Itzhak's performance as 'entertainer/artist/musician' is complete. "Sightread, schmightread' --it's about, 'practice, practice, practice.' But when you see that blissful smile, you know he has played this piece as thousand times. He disarmed their expectation with humor (schtick).He opened them up so they could be moved from laughter to tears. That is artistry at its highest level -to be aware that the instrument you play is made from the emotions you trigger in the audience.
@jansnauwaert17854 жыл бұрын
That is not artistry, it is just entertainment. Nevertheless, he sure can play the violin. Though there are others whom I prefer.

OMGoodness! This just popped up on my screen as I logged onto KZbin. I watched this performance live from the White House....1982!! This is some blast from the past; I tell you! 😳I set up my VCR (which does not exits anymore), and recorded it. I threw away the VHS tape of it during the summer of 2022 when I decided to get rid of all the VHS tapes. Ken Noda played Chopin's Ballade No.1 in G minor. One of my favorite pieces by Chopin.

This piece is actually from an opera, and the piece in the opera is called Danse espagnole. This piece was composed by Manuel de Falla. In this opera, there is a LOT of instrumental, almost as much as the singing. Especially the Act 2 music published as Interlude and Dance, which is popular at concerts of Spanish music, Fritz Kreisler transcribed this instrumental in 1926 for violin and piano the dance from this pairing under the title “Danse Espagnole”. I like this piece because in the piece, I like the melody. This person is also a very good player because he looks like he is playing it very easily.
