I NEVER comment on KZbin. But i need to say this. His situation was a teachable moment that was carried out poorly via “cancellation”. He wasn’t perfect…JUST like everyone. It was an opportunity for him to acknowledge, reflect and learn, instead of being attacked and dragged. I get it. Massive respect for this man. The way he pushed boundaries in the industry and opened doors for others. His hard work ethic. The way he speaks so frankly about things and the fact that he's survived through this disgusting attempt at sabotaging his life and career by the media. So happy he's come through it all and he's come back strong. This could have been too much for some and led them to take their lives. Nothing is for nothing and all that hard work you've put in over the last 20 years Noel, and the fact that you've managed to endure this means your biggest blessings are yet to come. I'm writing this comment 2 months after this interview and have only just found out today about Noel being cancelled etc.. (in June 2023). I don't own a TV, and don't read newspapers and barely use social media exactly because of the lies dem ah tell. This whole thing is a prime example. I can't fathom how anyone could be so easily accused, destroying their career and livelihood, not to mention the trauma they suffered with their family, and NOT one cop interviewed them, NOT one charge was laid against them and they were NOT arrested for anything. But yet, a newspaper can run with such a story and take no consequence for their actions of printing such rubbish. Where's their source for printing such crap. These topics are extremely intricate and complex because multiple factors come in to play. One very attractive guy could say something to a woman and a woman might consider it flirting because she is interested whilst another person she doesn’t find attractive could say the wxact same thing in the exact same way and tone and she could consider that as harassment based on feelings and her lack of interest which to me seems abit of a flawed thing. There needs to be very clear things set in place that defines clearly what is point blank wrong regardless of the context.

Noel Clarke granted an interview to our tiny little youth magazine back in the days. One of our first "celebrity" interviews. We had young people go down and interview him, and do a photo shoot with him in Ladbroke Grove. Everyone involved described him as a great guy, a good combination of chill and inspiring. He had a really inspirational message for our readers, and even gave us a bunch of Kidulthood merch to give away to them. We got no weird reports at all. It's sad to see certain media try to bully him like that, but they will never take away his legacy. They will just steal him away from whoever chooses to believe their BS. He's a gem.

Great interview again Zeze, respect for trying to be objective. I reserved judgement on Bro, and him talking about how quiet he's been for so long reminded me why, but I appreciate him talking now. Can't judge what I don't know, but I hope the truth prevails because his career is an inspiration, Society does have to define harassment better and come up with processes because growing up for guys from a certain era before socials you had to take a risk and approach women in person, yo my size was literally the gamble as he shown in the movie. He has no paperwork on him so that speaks volumes, it does feel like character assassination of someone who admits he doesn't really warm to people anyway. I got into writing mostly because of Kidulthood, He was the first UK guy I saw and thought yeah, he has the pattern, I been trying to follow that for years with limited success and knowing my content could be seen as "too black" but I don't care coz Noel did it, I may never be as succesful as him but I share that view about representation and telling our own stories. I remember bumping into him for a second when Grenfell burned down and I went to help, I hailed him up and he acknowledged me n his demeanour was cool iand brotherly even though he didn't smile, gnoring the fact he was there with the people after such a tragic event. I'm refreshed to hear man out. What happens next we'll see. If his conscience is truly clear in himself I wish him a great comeback.

I don’t believe not disbelieve, but also, being a perv, being manipulative, inappropriate, or generally just scummy isn’t a crime. So lots of those allegations may not look good on paper, but that doesn’t mean because he can’t be convicted of any of the above doesn’t give people a free pass because they think there’s a loophole to be an asshole.

The free pass belongs to those 20 women that made false allegations about him. EVERYONE knows you go to HR if it is workplace bullying, if its not dealt with you take it to employment tribunal, police etc. NONE of those women went to the Police not ONE. They went to a newspaper, you fail with comments on being manipulative, inappropriate or being scummy. Those women went to the newspaper not the police because they knew they failed to report it to the police, they knew going in the newspaper would damage him. There is ZERO loophole. Those women should be sued.

I cannot comment on the veracity of the allegations that were levied against him but he deserves to be heard out. Some of the more sinister allegations are that he secretly filmed naked auditions of actresses; he offered roles in his films in exchange for sexual favours and was inappropriate/encouraged indecent behaviour on set. I think taking responsibility for any wrong he did is the perfect starting place. I consider what he says about only being part of inappropriate conversations as him only admitting to the least of what actually transpired. Regardless, he deserves to be heard out.

Met Noel in Terminal 5 once, stopped and took a picture and chatted about where he was flying to for a few mins. Had all the time in the world for a fan, doesnt give himself enough credit in regards to warmth etc.

I grew up in the same area as Noel and you HAD to have that same standoffish mindset to survive and thrive. When you grow up and leave those environments, you need to open up and realize that the NEW environment requires a different you - at least to your peers. But hats off to him, because that mindset served him to knock down doors and get better deals at the negotiating table. But it's not always required or serving to be that way, it's about understanding when to code switch.

100%...some people just can't evolve or adapt to different environments. What is acceptable and the norm in one environment isn't necessarily appreciated in another. Adaptability is one of the best character traits that you can teach your kids. It will serve them well throughout their journey in life.
