As a user of the Nokia 6300 4G, here are my thoughts: - I used this phone for around 2 months now, as some kind of "digital detox" ;) I was waaaay too much on KZbin and TikTok, and this phone helped me reducing my hours on those platforms immensely, so that's good. :D - the build is surprisingly lightweight and plastic-y. I wouldn't say exactly cheap tho, and you definitly get used to it after some time. (the phone also makes some kind of creak-sounds when you try to bend it, which only adds to that plastic-y feel ._. ) The keypad is great tho (maybe a bit small) and the Navigation-keys are responsive. What i don't like is the position of the power-button and the absence of volume-keys. Idk, but those would be a real quality-of-life-improvement in the long-term. (you always have to navigate to the homescreen just to adjust the volume or screen-brightness and then go back to the app you were on...) - the screen is bad. I have nothing else to say than that.😂 Comming from an 1080p Smartphone-Screen, it was DEFINITLY a BIG downgrade. The viweing-angles are, well… nonexistand. But you definitly get used to it after a week or so, and the colours are actually quite nice and accurate. :) But this phone would benefit from a better screen SO MUCH. - The camera isn't great, but that's to be expected. - I can only recommend to disable LTE/4G in the settings. Like for real. The phone sometimes just randomly disconnects from the Network and does not re-connect before rebooting. This does not happen on 3G/2G, and because the phone doesn't need that much data anyways, it's not that big of an issue. :) (however, there is also a bug on 2G/3G where, when you were connected to WiFi and then switch over to Mobile data, it doesn't automatically use mobile data, you have to enable flight mode, wait until it's disconnected from the network, and then disable it again. It's kinda weird, but then again, you get used to it!! ;) ) - The phone is terrible at remembering WiFi-Networks. It sometimes does, it sometimes doesn't. It has a mind of it's own in a way. :D - The intire OS lags constantly and never runs smooth. It lags when you open the app drawer. It lags when you start an app. It lags when you use the app. It lags when you close the app. I don't think that it is about bad optimaziation, more that of KaiOS's general performance (given on what other people on other devices say). You learn to deal with it, but it is always unpleasant when it accurs (which means everytime when you use the device in any Scenario besides checking the time ;-;). - The battery life isn't what i expected from a feature phone. It lasts around one day of intense usage (about 6h of screen-on time) and 3 days of 'moderate' usage (mixed WiFi-cellular usage ; listening to music ; texting/calling ; playing snake ;) ; checking NokiaMob ; etc.). I did not want to sound too negative in my Round-up tho: I kinda like this device, even with it's quirks and blemishes. It's neither the snappiest (or even snappy at all) nor is it the most 'premium', but it is reliable and helps you to refocus on your life and maybe spend less wasted time on your phone. I also kind of like the design, it is simple but not boring-simple. I do think that the phone is a bit lenghty tho. And the screen is ridicolously small for the size of the phone. The design of the phone really shines when it's looked at from an angle: Then it doesnt seem als 'long' and you can't see the edges of the screen. It's all in all a cute phone (and the Cyan Colour looks soo cool :3).

I have used this daily since february now and only recently am i starting to really get used to it and actually love it. I finally have it the way i want it now as i managed to delete a lot of the bloatware like pre installed games and widgets. Ive finally got used to turn based navigation on google maps, its actually quite easy and not at all as confusuing as i thought ... i just needed to adjust the way i use it. I have deleted my facebook account and opted to use whatsapp to stay in touch with people. whatsapp is a pleasure to use on it, and i managed to get my icloud emails via the email app which is handy. i have all notifications turned off for text messages and whatsapp, and only check my messages when i want to. calls still come in normally tho ofcourse. pretty much my only critisim left at this point is that often when you close an app like google and reopen it then it dosn't save the tab or anything you had open, even if it was closed for like a second say if you needed to check something on another app. honestly yeah this is frustrating but hey if its frustrating to use then youll use it less aye. thats how i looked at it :D

I've gotten one after watching your video and doing more research. I struggled for the first 2 days having come from a smartphone, but its now been a month and I love this phone! Here is why it's working for me: 1. Its super minimalist yet practical I really love how this is an essentialist's phone. There is nothing on it that you do not need. I've went a step further and made sure im not connected to any Google services (so i dont get KZbin or G search recommendations - highly addictive and no good!). The keypad forces you to slow down which helps you write shorter, more to the point messages. The limited Google maps feature encourages you to pay more attention to road signs (and it's helped me navigate roads better). 2. It's a conversation starter I love taking this phone out. When people ask me about it, it allows me to tell them about how this is helping me gain control of my phone, not the other way around. Even when they dont ask me, I make sure to bring up the topic so they know XD 3. It's a reminder to stay calm This one is huge for me. Unlike how having a smartphone in sight is already a distraction - notifications, anxiety, etc - having this nokia in sight is a constant reminder that ... there's nothing on it! It brings an instant feeling of peace and makes you focus more on the task (or break) at hand. 4. It is effective It makes calls, and sends messages. 5. It helped me connect more with people Due to the typing being laborsome, it encourages me to have more phone calls, and send more voice notes on whatsapp, or even arrange to meet them in person. All which helps me connect with others better than texting. I recommend this phone. I may "upgrade" to the 2720 flip as i have large hands and those buttons seem a bit bigger, but im a happy nokia revert :)

I write a fair amount, and when its time for that, I use a laptop - I've got to have a keyboard. So I use a phone as a phone these days (shocking, no?), The 6300 [unlike most smart phones] slips in the pocket comfortably and is not a bother. That in mind, the ability to use wifi or hot spot [the latter being problematic to 3g design], this phone meets my needs perfectly. The backlit keys are a nice touch too. Delete the fakebook app [your information is theirs], and off you go... The only con is perhaps a bit nit picky: the unit converter app needs expansion. Torque would be a good addition. The old N900 [Maemo system] was feature rich at release by comparison, but telco's have pushed 3g off the map in the US. I think T-mobile officially buries it on July 1st, and other carriers are already gone. When Nokia uses Linux, good things happen - the 6300 is holding up well for me..

3 quick questions: How do you program the multi-fuction key? And what are the possible actions it can be programmed to do? There is nothing in the User Guide about this. is there an option for any-key answer? I don't have time at the moment but I do intend to post my detailed feelings about this phone as a separate comment. For now I'll just say: my 82 year old mother likes it but I found it to be a nightmare to set up for her and find it to have a very cheap build quality. I find it hard to imagine using this phone unless I wanted to make and receive phone calls and do nothing else. That would make the target demographic seniors but in my opinion there is no way an elderly person could set up this phone on their own. But my mom saw this phone and it reminded her of her beloved Nokia 2126 and 2285 phones and so we'll see what her experience is in the coming weeks of using it. I don't mean this to be a rant against Nokia feature phones, it's just my experience with setting up the 6300 4G. In its favor I can say that if KaiOS were ditched and the build quality improved my assessment of this phone would be much more positive. I just discovered your review of the N9 and if I'd known about it at the time I would have jumped to buy it immediately based on your review.

I actually like this phones design I think it looks clean and neat. But... I wished they hadn't put Kai OS on it imo of Kai it's slow, laggy and a battery burner! Also I believe they have removed a bunch of stuff on the new version of the OS which is not applicable to this device as I don't think it will get an upgrade. Pitty I would of got one if it wasn't for the Kai OS. I would like HMD to bring a premium feature phone to the market with a good camera, battery and functions of a smartphone minus the touchscreen I would definitely jump back on the older keypad style as I prefer it.

I still cannot understand how Nokia doesn't want to add a track pad like on their decade old devices. Trying to browse with this thing would be such goddamned pain in the bum. And the small, low quality display won't help with the eyes too. The price asks for too much for so little. But, then again, this is kind of like the iPhone, but without what the quality of the iPhones situation. I'm seriously considering to buy a KaiOS device, but seeing this makes them so hard to buy. I could order a $30 iPhone 5s and use it for the same purpose. Only problem is...battery life, which is why I'm in a dilemma. I literally bought a Nokia E72 online and found out that...well. It does actually do a service, but the browsing is lacking for me. Especially when I'm trying to do some quick research where most websites are far beyond what the device supports. Hence why I'm considering buying this one. But, based on what the guy above said... That's a shitty experience. How the heck does a phone from 2009 manage to be far more optimized with a single core processor, 256mb of ROM and 128mbs of RAM. The E72 runs smooth as hell for what it is. And this modern KaiOS devices can't even run properly with the far more powerful specs that it has and over a decade gap of software improvements between the two. I am utterly disappointed. I just want a good feature phone that I can rely on. UGH!!!!! That being said... I think I'd rather buy the S30+ series devices.

Do these phones allow use of Messenger? As much as I don’t want to use Facebook itself, many of my friends use messenger instead of text or WhatsApp so this function would be useful …

Thank you for the review. I plan on buying the T10 and this: the former will cover my Android needs and the latter for my daily communication needs. There's a lot to say for going minimalist, and I like how this phone tries to go for it. Before anyone tells me how terrible the current HMD-Nokia phones are: my first HMD-Nokia unit was the Nokia 1, and I loved it despite what everybody was telling me. I know what I want from a phone. :)

Out of interest I know this won't allow you to install the uber app. But does it work with booking an uber using the web browser? I know it's possible on some dumbphones but wanted to know if it's possible on this device? Thanks.

Does anyone know what the the options for system language? Back in day, Nokia offered a huge list of languages to select from. I'm wondering, if it's the same, or is a shorter list? I tried to searched for it, but I couldn't find the full list of language options. Thanks!

I wanted a feature phone that I could use to briefly access the internet during occasional power outages so I bought the Nokia 225 4g because it had a browser. I like the phone but the browser is completely useless with most (if not all) modern websites. Would this browser work any better using a non wifi signal?
@AbdullaZaki2 жыл бұрын
It would work a bit better than the 225 4G I think

It's a mixed bag. Some work better than on Nokia 225 4G and some worse. There are no better web browsers on KaiOS Store too.

These feature phones are perfect for young kids without having to fork out cash for a full on smart phone…Only problem is other kids might make fun of them for using these…..
@thomashuller80992 жыл бұрын
That would not only be something for children, I am considering buying it. It has something that magically attracts me, WhatsApp works on it, you can make phone calls, I don't need Google Maps and more. Definitely a nice phone.

@@thomashuller8099 And no one will bother trying to rob you! Another plus! You can walk around and use it without having to worry. 😃😉 I have an expensive smartphone as well, of course I do, but I use that when I'm at home.

To be honest you can pick up smartphones cheaply if you want them - I think this is more for people who are sick of being slaves to their phone but find it hard to break the shackles

Please, can it be used as a Wi-Fi distribution point, and does it give excellent quality? A friend from Algeria.
@AbdullaZaki2 жыл бұрын
Yes You can use it to share WiFi. The quality is okay but it's not super fast
