You can use a servo motor to remove the timing step of your needle!

True, the only reason I did not use a servo is to avoid the noise it makes when the gears rotate

It's something I created for controlling and monitoring all my home automation projects. I have provided the code for the update temperature and update heartbeat with the project. Rest I left for the user to create their own front end

There is a portforwarding set in my home router which enables me to access the app hosted in my home from anywhere in the world.
