I feel like the brothers public squabbles’ have changed the both of them for the worst…at least in terms of their public personas. Every interview they do now has the obvious elephant in the room of whether the other brother could/should be brought up, and so they both feel the need to keep a tough exterior in case they have to dismiss the other one. Just came from watching the late late tribute to gay Byrne where they told a story about Noel. After the Omagh bombing they had a 15 year old girl who was a pianist in the crowd who had been blinded in the bombing. Noel gave gay Byrne a signed copy of she’s electric to give to her (she was an oasis fan) on the condition that she never give up music. Top bloke.

The Late Late Show with Gay Byrne was amazing, guests were encouraged to talk and even debate with each other. The crowd would get involved too, some historic episodes where politicians and bishops were grilled by audience members. Truly a unique show which will never be seen again.
