I have owned Dunlop, Bridgestone, Pirelli and these Nokian Winter tires. There is a distinct difference between the others and these. While the other 3 can plow you through snow like no one's business, the Nokians are all finesse. They are elegant tires, providing a silky smooth Winter driving experience no matter the specific condition. I would never consider anything else for my G550. Truly amazing.

R3 on my CLS63 by recommendation as I asked for the best winter tyres given no 4matic and 550hk/800Nm - very very pleased. After 2000 km in different conditions, I’m really impressed by the performance.

I have the r3 suv tires on my xc60. Well worth the money. I live in Central Wisconsin. Winter hell. Every thing you can think of in winter. Best snow tire ever.

I got these tires on my skoda superb 4x4 and I love them. I try today to drift on wet snow and it was now easy. Just got pushed back in the seat and off we go. The grip is crazy. Also 110kmh in a corner in full winter road is no problem 😍

I picked these up for my GR86 and they are incredible so far. Rolling resistance is so little that these drive better than my summers in a straight line and the grip on snow is incredible compared to my unstudded General Altimax Arctic 12's. Gained 2 mpg and these still corner fairly well with minimal delay/squirm on steering, definitely don't handle like a summer tire but way better than any winter I've driven on.

Do you put weight on the trunk ? Current gen mustang almost have 50-50 (about 52/48) weight distribution How does your mustang perform on steep hill ?

I’ve ran blizzaks and ice-3 on my bmws.. these Nokias tires are however the worst. On the X3 these drift the vehicle and I feel like I have no control. Grip is absolutely garbage. They are 2 winters old now, and they performed terribly even when new. Not sure if I have a bad batch of these or what.. but never again am I buying them

Just ordered 1 set of Hakkapeliitta R3s. Here in Finland Nokian is number 1 and not just because its finnish, but its best there is.

They were suggested to me at a tire location here in Ontario, Canada. I've never heard of them, for some reason. They are the most expensive of all the tires they quoted me but based on their reviews, I think I'll get them.

@@FeelMyRiver they quoted $221 per tire before tax. So I suppose $221 x 4 and then add the tax which is 13%. There is a $80 rebate after.

Getting a mk8 R in the next week or so. I’m in MA. I’ve also never owned awd or winter tires so I’m pumped. How were these in the cold wet ?

You know, it would make much more sense (since you're doing a tire-test, not a car-test) to test these tires on a rear wheel drive or front wheel drive vehicle. AWD-cars already have a major traction advantage and you'd probably achieve a decent test result even with average all-season tires. The question is, how much traction do these things provide on a less capable rear wheel drive vehicle for example.

I have the R2s. Are these as 'squirmy' as those in the dry? Otherwise an amazing tire I agree.

Maybe slightly less. I used to have R2:s and now have R3. But use more tire pressure to help with this. Nokian says to use 0.2bar, 20kPa or 3psi more than what car manufacturer says but you can use even more.

Just got r3’s the other day. Compared to other winter tires I’ve run they are very “squirmy” and thank you I’ve been looking for a word to describe their weird dry handling.

@@mk4jay yeah they’re great in snow, but in the dry all those sipes work against you. The tire is almost entirely sipes.
