That's exactly what happens with my Nokta Relics at the beach too. I'm by a freshwater lake, and it's the same thing. I had to go into the GEN mode and pull the sensitivity all the way down to 35, and then I get the gold chain back, and make sure to turn off Auto ground. Other than that, this detector rocks!!

That's all good but Targets at the Beach are always very deep ! If you lift that coil a few inches you will not hear that Chain at all. I think for Beach hunting it's a waist of time. I rather take my TDI Pro or TDI SL to the Beach !

Depends where you hunt. Some people hunt the wet sand right after the tide recedes looking for newly lost items. My TDI Pro is the deepest beach machine I know of but it will not hear this gold chain.... different detectors for different purposes....

I rather pull out a deep Diamond Gold ring than a very small Gold chain on the surface !!!

PI detectors are always going to be better on salt water. I have used my Impact down the beach and yes you do sometimes have to set it up manually but it does proform very well for a VLF machine. I use my Impact on extremely difficult land thats riddled with hot rocks and black coke rocks that give off a highly positive response but my Impact still picks up the goods and it does finds the smallest of objects that are deep.

Thanks for the review. Considering a new machine in the future. Nice to see real world reviews. Glen

Great to see a interesting test on the Impact . In the manual it does say you can run +5 .Which will help the signals . I usually use auto . But on occasion i have had to manual GB . Might try in pasture usually DI3 . Auto GB then manually go up 5 . Interesting . Looking forward to your next Impact test . We don't do much beech work . More untouched pasture and a bit of arable .

Positively ground balancing detectors on land helps enhance the signal for some deep/smaller targets. With salt water it can be unstable when you go into the positive side for example with the AT Max, I had to negatively ground balance it by -3 to get it to operate somewhat quietly on the beach. The impact impressed me by hearing the gold chain.

Now that is info you can use. How many gold chains are still out there. Probably a lot. 🖖

I have said impact . Ground balance and get a nice threshold and 30 seconds later it just grunts at me . Not really experienced with it . Gotta keep flicking the switch to retune . Is that normal .

Thanks for the review. Help me choose Makro Racer 2 and Nokta Impact?

I like them both plus I have the Simplex to test and I will be doing a video review this month. From what I have seen so far, its a good machine at a great price.

Minelab gpx 5000 on the beach ?? Good or bad ??
@DetectorComparisons6 жыл бұрын
I have used it and tested it side by side with the TDI Pro. The GPX 5000 is deep but a little noisy on salt water sand. I was hearing rings at 18-20"

5000 is brilliant on wet sand. 11" mono in Salt Gold and away you go, purrs like a kitten.
