Back in 2012 I used to listen to this song everyday. Fast forward to 3 days ago, I came across a song from the show "Succession" that played in it's season 4 end credits. It made me remember this song. I spent 3 days trying to find it, after not being able to jog my memory I dug through what seemed like a time capsule and found my old iPod Nano. But it's not Dubstep, it's Drum'n'Bass. They may have some similarities between Dubstep and D'n'B but they are very different overall, a bit like Hard rock and Death metal, or like old school Rap and Trap. (I just point that out because I know some D'n'B fans are getting upset to hear about dubstep on D'n'B videos)

Nicolas Martin Noisia has it listed as Dubstep, so I'm going off of that. As well has the alternating double-spaced kick and snare signature of Dubstep. I would also say the emphasis on having a rise and a drop, but DnB has that as well. The key I look for is the percussive patterns. For instance, a lot of people think Skrillex is primarily Dubstep. He does Dubstep, but he mostly does Electro. Electro is 4-beat, Dubstep is 2-beat, DnB is often 8 or 16-beat. The harmonic-rich bass instruments and sidechained kicks, aren't exclusive to any of these. Though I would argue that much of the newer stuff was probably pioneered in DnB. But for instance, Split the Atom and Alpha Centauri are technically Electro. Sunhammer, Diplodocus and Could This Be are undoubtedly DnB. Tommy's Theme would be Dubstep. Though I usually say it's like a DnB style Dubstep.

I don't mean to antagonize, but I did just look up the definition "The genre is characterized by fast breakbeats (typically between 150-180 beats per minute)" Dubstep was started by London garage musicians trying to incorporate DnB sound with 2-step garage rhythms. The 2-step rhythm is what takes DnB's more flighty, fast pace and gives it a slower, more massive sound.

At first it looks like there are two sides here, but there are really 3. There is the system (riot cops), the rebels or anarchist, and then there is the kid in the beginning and end. To me, the kid represents those that don't care about sides and just want to live. We get so caught up in one side or the other that we forget to live.

I think there is one more factipm. At the last quarter of the song are also the "rich" people partying around while the world is going to be teared apart by the rebels and the police. Tell I'm right or i have too much imagination :D

It's up for interpretation, but I feel like that scene is more about the brief sense of freedom rebels witness or imagine before they are beaten back down by the system. Why would the strangely dressed resistance suddenly become the rich ? The poor and the oppressed are the ones who suffer under the government the most, so having them be rich would clash with the overall message here. That , or the anarchists realize their freedom is short and inevitably the man will ruin their fun. The scene where the rebel women is touching the riot officer's helmet reminds me of this acceptance of struggle.

In reply to your original comment, I agree with your idea that there are three sides here. I just want to point out that him being a kid is also pretty significant. Kids represent the next generation, the future. With that said, I feel like both sides, the rebels and the enforcers, are trying to create their idea of "a better world for the next generation," since the next generation are the ones who will be running the world. (Note the fact that the kid is bouncing a ball that has the appearance of the world.) The enforcers want a world of order and the rebels want one of freedom. (Note that their cloths can symbolize a sort of freedom of expression, if you will. As opposed to the enforcers who lack any kind of "expression" due to the uniform and cloudy face guard.) But like you said, the kid also does symbolize the people who don't want to get caught up in either side. But that doesn't change the fact the both sides are fighting to create a world that they believe is more just for those who cannot/choose not to fight and for future generations.

Everything about this video is brilliant. I love the camera work, the costumes are awesome, and the "epic" painting-like scenes, the use of symmetry, combined with the music itself really tickles my neurons in pleasant fashion. I'm sad, because I don't believe I will ever feel the same way again, but maybe that's for the best. Just because it's over, doesn't mean it was meaningless. It made an impression on me, and while I can never re-live the first time I experienced this, I look forward to finding the next thing that will blow me away. Then, I will think back to this, and all the other special moments in my life, and savor it for what it is. A unique experience.
