Yes, this album is VERY different from anything theyve done. Some hate it, some love it. Tho imo either way its still the most interesting release of the year Also m shadows changed his whole technique (cuz the previous one was apparently causing him lots of throat issues), so maybe thats why his vocals feel a little softer. Tho he sounds a little too sore on this one lol. His sounded at his best on We Love You, personally... and yeah, they did produce it A LOT less than 99% of their albums, and 100% fits the more "0 fucks given" style of this album However theyve already done some very weird stuff before, especially on City of Evil

As much as I love this song, and a7x's more experimental and proggy side, this probably wasn't the best track to try and get a vibe for the band. They have much better music, even in this style. The Stage is an absolute banger of an album, if you want more stuff like this. Otherwise check out literally any of their other albums as well, they don't disappoint.

Idk if you know this .. but M. Shadows (lead singer) had vocal surgery a few years ago ... and he couldnt talk or sing for a while ... in an interview he said he will not be doing his crazy screaming anymore ...atleast not for a while ... so this is why he is voice and vocals sound different.. He is doing a lower pitch to avoid any issues with his vocal strings .

I love how in-depth you got with your commentary! According to their podcast, the guys are really locked in to making music as a unit. It's less about how crazy they can get, and more about how much they can push the limits. They're borrowing a lot from other genres and artists that they've been listening to and putting their own spin on it. I understand why people don't like it, but man, I feel like they're at the peak of their own musicianship right now. I think this will end up being a monumental music in rock music when we look back at it decades from now.
