Thanks for the update John, looking forward to seeing it go on. I'm still running the stock tank, but looking to increase my range, but keep weight low(ish). This might be the ticket!

It goes on exactly like the 20L. just a little more svelt...

Like you I ran the 3 gallon IMS tank but it holds the weight too high. I’ve been running the Nomad 15 liter for a year now and absolutely love it. It actually holds 4 gallons and because it holds the fuel lower it feels less top heavy than the IMS does with 3 gallons. Also the 15 liter is narrower in the knees that the 20 liter which I also appreciate.
@JohnTYoung Жыл бұрын
In that case maybe I will install it! Thanks Jerry.

@@wesc23 it is a total of 2” wider than stock. 1” wider on each side at the radiators. I ride standing up 90% of the time. If I sat all the time it might be bothersome.

Based on this; the 5 gal/20l would be 4” wider than stock (2” each side), correct?

Same bolt spinning issue on my IMS tank. It’s frustrating. I called them last year and they said to get some long pliers in there to grab the indention then try and get the bolt out. That’s impossible. They didn’t seem interested in replacing mine. I’d gave to cut the bolt from the tank in order to save the $90 plastic cover. That would ruin the tank more so than it already is. As it stands now that plastic cover might as well be part of the tank. Everything still works and if I absolutely had to I could remove the tank without removing the plastic cover. Both would just come out together as one piece.

Yup. Going on 5 years and they still haven't addressed this.

Might want to check your math on that one. 15L is 4 gallons, or very nearly (3.96). That's pretty critical detail when deciding what tank to go with. Thanks for the comparison with the 20L tank.

You are 100% correct. I'm not sure why he Mick said 3.5 gallons. Thanks for the catch!
@irishflyer637711 ай бұрын
This depends if your using imperial or US gallons and can cause confusion, roughy 4 US gallons = 3.5 imperial Gallons = 15 Liters
@commentaccount4911 ай бұрын
Thanks for this explanation, I went down the rabbit hole of reading about this difference and why it exists. Since Nomad is an Australian company, it is definitely reasonable to suspect that they gave John the capacity in Imperial Gallons. @@irishflyer6377

I have the nomad 11 liter tank. I really enjoy it. But have been considering changing to the 15 liter tank(I think 20L is too much). Because it's a lot of planing with fuel stops when traveling with 11liters. I usually keep 2liters of reserve fuel in my luggage when traveling just in case, but I could have 3liters of water instead of 2liters of fuel and 1.5liters of water.

Hey John, really like the tank and looking to pick up the 20liter myself…but I’m stuck on the color. The black has a lot sleeker look, but hard to argue that the see through-ish aspect of the “clear” is great for being able to eyeball how much fuel you’ve got left. Was thinking a sneaky work around would be if a really strong flashlight put right up onto the side could sneak a tiny bit of light through…juuuuuuust enough to peek down through the gas cap and get a warm and fuzzy for how much fuel is in there…any chance you could shed some light on that idea for me?
@JohnTYoung9 ай бұрын
Your bike can track how much fuel it's burned since filling up. No peaking necessary.

Hey John I just found out from your gas tank replacement video I have to pull the gas tank to install the vortex and I want to put this tank on but it won't be here before our trip. If I just install the throttle tamer for now until the Nomad gets here how much will that help at low speeds?
@JohnTYoung Жыл бұрын
It'll help quite a bit. And... if you don't mount the ECU back into its cradle but instead make foam nest for it you'll be able to access it without pulling the tank.

Hi John, nice video as always. One question, I see you have decals on the plastic tank, how come it doesn't fall and tear? In my bike the decals where in place for only a couple of months. I was told the plastic is porous and the gasoline evaporates thru it.
