My goal is to see as many states in the United States and to do that I travel by van which is my home on wheels. I live in a van full-time. My ultimate goal is to visit as many countries as possible outside of the US and to do that I fly. I go from vanlifer to a nomad. On this channel, you get a mix of everything you get full-time vanlife, and you get a nomad(me) who travels by air land and sea. My life is unpredictable and adventurous.

Never judge a book by its cover. Never take the news at face value. Chicago is an amazing city. You must visit Chicago if you haven’t, it’s so fun and so much to do! Every city has its bad parts. There is no perfect city. Just gotta know how to move. P.S. I’m aware that anywhere you go it’s going to have it’s dangerous spots and moments. You just gotta move smart. I’m going to travel the world and nothing is going to stop me. I just make sure I’m aware of my surroundings and most importantly I do my research, I listen to the locals and to you guys! You guys tell me what parts to stay away from and I listen.

Chicago is my favorite city in the US. It is the quintessential US city. It is such a great town and the negative reports you hear are for very small areas of the city. Downtown Chicago is wonderful but definitely COLD in the winter from the wind off the lake. Great shopping, great restaurants, and great neighborhoods! Lakeview is my favorite.

Thanks for the nostalgic memories…I know it as the famous Marshall Fields - the clock tower. I grew up seeing the beauty of the beautiful window scenes every year; and the restaurant with the huge tree was known as the famous Walnut Room. I visited Chicago labor day weekend with my daughter. Loved it. The Riverwalk was much busier. Try the ice cream museum. We are definitely planning on returning for another visit.

Listen, I went to Chicago in 2019 to attend the Chicago marathon. It was my last trip before the pandemic. I knew fellow runners on that trip but I went solo. I had so much fun but it’s like no one believed me because all they knew was Chiraq (I had no idea what that was). I took the subway from the airport, stayed in Lincoln park. I don’t know if it was a vibe because it was a big event weekend but I thoroughly enjoyed myself and people were friendly. I definitely want to go back!

When i was a kid we'd go downtown to look at the Marshall Fields Christmas window display. (That Macy's was formerly Marshall Fields. They still have the placard on the side). I dont know if they do that everywhere, but its a part of Chicago tradition (in that building).

Thanks for visiting our beautiful city. You can always tell who's from Chicago and who's not when people talk about Chicago. Let's talk about Macy's. Honesty, the Macy's in Chicago pales in comparison to the one in NY. You'll probably have a better experience in NY. If you noticed the corner placard on the outside of the building it reads "Marshall Field & Company". Mr Field was an understudy of Harry Selfridge (Selfridge's London) before launching Marshall Field & Company in Chicago. Marshall Field's & Company was one of the most beloved and highly regarded retailers in the U.S. and was the gem of Chicago/State Street. It was bought out by Macy's years ago and some die-hard Marshall Field loyalists will not shop with Macy's to this day. I had a love affair with the store, as it was my first upscale shopping experience as a teen. I hope you had a chance to visit the 7th Floor and The Walnut Room, as there's lots of history on that floor. Please come back to visit us soon!

Thank you for taking us to Macy's in Chicago with you. I was surprised to see the streets of Chicago with so few people walking on them at this time of year. There were a fair amount of people inside of Macy's but on the streets, you would never know it is Christmas in Chicago. The deer's name by the way is Rudolf or Prancer or Dasher, etc. Bambi is in a Walt Disney movie and has nothing to do with Christmas. LOL

Dear Nomi, So glad I saw this vid today. I feel like I'm right there with you as you're so personable. That breakfast sandwich looked so good. I loved the walk going past Macy's. When I was last in Chicago we (my mom and sis) went to Marshall Fields and that was the most AMAZING dept store I had ever been to in my life. Everything from furniture, food courts, additional floors for clothing, just unbelievable. I was so bummed when the store closed. Chicago is such a vibrant city. Thanks for coming to visit my hometown (that toddling Town). By the way Macy bought that store from Marshall Fields. The trumpets are from Marshall Field days, they did it EVERY YEAR. Back when Marshall Fields owned it (you can still see their name on the building) EVERY WINDOW would be decorated for Christmas. The good old days.

Both the Macy’s in Chicago and NYC are historic landmarks. The NYC one on 34th ST Herald Square is “The Miracle on 34th Street” store … or THE Macy’s: their flagship opened in 1902. The Macy’s State Street in Chicago used to be Marshall Field’s until Macy’s took them over about 20 years ago. It has a really cool Tiffany glass mosaic ceiling.

Chicago is an awesome city! Next time you are there, take some of the Chicago Architecture Society walking tours. Everyone takes the river boat tour which is nice but those CAS walking tours are the best!
