Great video, the LG30 is a good coil for open fields where you don't get to swing close to the ground, it'll still give you a good depth. But when you can get close to the ground, the LG24 is the far better choice.

We have done extensive field testing LG30 vs LG24. The LG30 has a larger footprint over the minerals in the ground.....the minerals mask targets. The LG24 coil will find about 98% or more of the targets the LG30 coil on random targets. If your main intention is to go deep in mild ground, the LG30 may be the one to use. LG24 coil penetrates deeper in the ground when there is minerals because it has to process less minerals because smaller footprint.

I’m moving to South America, Paraguay, in a few months, and plan to do fresh water beaches, parks, and relic hunting there… I have no clue what the ground mineralization there is like or anything else, so I’m just guessing by trying to see which coil will work best there. I currently have the LG28 and the 30 that came with the unit.

Bravo!!!! MD Producers should advice that using bottlecap reject we may skip good targets under it and nearby (with a range bigger with a bigger coil). Considering that, on sand, bottlecaps are lighter than many EU coins and medium silver/gold rings, the risk of loosing them is high using that function as they will often be on top. Thanks again.

Only thinking that when BC was on 6, i was missing all the good targets under a bottlecap in a range of 10in even with a recovery at 6 and sensivity at 30 in beach wet mode. That's a lot of pssible lost targets. I decided to use it to skip bottlecaps but I tought that it would see nearby coins/rings. Now thanks to @PaystreakSuperfreak i will never use it and pick up all the bottlecaps.

Eastern Paraguay has red mineralized dense clays and western Paraguay has sandy loam soil. The LG24 coil will be your best friend over there!! Paraguay has lots of marsh land and probably tall grass. The LG28 coil is a big underperformer according to many many users and myself. The LG30 coil would be a good bigger coil. Bigger coils struggle more in minerelized ground. I’ll be hunting in both sides of the country as I’ll be travelling back n forth. They are indeed so very very different, like two different worlds, in absolute every way, separated by the big river. A bunch of bottle caps and pull tabs means there have been many people there, so it’s no surprise that there is also jewelry among the trash. And like you said if you clear out the bottle caps, the chances of finding the goodies are better. Maybe next time buy one of those magnet on two wheels and roll it all over the area you want to detect, so you can at least clear the top layer of iron before you start digging. Happy Digz _/ 👍

I never notch anything out, with the X-Terra Pro and because you will definitely be missing Target's and I would rather be digging up the two Or so Targets but I also have been using the All Metal Mode on the X-Terra Pro just to see if it is a iron Target there also then I will get another idea of where the Iron is and where the good Targets is and shift the coil to just see if the Coin target can give me it's Tone and Or VDI number By itself and if I can get it figured out the dig is on , but I don't like to notch anything..... but I have with the older type of Detectors and the Simplex + and I got tired of digging up ALOT of iron falseing quarter Tone Targets with it.......

From what I can tell park and field program are basically the same except they have different target id for 11-20 I tried waving a possible gold chain in both modes, in park solid 11 In field I needed to push the gain so high I was getting EMI being inside and it barely picked up the chain

Park is better for IDing shallow targets .........field better for IDing deep targets. They may even use a different frequency range to do so which could be the issue.

@@MrBottlecapBill what do you mean a different frequency range I know recovery speed effects depth, and on the simplex plus recovery speed is one of the differences between park and field on the simplex The manual dosnt actually say park is shallow and field is deep, but I'm really not sure Maybe park has better separation too? I dunno

I have not messed to much with the IF because I use single frequency all the time I am detecting. I do not hunt in multi frequency with the Legend, none of my friends use multi either.

Hello jim question is the lg 30 coil a heavy coil to swing does it wear your arm out swinging?

We do not use the LG30 coil because it makes the detector very heavy. The LG24 does great for jewelry and coins.

If you stay in all metal, but 2 targets are in same area, will you hear both tones?

No not unless the machine is able to pick them both up separately. If not you get one tone, usually the closest target.

You should have tested in several FREQUENCIES and different settings...

I only have 17 minutes for the video, Lower frequencies are less sensitive to foil. Higher frequencies will unmask low conductors through iron. But the bottlecaps are just a no starter. Nothing will get through the bottlecaps...nothing!! The higher you discriminate or notch...the less you will unmask. Not all targets are masked!!
