am staying indoors) with the PF bb or cc cream or CeraVe on top. 😎

Quick update: I ended up getting the Australian Gold Botanical fair to light (I have very pale skin) and for the most part I really do like it as an affordable option. It feels really nice and mouse like, and I was even able to get my boyfriend to wear it daily too! But I will say that it does look still a little too dark and orange on my skin, especially if I need to reapply. It's not too bad though and I really like the matte look, it helps cover up my acne just a tad so it's not as noticeable. I'm considering trying out one of the other ones recommended here but not sure which yet.

Sunscreen is so expensive for how much you have to use everyday. If you are supposed to use 1/4 tsp on your face (not including if you need to reapply) and it’s the standard 3 oz bottle; that lasts only 2 1/2 months. Most of the sunscreens people on KZbin recommend are less than 3 oz. I’m a huge sunscreen fan and wear it every day but it is expensive and a luxury a lot of people cannot afford. It really should be more affordable.

Good day Dr Ellis. I have skin similar to yours(as you described). I love tinted sunscreen as I am also low maintenance. I have mature skin(60) and have used Elta Md broad spectrum 46 and SkinCeuticals physical fusion 50. I purchased today Supergoop mineral sheer screen 30 at the sales clerks suggestion that it is completely natural product. Is supergoop an appropriate product for mature skin(also 30?). How does it compare to SC and Elta MD?for mature skin. Thank you very much

Love my Australian Gold tinted sunscreen. My skin is on the lighter side, but definitely has some warm undertones and I am a bit more on the oily side, so this sunscreen is perfect for me! I used to avoid facial sunscreens because so many felt greasy, as though they were about to slide off of my face. Not anymore! Goes on so smooth and creamy, dries matte and does no pill up on my face. Love it ! 💛

I'm sadly returning La Roche Posay's tinted sunscreen today (even though i've been buying it forever:( It layers on perfectly, matches my skin tone and doesn't break me out. Unfortunately I just found out that unlike its original (not the tinted mineral version), it relies only on Titanium Dioxide, so there's no Zinc Oxide to provide the Broadband spectrum protection (so you're left unprotected from the UVA rays). I'm so disappointed that it's something I missed - Dr. Dray has a video about it! Especially for the price point - it is 1.7 oz compared to the other mineral tinted sunscreens that not only properly protect you but have antioxidants and include great active ingredients such as niacinamide.

Love this advise. I have similar skin concerns as you mentioned. I tend to stick mineral sunscreen because of my sensitive skin. A sunscreen I have been using lately is supergoop’ s Matte Screen. I adore the Australian Gold sunscreen as it is perfect primer for my combination skin. I am very fair but this sunscreen used as a primer for any of my make-up does not change the color of my complexion at all. I purchased once the Sisley tinted sunscreen paying 8 times what the Australian Gold BB cream costs. To my surprise the low price BB cream from Australian Gold was better than Sisley’s one.

I use the Australian Gold BB cream. I love it, but I'm concerned about the fact that it only has 4% ZO and 4% TD. That seems rather low for SPF 50 and makes me wonder if I'm getting adequate UVA protection. Typically in an all -mineral sunscreen, I usually don't see less than 15% total of active ingredients. What do you think, Dr. Sam?

So far, the one I've found that works best for me is a chemical one - PTR Water Drench SPF 45. I'm still on the hunt for a mineral. I'll try a couple of your suggestions. The Elta MD nor the Australian Gold worked for me...so drying. The Elta MD also smells terrible.

o thanks goodness someone else found the Australian Gold drying... I thought my face was acting up when I saw my face drastically dried up after 1 hour of applying Australian Gold... I saw many good review of this sunscreen and bought one for myself... unfortunately I didn't check out the youtuber's skin type before buying and forgot that i'm on the dry side :(

Bliss Block Star SPF 30 is amazing ! Not too matte not, too dewy, perfect tint, no white cast. Blends well through facial hair and beard. Only little downside is the smell of lavender oil. But other than that it’s been a game changer for me!

I have used most of these mentioned here and always end up going back to the Australian Gold Tinted. I have combo skin and the "fair to light" is the only one I feel really protects my skin under the HOT & HUMID Florida sun (Miami). The others tend to leave a greasy feel to my skin, and I have to reapply more often, and as you mentioned the AG does not transfer, which is awesome.

A little late on viewing this video. Skin: dry, sensitive, with rosacea (although currently well managed/controlled). My all time favorite tinted sunscreen is EltaMD UV Physical SPF41 for extra-sensitive and post-procedure. It is the perfect color match and feels so amazing on. It never stings and I don't burn with it. It works well under foundation as well, although I really like it alone. I have another new one that came in my BirchBox that I'm enjoying as the weather is getting cooler here in Wisconsin. It's by IPKN and it's the Moist & Firm BB SPF 45.

I have similar skin from your description and I purchased EltaMD UV Clear SPF 46 as it was highly recommended but it pills something terrible on me; with or without moisturizer and no way could I apply foundation with it. Do you have any experience with product pilling with your EltaMD product? I found with sample of la Roche-posay tinted mineral SPF50 no pilling even when foundation applied over it as long as I wait 10-15 minutes to ensure drying but by 8 hrs Skin from The corner of my mouth down toward chin is beginning to look dry.

Hi Dr. Ellis! Thanks for a great video 😊 I have two questions for you - another KZbinr I watch has questioned the UVA protection of Elta Md Uv clear (untinted I believe). What do you think about that? My second question/comment is about sunscreen stains! Sunscreen gets all over the collars of my shirts, my fiancé’s shirts…tinted or untinted, mineral or chemical, everything seems to leave a mark. Do you have any advice? Any sunscreens you use that don’t leave stains? Or advice for getting the stains out? Thank you so so much!

@@AG-kp4sh Try using savon de Marseille. It's a cheap French soap that is used to get out the toughest stains and can go straight into the waffling machine after soaking. I had ruined an outfit with paint and nothing would help except soaking it in this soap and using the bar to scrub a little. It removed all the paint! Also maybe try putting a little transparent powder over your sunscreen to stop the transfer? Just a couple of ideas. Hope they help! Cheers!

HELP!!! Im obsessed with Australian Gold tinted mineral, but my only issue is GETTING IT OFF. I have tried soooo many product combos and right now the ONLY thing that has been working is a triple cleanse. I use a cleansing balm, micellar water and then a gentle, oat cleanser. Id love to remove one of those steps (preferably the micellar water and cotton pads) from the equation. Im tired of having to rub my face with a cloth to remove this sunscreen. I JUST want to find a double cleanse combo that works (minus the rubbing with a cloth) because this is the ONLY sunscreen I can comfortably use and afford.

That’s so interesting because on my skin, (and I consider my skin fair to light ) the UV clear tinted is super orange and the UV elements is lighter! So crazy that it’s the opposite for you. In order to wear the UV clear tinted I have to mix it with a white sunscreen (I’ve been mixing it with la roche possay anthelios face) but I just heard you say not to mix sunscreens 😬 can you make a video talking about why?

I love tinted sunscreens, but I've never experienced. Putting on foundation or makeup to be that big of a deal. It takes like a minute. It's that long..... There's only one tenant sunscreen that actually matches my complexion.... So I usually use a sheer foundation and to me. It's not that big of a deal .

So glad I found you! Was looking initially for info on Tazarotene (as a possible alternative or switch-up to my .05 tretinoin) and this fab review popped up right afterwards... I am almost 60, and have been mostly focused on good/preventative skin care w actives: tretinoin, l-ascorbic/c serums, and glycolics, also adding hyaluronic acid and niacinamide (cerave PM+La Roche-Posay Tolerian Double Repair....the only major category I've neglected, I think, is peptides...) In any case, of COURSE I use sunscreen daily, mostly tinted (as I don't use foundation and enjoy the slight cosmetic enhancement) and usually 100% mineral; when I learned about the chemical concerns, I migrated almost entirely to all mineral blocks w titanium diox/zinc. ... I HAD been using Eltamd UV Physical SPF 41, pink n peachy, almost a good match for my fair, cool/neutral complexion, but then it got discontinued and I found... Colorescience (Original) 50 which has been my GO-TO for 3 years now -- though when I go running I don't like to splurge $$ and instead use Thinksport Everyday Face SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen - Safe, Natural Facial Sun Cream for All Skin Tones - Water Resistant UVA/UVB Sun Protection - Vegan - which feels SO good, and is a relatively good match, though might also work for slightly darker... It has some good stuff in there, too. In any case, it was so reassuring to see that YOU TOO, like COLORESCIENCE and recommend it. I love the feeling, the dewy glow, the good ingredients, all of it... When I saw that FLEX had launched, I FREAKED OUT, worried that the classic would be discontinued. I even called Colorescience (or chatted, I forget) and they said they had no plans to do so. Still, your feedback on that NEW-ish product has enticed me to maybe try it, and of course, I'd go with the lightest... SO MANY of these cast an orange hue, so I'd be curious how the flex adapts to my skin tone... I am also curious about the hybrid NEOVA... 10 years ago, I was GOO GOO for their Ti-Silc which was AH MAZING, too... it had peachy-pinkish tone, and was so elegant, so dewy, people ALWAYS commented on how healthy and beautiful my skin was...So, I'm curious if this Neova Silc Sheer 2.0 is the rightful inheritor of what HAD been my holy grail. Even so, the cost is somewhat prohibitive, and it's a hybrid...But as you say, it may be JUST that tweak that makes it so elegant. The classic Colorescience container is SO deceptive -- it keeps giving and giving, lol, and just when you think it's empty....nope, just be patient, turn it upside down for a few secs, and voilà - always a touch more. Anyway, I wonder if you have NEW or different additions to you FANTASTIC roundup here, as we are now 2 years later.... But, better late than never, as they say: I FOUND YOU now, and will do some catching up on your videos...As a 'mature' woman (God, there has to be a better term) who clearly cares for her skin and staving off effects of aging, I do scour quite a bit here on KZbin.... I've JUST discovered the possibility of Laura Geller baked balance n brighten, and other items in her line, to play just a little with a hint of makeup. We shall see... For now, I love using a tinted moisturizer, doubling as a subtle foundation, along with mascara, lips, occasional blush. THANKS AGAIN for sharing your results and recommendations; such a great review on the most important element of skincare, IMHO; SUNSCREEN. I've subscribed, of course, and look forward to CATCHING UP on all your reviews, and bringing myself UP TO DATE....😊🙏😊 You are such a pleasure to learn from, and so I've ALSO turned on the ringy dingy notifications thingamajiggy, too, in Thanks again.
