Am in UK so Nomad gear is expensive to get here so if I had the choice of both for a similar price, I’d go for the Nomad. Horween leather is all I need to say here 🙂👍🏻

Great review as always. I would like it if this case had a tapered lip like the Mous Limitless 4.0 and the Otterbox Defender Pro for the iPhone 13 pro max. I currently have the Otterbox Defender Pro on the iPhone 12 Pro Max - it's a great case but I want to take advantage of the MagSafe feature when I upgrade to the 13. As an Otterbox fan, I was initially drawn to the Defender XT. Unfortunately, it does not have the tapered lip and barely offers any camera protection compared to the defender pro. At this point, I feel like I must give up the holster and some protection in order to get something that's MagSafe compatible. Are there any other cases that might fit my needs? - Tapered lip - MagSafe compatible - Decent camera protection - Holster(?) Thank you.

Hi Jeison! Holsters seem to be getting less common...Folio cases as well, for some reason. This case from Pelican looks pretty good--it is MagSafe, and has a holster. No idea about lips or camera protection. I haven't had any experience with the case at all...just saw it online: case-mate.com/products/pelican-voyager-magsafe-clear-iphone-13-pro-max I don't have any experience with this brand, but they seem to specialize in holsters: www.encased.com/attribute/device-model/iphone-13-pro-max/ Or this case by SupCase--again, I have no experience with it but it has a holster and looks rugged. Hi Kelsey! I'm basing this answer on the cases Nomad just sent me for the iPhone 14 series. So, first, Nomad has a pretty useful comparison page on their website which discusses the difference: nomadgoods.com/pages/leather In my opinion, the two things which are really noticeable between the two leather types are the degree of leather aroma and the finish of the leather. The Horween cases have a much richer leather smell and the surface of the leather is glossier and higher quality in appearance. The Modern Leather cases, which are made with leather from the Ecco tanneries in Europe (as opposed to the Horween tannery in Chicago), also have a leather smell, but it is much less pronounced, and the surface of the leather is a bit duller. Still nice leather, but not the kind that makes you say 'Wow'! The leather from the Ecco tannery (the non Horween variant) may be more eco friendly, however as it is described as being 'sustainably sourced'. Personally, if you can swing the extra $20, I think it is worth it to get the Horween version if you are the kind of person who is really into leather. Hope this helps!

Hi Gianni! Thanks so much! I think a microfiber interior has a lux look and feel, but I'm not really sure it makes much difference as far as protection is concerned, to be honest. The one argument that I have seen in favor of the practical benefit of a soft lining is that if there is a piece of grit that is trapped in between the case and the phone, it is less likely to scratch your phone if it is embedded in a soft lining as opposed to being held against a hard plastic back.

Do you think this case will be compatible with the Flolab edge-to-edge screen protector? The brown leather looks great with the Starlight colour iPhone, unfortunately I ended up getting the Midnight colour 13 mini instead! Also, what's your thoughts on companies charging the same price for different sized iPhones?

Hi Seth! Nice to hear from you! Unfortunately, I don't really know. It's not a very tight fitting case, and the case sides don't intrude much upon the screen, so I'd guess that your odds are good that it would play nice with the FloLab edge to edge. However, my data is based on the 13 Pro Max version, and you are asking about the 13 Mini version, which I have zero experience with. Sometimes, cases for different size phones fit very much the same across a particular case model, but sometimes they don't. I can see as a 13 mini owner, you'd prefer to pay less for your smaller case! 😂 As for why some case companies charge different prices for the larger size phone cases, and other companies just go with a 'one price' model, I really don't know whether this is just a pricing strategy or whether it costs significantly more to make the larger versus the smaller cases. You would think that cases which incorporate more expensive materials, such as fancy leather cases, would be more likely to have a cost difference, but I'm just guessing! Good luck!!

Hi! How's your experience with the stainless steel frame on the silver iPhone after few months? Does the frame still get micro scratches even by cleaning the phone before gently changing cases?

I haven't seen any yet, but last year, with the 12 Pro Max, by the end of the year, I had some tiny micro scratches. Still loved that phone, though. And you really couldn't see them unless you looked really hard...

I've been using the Nomad leather case for my 13 PM for two weeks, and I'm not really happy with the way the case feels this time around. For some reason, I don't remember the Nomad on my 7 Plus feeling anywhere near as scratchy and cheap as this latest case. I've got a Mous Limitless 4.0 in leather coming my way, and I'll see which one I'll prefer and keep. May end up going back to the Apple leather one and just dealing with the protection compromise.

Hi Jeffrey! I think the Nomad is going to add very little size or weight to your iPhone 13 mini. It is a pretty minimal case...I think you should be good to go one handed...

You will notice a weight difference, coming from the 11. The stainless steel sides make the phone considerably heavier. You might want to go into an Apple Store and check out the phones first hand. As for a screen protector, I haven’t gotten a chance to put one on yet, but I’ll definitely use one.

Tough call! Both are great. I got the 13 Pro Max first, so I have more experience with it. Fantastic battery life, big beautiful screen. The 13 Pro is a more pocketable size, but I haven’t used it enough to know if the battery life is going to measure up…

Unfortunately, I recently became the owner of this rustic brown leather case for iPhone 13 pro max. 1. The quality of the leather is good only on the pictures, in real life it looks like cheap fakes from aliexpress with shitty edge trim. 2. The way "aging" is presented is also marketing nonsense and the cover simply turns into a shabby piece of shit that can leave traces of paint if you hook it with something. 3. The NSF tag function works with a long delay and the application itself obtrusively asks for money for the "pro version". So it has an extremely low quality for such a price, flooded with marketing nonsense. Won't ever recommend it to anyone.

Sorry to hear it, Alexander! Being a natural product, you do end up with some variation with leather. It's possible you just got a defective case...one which should have failed quality control. So sorry! Have you reached out to Nomad regarding your issues?
