Noida Pride metro station breaks new ground, big step to integrate LGBTQ community

The Noida Metro Rail Corporation in October decided to dedicate Noida sector-50 metro station to the transgender community by employing six people from the community. This move was inspired by the Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2019, passed by the Centre for the protection for the rights of transgender people, and Noida sector-50 metro station was renamed the ‘Pride station’. ThePrint’s Urjita Bhardwaj and Suraj Singh Bisht spoke to some employees to learn more about their new job experience and how this platform helping them lead a dignified life.

Only shashi tharoor once brought up lgbt rights in parliament and that’s about it. It was 10 fucking years of struggle that made it possible, neither bjp nor congress deserve any credit for it. So don’t say “bjp made it legal”

So yes, many Indian Muslims are progressive, but the fact that all Muslim countries today have criminalized homosexuality and they all, even Indonesia, actively oppose LGBT rights at the UN means that that Islam is predominantly against LGBT rights in theory and practice. Hinduism could be argued to be against LGBT only in practice today for various reasons, but not in theory.
