used to know a guy who did this, he was one of the owners of the foriegn correspondents club in phnom penh, and worked in cambo as a lawyer. but he only paid 50k usd it was really cheap back then i think he got it in the 90s. he was questioned a lot at borders and gave up trying to explain, just said that he was married to a cambodian. he was quite disappointed that he didnt actually get to meet the king. officially you were supposed to have an audience with the king to decide if you were a suitable citizen but in reality it just involved paying off some royal aide

I became a Cambodian by investment about 10 years ago. One thing they don't mention is how difficult they make it to renew your passport. You can't just stroll up and renew like other Cambodian citizens. You have to take all your original paperwork over to the Interior Ministry and pay to have it all certified before they'll even talk to you. So be prepared to take several days and spend $1000 - $2000 when your passport needs to be renewed.

Andrew, true a number of countries in Asia restrict their citizenship... namely they don't like dual citizens among other things. I have the "right to residence" in two Asian countries as a US citizen, but I will never get my citizenship there. Not worth giving up my US passport yet. The countries I will mention don't exactly have established programs. I get this by my family ties. 1) India: I am of Indian background. I am a USA citizen by birth. India doesn't allow dual citizenship. I have what is called as an OCI visa. That is how I can reside in India. I have the right to work if I want it, but I don't see the need for India yet. 2) Vietnam: I am what they call a foreign spouse of a Vietnam citizen. My wife of 20 years is a dual US and Vietnam citizen. I get a visa waiver as a result. My wife is what they call as a Viet Kieu. Vietnam has a funny citizenship law. If you were born a Vietnam citizen, you can be a dual citizen and keep your Vietnam citizenship. If you naturalize as a Vietnam citizen, you must renounce your previous citizenship. That is why I will not get Vietnam citizenship.

Good video! I call these programs citizenship *for* investment, as the goal isn't global mobility. It's an entry ticket to invest in one of the world's fastest growing economies as a local. In practice, the donation route is much more common. The business investment route must be under a qualified investment project (QIP). These can only be in certain sectors, like manufacturing, and each sector has its own minimum investment amount - most of them well above $300k.

One can also become a citizen of Vietnam if you agree to follow its laws and constitution, learn to speak Vietnamese and you have enough money to support yourself. Thebeauty about Vietnam is if you are a citizen you can join the Communist Party and have a political career there and even become president if you want. The countries I would consider citizenship for would be Turkey, China, Russia, Belarus, Vietnam, and Cambodia. However I am not leaving the USA for tax reason but political reasons. I am not well aligned with the US government and would prefer to not live in a Democratic country. i thought like that 7 years ago. Now I hate leaving. Last year I traveled to Vietnam for 30 days and my heart yearned for Cambodia. Everytime I leave I become homesick for Cambodia. Now I just need to find a Khmer wife and then Cambodia will go with me wherever I go. Khnom Srolanh Kampuchea.

Do not do Asia unless you are married to one . Iv seen them all in Asia, they have shifting goal posts ,and all way with a new ideas in the new model to get westers in .pls . This is not in no way to discourage nomad capitalist in his business to guide you ( but) . While we have global change in play and commerce being protected in various countries mainly Asia and Europe stay put in the west and see who is rooting who in the global family.

@@zonansg4212 As far as I know, that many Chinese people are immigrating illegally to US and EU while so many Hong Kong citizens are abandoning their country and fleeing to UK, Canada or Australia. People in Indian also contribute a lot in these legal or illegal immigrants. And people in Vietnam, Thailand also want to leave their country. I was a Hong Kong citizen and now I’m living in UK. I have to admit that UK is in deep trouble but Asia’s economy and living surroundings are worse than you thought.
