Nokia Lumia 800 review

A review of Nokia's first Windows Phone. The Lumia runs Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, and it bears a great similarity to the Nokia N9. It has a polycarbonate casing, a 3.7" AMOLED display with 800 x 480 resolution and an 8MP camera. It runs on a 1.4GHz Qualcomm single core CPU with 16 gigs of storage, and it has HSPA+ 14.4. This is the Euro version and it's GSM. A US version be out later. It has the Zune music and video player, IE 9 web browser (no Adobe Flash), and full PIM and MS Office mobile software.

@poloboss66 It doesn't mean any Xbox game can play on the Windows Phone 7, only the titles Microsoft sells for the Windows Phones. It's also there for sharing scores, getting game info and such.

I see myself breaking that USB cover within two days... and too many buttons running along the right side. If WP7 wasn't so young I might consider it. Android market is huge, but the OS is still a lagtastic POS no matter which version you have or how many CPU cores (you shouldn't have to kill tasks every 5 minutes just to make it usable). That brings me back to iPhone yet again. Best of both worlds.

@MrSvenssondaniel Dog ate the browser test. OK, seriously, that footage got corrupted so we couldn't include it. As a consolation, IE 9 mobile performs the same on the Nokia as on other Windows Phones running 7.5. Still not as fast as Android and iOS, but rendering is pretty solid.

I have a black one for about 2 weeks. It´s an absolutely gorgeous phone. I know it doesn´t have WP8, but mine it´s running WP7.8 wich cosmeticaly it´s equal to WP8. Besides that, it does everything i want with stuning smoothness and speed. I bought it over the Lumia 620 because of the stunning design, build quality, Amoled screen, camera and the cheaper price than the 620. Im very happy my choice.

@iDomo301 I believe on the Euro one it does have both pre-installed, but the US one comes with Zune, and Nokia said it will release an update for the US version to get Nokia music as well.

I can see why Nokia opts with Microsoft. The interface and the phone flushes into one, it seems like the hardware is meant to built for the software, and vice versa. I have my Lumia 800 in white, and I adore it in every way.

I like the design, I wish they used a metal case like the N8's though. As much was wrong with the N8, the case was as close to indestructible as a smartphone has come.

Hi guys. I'm really interested to get this phone. Currently I'm using the galaxy tab 7.7, but finding it a chore to bring it around or take it out of my bag. Wanna get a second phone that will mainly be use for music & a lil social media (FB, twitter. 4square,etc). Will this phone be able to survive a whole day of use? I dont mind having to charge it every night, but not twice a day. Have the updates solved the infamous battery issue?I had a real bad experience with my previous HTC Desire HD

I'm 14 and i've been having an old samsung phone thats been outdated since like 2008 or 09, let me tell you a little something about my phone i have currently, its a samsung magnet and it can't play videos or get the latest apps, its camera is atrocious, all you can do is talk and text. Fortunately for me im getting a new phone next friday, and i come across this, and i fall in love.. it's falling in love for the first time like back in 7th grade('09). i feel what this phone offers, i salute.

I tried to access this Nokia Lumia storage - so I can upload some stuff outside of Market place (such as Opera browser, etc..) or so I can upload some PDF files, or delete excel files from phone (which can't be deleted directly on the phone)..

I don't get it... why is Nokia SO un-popular in the US? I know the Symbian OS wasn't good for US market, (as it's not good anywhere anymore) but even the normal cheap feature phones... Is it something against Nokia as in principle or are the Nokia phones just really that bad? Or maby some other reason behind the un-popularity?

@karlctabby lumia 800 is a very buggy cellphone...dont believe me? check out Nokiablog or the discussion section of their website...i was undecided between this and other cells...gotta say it looks absolutely brilliant but very buggy...so wait for the 900 release (end of March or April) by then the price of 800 will drop too

WP has some nice ideas in it, but it's still not enough to get me excited. The UI is just too ugly and there's not enough customization. Also the camera is mediocre if you consider that it's coming from Nokia. By the way, these reviews are very good, but please don't use autofocus when you shoot the videos. It really messed this video too many times.

I must say that this is the best phone that I had in relation with the age in that I used it. And besides, it is the phone with the largest time of use that I had. I used it from early 2012 to mid 2015. It was really good phones, and an excellent operating system. That's a pity that Windows Phone wasn't appreciate by many users, by its age, it was better than Android

okay nokia is a trustworthy company and windows is what makes it more awesome but people i would recommend buying htc windows phone with same user interface but more features take look at the htc titan.. anyone agree?

Nokia Music is a big plus outside the USA, where Nokia has established excellent rights access internationally with the content owners. However, within the USA I agree...no real reason to use this when you have Zune.

Bcoz in US, the Mobile manufacturing companies are at the mercy of Network Operators for the sales. Nokia don't wanted to enter this kind of business model all these years.
