Given that temperatures seem to be getting higher, especially during summer, I figured I'd get me seven of these to put in my new-to-be-built pc. Along with the three fans of my CPU cooler ( NZXT Kraken Z73), I wonder if my pc will take off :P

Taking off not really, but the noise will make you think you are on board a 747.

It's not so much the ability to run under water that attracts me, but the 3000 RPM and insane airflow values. It also costs only $30, which isn't bad for the most powerful 120mm fan.

I don't think you will run this fan at maximum RPM all the time, but having the option is nice. Plus, these fans are made to last a long time which is nice.

@@TechLegend-com Trust me I will be, because I am a type of the idiot who crams 5800X3D into a case that can only support 80mm tall coolers, so I have to use AXP-100 cooler to cool that beast of a CPU.
@harryshuman9637
@harryshuman9637 Жыл бұрын
@@TechLegend-com So I just added this cooler to my rig, and the performance barely changed. The Cinebench R23 score increased by like 300 and the CPU is still throttling. Before this fan I used low profile one by Arctic Cooling. So basically nothing changed, but whenever I'm using my system my computer sounds like a vacuum.

@@TechLegend-com Yep. I think my cooler just doesn't have enough thermal capacity and surface area. It reaches 90 degrees in seconds and obviously the powerful fan doesn't do much. Will have to get AXP-200 instead.

HI. I bought a 24V Noctua PC fan, but it only spins at 1600 RPM. Even when I plug it into the motherboard, it doesn't reach 3000 RPM, only 1600 RPM. I don't understand why. Do I need to buy an adapter or something similar for this? I would like it to work properly. Thanks for your help
@TechLegend-com

Unless the fan has a preinstalled low noise adapter, you have a defective unit.
@Hoozpoppin

You cant run a 24v fan in a traditional PC where the motherboard runs fans at 12v. The max you'll get 12v is 1500rpmish.
@TechLegend-com

@@Hoozpoppin That is correct, I forgot about that. I used the fans powered straight from a fan controller that supplied 24v. I hope that other person sees your comment!

Perhaps consider creating a custom fan control profile in your motherboard's BIOS (there are numerous software applications capable of doing this from inside Windows as well, but they can be a bit flakey or even veer towards bloatware)? Obviously I am not familiar with your particular motherboard, but its a fairly common feature these days. A custom fan profile will allow you to vary the fan's rpm (and thus noise) based on your CPU temperature. edited for spelling.
@TechLegend-com
@TechLegend-com 2 жыл бұрын
@@carlhudson1613 I would recommend you and everyone else to only use this fans through a fan hub or fan controller. These fans are using 24v and having multiple fans connected to your motherboard can cause issues. Please take this into consideration.

@@TechLegend-com I originally replied with an edited link to Notua's website that I guess wasn't sufficiently edited to prevent KZbin's bots from automatically scrubbing. Regardless, Noctua's published specs for these fans indicate they are for 12v operation and draw up to a third of an amp each (3.6 watts max per fan). The standard single 4pin fan headers on my motherboard are rated for up to 1 amp. Theoretically I could run up to three of them off of a single header. Noctua does offer a 24v version of this fan, but it has a slightly different part number and tops out at 2000rpm. Please do correct me if I have misunderstood anything being presented by Noctua. I thank you for your reply and for your enjoyable and informative content. edited syntax in first sentence

@@carlhudson1613 Sorry for the late reply. It's not a mistake, it all depends on the particular fan model. However, I want to play safe and say that all Industrial grade fans should be used with a bit of common sense, as they are high power models.
