I and a few people are having issues with this technique with a letter disappearing after applying the expand command, I solved the issue by trying different fonts and also rebooting my iMac and Illustrator CS5.5 and doing that seems to work for me, as it has been commented, a bug maybe the cause?

@@nobudesign It only seems intermittent on outlined fonts, no issues on creating shapes. Luckily I have the DNA of the perseverance gene. 👍🏼 Still a good effect though. Thanks for uploading. 👍🏼

I ungroup the Text, then use 'select similar object' to select the object with the same fill color

1:13 can't get the gradient to turn into bands. Instead one of the letters dissapears lol. Does anyone have the same issue?

@@TRUNKS298that's kinda bug, try keep gradient slider inside the character and expand from smallest number like 3 or 5 or restart your Illustrator

i can't get it to work, the letter just disappears. i tried on a new document, diferent font, reseting my pc, changing the number of steps, etc.....does anyone know how to fix it?
