Catherine reviews her mala-knotting technique as taught through countless classes at Nomad Bead Merchants!
Required materials:
108 beads (8mm used in the video)
1 card of size 10 Griffin nylon (one is sufficient for most 8mm malas; the second thread mentioned in the video is strictly insurance)
3 counter beads (10mm used in the video)
1 center or guru bead
1 tassel or charm

The whole reason I'm wanting to make my own is because all the commercial ones seem to use nylon, only for the video to suggest nylon as well. Why not natural fibers like hemp, jute, cotton, etc?

I’m wishing I had the materials in my craft stash to start right away! *sighs* I guess I can do the other part and get online and shop for/pick out the supplies. 😊 but, the wait is going to be the death of me. I will also be making rosaries using your technique as my old ones were made with too much spaces between the knots since I didn't know that you can use a tweezer to tighten the knots.
