Yeah, CoolSoft lags on this, but it doesn't lag so bad, Microsoft's Wavetable Synth lags so much on noise challenges and legit runs!!!! But the lag's not caused because the synth was CoolSoft, MrDave1502 didn't have enough time to give the computer enough ram! So he ended up with 1gb of ram.

the pagefile is a hidden file on your computer that is only active when one runs out of RAM. The computer continues to store whatever it would store in RAM in that file on the hard drive (called the paging file, or virtual memory). Since hard drives (and even SSDs) are way slower than RAM, the computer would see a massive slowdown due to it. In this case, the computer stored 3 and a half gigabytes of what was supposed to go into RAM, and PFA would wait until a segment is loaded before it could play it. That is why throughout the video, the thing would freeze and then play the rest of the notes all of a sudden.

@@GingerFilms892 the cpu wasn't the issue though. The whole problem was that i ran this on 1gb of ram, and the midi needs at least 4gb to fit entirely in ram, so most of it was on the pagefile of a really slow hard drive, so that's why it lagged.

the pc loads notes into memory, plays them really quickly to catch up with the timer (which is global) renders a frame. The midi has 10 million notes, and the process was slowed down due to low amounts of memory and a slow hard drive. However, the cpu is so fast for this task that it plays these notes in a split second, to the point that the synth renders it as one large smash.
