But I found that Nokia may needs some software update for the camera, as from my using experience the camera has not yet fully utilized, especially in low light and for most of the pictures seem to be over processing (which can be spotted when you enlarge the photos).

I had a chance to see it a couple of weeks ago. The phone is huge. It leaves the impression of great build, I like the dark color of the back and the screen is decent. However, I would not change my Nokia 8 Sirocco or Nokia 9 for it. 🙃

I only started being active in June this year :) But if you want to laugh you can watch my old videos from 9 years ago haha. Some Nokia devices had issues with their charging port. Eventually the phone would stop charging when connected. It was a hardware issue found on the Nokia 5.1 plus, Nokia 6.1 plus and Nokia 7 plus I believe. I also believe its not present on newer phones. Nokia issued free of cost repair for users of these devices under warranty.

Its not mentioned anywhere how many mics it has. I can count 2 clear mic holes (The 9 also has 2 mic holes but 3 mics) and it can live broadcast also to youtube like the 9. Its audio recording also has wind noise reduction which the 9 doesn't have.

Hello, I appreciate the quality of the reviews as well as your competence ... maybe you can clarify me in one aspect ... I would like to know what is the sound quality of the 3.5 jack - how is it compared to an LG V40 for example? From what I read on the internet it doesn't have a dedicated DAC like the phones for audiophiles (LG V40 has for example a QUAD DAC that sounds exceptional) ... I listen to a lot of music on headphones, (FLAC, DSF, etc ... in general lossless converted) and I don't want to have an unpleasant surprise ... Thanks.

Hi Gabriel, good question. Sadly I don't have the correct equipment to be able to tell you how good or not it is. I pulled out my LG G6 which has DAC and tested it against the 8.3 using a cheap pair of headphones and couldn't tell much of a difference. I would advise you to actually take your own pair of headphones and try it on a demo unit if it's a big deal for you. Sorry I wish I could help more.

I really want to buy one - now it is 351 Euro (6GB/64GB), at the same price as Moto G 5G...I returned a Moto G 5G 2 weeks ago, I didn't like it... I would like a 20:9 display, 21:9 is too narrow for me...I also returned a POCO X3 NFC one month ago and a MI10T Lite yesterday...the last 2 have good hardware but the software is making me crazy...a lot of lags and bottlenecks...I am not a gamer but occasionally I play Bubble story, just to unwind...a simple game with low graphics - even this has a lot of lags...LG V40 made 3 years ago is running it very smooth... Most likely I will buy Nokia 8.3 and I will test it...I don't expect to be able to drive the Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro (250 ohms) as LG V40 but I will test with a couple with very good in-ear headphones...I will let you know about my tests...fingers crossed...:-)

I received 3 days ago my 8.3...and most likely I will send it back...sound quality on 3.5 jack is mediocre but I could live with it...unfortunately this terminal is not listed by my operator as compatible VoLTE phone...I contacted them and explain that is a compatible VoLTE terminal but it didn’t help...ah...one more issue...yesterday the colours on display turned to gray...not 100% gray but were not normal...everything was fine after a reboot but however it was not a good sign...

Hello Abdulla. Thank you for the review. To me İ can say that it is the most beautiful looking phone from Nokia. Honestly it's size too big to people who have small hands like me. İ don't know if İ can take selfie easly with this big device :) if it's price were between 300-400 Euro, it's specifications were acceptable. But if you pay 550-650 Euro for a device, you naturaly expect better spesifications. Hopefully Nokia Mobile reduce the price dramaticly. We will look forward your second review to see its video and photograph performance. We will have questions to you :)

I think the price will be reduced in a few weeks time, which would make this phone a lot better for most people :) Even at 500 euros, it feels like a much more expensive device than the Oneplus nord for example, without looking at the specs. I think the 8.3 is the better phone overall (screen, cameras, performance, materials) however the reason Im using the X20 is the superb battery life. Constantly giving me 8 hours of screen on time with 2 SIM cards on use, 5G, navigation, etc etc. If you're not too bothered with photography, especially night photography, X20 might be better for you. I will make a video comparison between them soon :)

What's the difference in nokia pureview branded phones as compared to other non pureview nokia phones....

Good question. PureView is not a specific spec, but its a unique focus on something. For example, the 9 had the unique 5 camera setup. For the 8.3 its the advanced video features and special wide angle camera for video. Back in the day, the 920 was the first phone with OIS. The 808/1020 had the huge sensors and lossless zoom. The 930 had a big sensor and advanced HDR. I hope that explains it well.

The 12mp sensor with f1.8 aperture and 1.4 micron pixel size on the 8.1 is better I think in terms of specs.

I haven't tested the 8.1 to tell you, but I think OIS is the biggest differentiator in terms of camera. The newer Sensor on the 8.3 should be better overall.

On which devices? My experiences have been mixed. The 8 was okay, the 8 sirocco would get warm. The 9 pureview was okay, and the Nokia 5.3 and 8.3 both seem okay.

Both features are not common amongst upper midrange devices. So its not a huge deal, but this phone should also be a bit cheaper because of the huge delay.

When 8.3 was launched in March I think it was the first smartphone which comes with 765G processor but we are getting it's unboxing in October which makes it the last smartphone comes with 765G after OnePlus , LG , Vivo , Oppo and Realme after all of these Nokia comes with 765G. Hmd has to fix this worst marketing.

Samsung for better performance (at least on paper) and better display, Nokia for better hardware design, build quality, and video.. Have to test the camera on both but I think it will be very close. And the Samsung costs about 100 euros more.

The real in depth review will determined if it's enough to go against pixel, Samsung and one+. I have a feeling it doesn't offer as much value for money. This maybe a phone for a more Nokia diehard. The real test will be it's low light ability with the camera.

Even on paper, the specs and hardware are generally in the Nokia's favor compared to the Pixel 4a 5G. So if the camera is good, it will be a very close call.

I agree with you, but the general perception of most people when they see bezels these days is that the phone is outdated, even if it looks handsome and symmetrical. So I understand why they had to move to notches and punch holes. Starting from end of this year, we will see more phones with no notches. Hopefully the Nokia 9.3 will have an under display camera :)

@@AbdullaZaki i know right thats what the problem is , NOKIA should understand there own company legacy and there iconic value ,i can give u an example like bugatti still uses analog speedometer in all its cars including the latest divo, cuz they wanted the look to be timeless and not outdated while other still used screens, its not outdated look it defines the legacy and ,google pixel 4 have bezels they should think about this, about what NOKIA really is!!! they used the apple earphones design for there earphones in 8.3 5g earphones they could have invented there own design , also copied the look of airpods pro in E3500 true wireless earbuds this is disappointing bro... i they shouldnt use punch hole or notch untill they have the technology to completely disappear the front camera like they are going to use in pureview i hope so, but for mid range smartphones they should use thin bezels...they could do modifications in some other areas such as camera , headphone jack quality , speakers ,display type , back look but why try to interfere with the thing which u dont have the solution to they could add notification light , dual cameras and other sensors in bezels to enhance the experience.....

Nokia should launch their phones at right time, with right pricing, else they will end up with only strong Nokia Nostalgic Fan Base buying the phone always without adding new population as their customer. Nokia seems to be floating only for feature phone market that may die sooner than later. I wish they launch Nokia 9.3 5G pureview in 1st Quarter next year 2021, atleast. Or they should have done this before iPhone 12 launch. I feel sorry for Nokia. I have very strong feeling of HMD global being dragged to abyss. Great phones of next Gen needs Great n opportune Timing which Nokia lacks big time. Please be punctual.

The CPU is the 2nd best after the 865 series. In day to day tasks its almost as good. Price is a valid point.

Why so much oversized phone from nokia HMD now....Nokia 5.3 is also big even Nokia 2.3 is also over sized ..we want handy phone not oversized phones...we always don't see movies ...it's better to make phone of 5.5 to 5.8 inch size phone and this it's enough for watching movies with good experience not small and not big....it's called perfect size... Mobile company are pushing us to buy these oversized phones now..and they don't want to do R&D for small phone size with up-to-date specifications (display quality, camera quality, latest processor, battery capacity, wireless charging ) they are just copy and paste there system...

As much i like nokia , and i am currently using a nokia smartphone . But google pixel 4a murders this smartphone in almost every department .

I wouldn't say every department considering this has a better main sensor (not in terms of image quality, but in terms of sensor quality), a capable wide angle camera, better selfie camera, a much bigger battery, much better hardware design (quality and design), a much faster more capable CPU/GPU combination, and more RAM, and a Micro SD slot. The same can be said about the Pixel 4a 5G except for the CPU/GPU which is the same. I would say this slots more against the Pixel 5, while the upcoming 7.3 will be a direct competitor to the 4a.

I did not like the phone ... I would wait 7.3 or 6.3 to replace my 5.3 device ........ I don't like the device is very heavy. Way they Change the location of 3.5 mm. 😒

After I used 5.3 ... I like the plastic materials from Nokia. I hope 6.3 7.3 comes as well ... with a respectable camera and reasonable specifications ... with a small chin at the bottom
