There may still be some sort of tax loophole that "protects" police,etc. from IRS issues that would otherwise cause average citizen to pay extra taxe$ for the benefit of a take home car. One of my friends who worked for a private company had a take home car,and company had to give him a "raise" that he did not see on his net paycheck, just to offset the tax on the benefit of a free ride to and from work daily. IRS position was that it is a personal, not "business" trip to get to and from work.
@thomassullins86905 жыл бұрын
Effective daily supervision should have prevented the problems that these special programs invite. Essentially,these counties/parishes "hired" state troopers as contractors. The parishes want a higher level of enforcement and also want the monie$ from fines. Could somebody up the chain of command not look at the mileage sheets compared to time sheets? Did the tickets line up with the time and mileage sheets? If he drove less than 40 extra miles above a regular shift while patrolling from home ( or is it "tele-patrolling" ) would it not raise questions? Especially if it was 40 miles each way to the assigned extra parish?
