Great video. In the old days, I would use a Boss 7-band EQ with the mids cranked on my 100w Super Lead, with a Tube Screamer when I need extra bite. It's still my go-to.

I just tried this yesterday with a bunch of pedals! the Diezel V4 pedal was my favorite. I tried it with my 2204, my 76’ plexi, and my Friedman plex. Pretty freakin awesome! I also tried the PAL800, the Eighty7 Deluxe, and the golden brownie. The golden brownie was a close second! Awesome little pedal and tiny!

Hi, thanks for your kind comment. I use 2 Universal Audio X8P interfaces with my system, as well as an Audient Evo SP8 Mic Preamp. I use the two UAD interfaces because I have four 4x12 cabs in my live room, each one has 4 mics on it at all times so I can switch between them at will. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqOoiHWPg5aGl9U In this day and age, I don't think there are any interfaces that sound bad - that said, higher end interfaces do tend to sound better. Some people hate UA interfaces, some like them. I like them. They certainly don't do anything negative to my sound.... Thank you for watching!

Great demo vid, brother! Very informative. Great playing, too! \m/ \m/ From where I'm sitting, the Wampler sounded the best. They all sounded great. No question. But, the Wampler was the most articulate, tight, dynamic, warm and full. The highs didn't rip my head off and the lows were right where they should be: present and punchy, but not overbearing. The mids were perfect, which is pure money for a guitar player. It didn't sound like there was a blanket over the cabinet, either. IMO, the Guv'nor was a close second. But, that Wampler was the blue ribbon winner, IMO. Cheers!

Nice comparo. Useful. I really liked that Tumnus/Tube Screamer Mini combo. That was right up my alley. The BE-OD was awesome, too. Kinda from left field: Something your viewer might want to consider besides drive pedals (nothing wring with drive pedals, though, of course) is an attenuator. Since the SV20 is based (at least somewhat) on the old Plexi circuit, which is infamous for outputting way more than its rated wattage, he should get one that's about twice the advertised power of the amp, like a 40- or 50-watt attenuator. That way he can get all the crunchy goodness out of the amp itself without pissing off the neighbors too much. I used to use an attenuator to pull the volume on my Laney AOR 100 half-stack down to apartment-dwelling volume for practicing. The amp's sweet spot was from 4 on up on the master volume and I could play it with the attenuator quietening it down to about TV volume and still sound great, whereas without the attenuator, even on 2 the amp's master volume would rattle all my windows. Then add overdrive to taste to get the amount of grind desired. This tactic somewhat depends on the speakers used, however. That same attenuator, between my Marshall 1959 reissue head and its cabinet lost some grind due to the loss of high-volume speaker breakup. I think the higher-wattage speakers in the Laney cab were less prone to high-volume breakup, so the attenuator was a better solution there. I doubt that a nominally 20-watt amp is doing a lot of speaker-distorting, though, so the attenuator trick should work for your viewer.

Absolutely KILLER STUFF! I like to use my plexitone pedal in front of a marshall origin 20; plexitone set to lower gain, little bit of a flubby sound (as you would have with a plexi) and then boosted and tightened with SD-1, BB preamp or tubescreamer style pedal in front of the plexitone to really make it go into nice modded high gain plexi style sounds. Also works well with a 1987x but if you're on a budget and want that style of sound on a low volume - you definitely can do that

my recommendation is get an attenuator. you can crank it however you want and maintain whatever volume you want. the only thing you lose is pushing the speaker.

Nice exotic scale at 5.20. Top tones. I use a vintage MXR (not Dunlop) Commande preamp on top of the full Marshall gain. So much circuitry in the Commande stuff.

Hi!! In my opinion, the best pedal in front of my plexi is a transparent booster ( Klon, Tumnus…) Because it preserves the Eq of my amp, add one Sd1 and you don’t need anything. else..(and I play in a trash metal ban) Another interesting option is The Range Master (or another treble booster ) this pedal was also used by Judas Priest in the late 1970s years. The trick here is to use the normal Channel .. or the bright channel with the treble close to zero. The Guv Nord and the JHS ( basically are the same pedal .. although the Marshal is more open) work better in a fender clean amp. Great video man!👏👏

I have a Funny Little Boxes 1991 pedal which has two gain stages. First is a tube screamer type circuit, then followed by a drive circuit that is based on the tones of a driven JCM800. Also has bass/mid/treb controls and volume. Very flexible and sounds great to do just what you want. I use it with my Marshall Origin 20.

Tumnus was very cool. Then angry Charlie was too angry getting a little muddy I had the pedal and to me it didn’t sound like a jcm800. The guv is the same as the AC and didn’t expect to like the Friedman, actually didn’t liked it until the ts was engaged and then I was like damn that sounds amazing 😻

Killer tones! I like to run a Carl Martin PlexiTone (the big 3-button) into my Marshall Vintage/Modern setup clean on the low gain setting. The VM is essentially a modded JTM45/Plexi, so with the pedal, I can get 2 gain channels plus boost out of what’s essentially a single-channel amp. 🤘🤘

Nice video thanks! I use a TS very low gain , in front of a Marshall jcm with gain at 2 o'clock. Funny enough I use the BE OD with the marshall clean channel in combination with the TS. Now that is a monster I like, the resonance, sustain and harmonics are like no rig I've ever had and no modeler can do it with out that distant digital fizz in the background. They're close but no cigar yet imo.
