Isn't the hand twister made for pre made wire with loops on it? I guess the wire is more expensive, but time is money.

You can Jerry rig an ordinary electric drill to twist wires without the loops. You don't even need to spend any money. They both weld and they have plenty of scrap metal around.

If you really wanna go fast on this, you have to get the premade 3 inch wire ties with loops on the ends. That way you can use the wire tying tool and it cuts down your time by like 150%. If you can’t buy the premade ones. It’s easy to make them and it’s time well spent. In front of the TV you could do them at night. You’re gonna need thousands of them. But so whatyou got the time and it’s gonna make making these cages so much more fun.

I've got a recommendation for the building of the columns. You'll need at least 2 saw horses, which are easy to make for yourself out of wood, 3 of them would be better so you can support the middle of longer pieces. Lay your 4 long pieces of rebar out on the saw horses close to the hole it will be going into so you don't have to transport the finished piece far. Tie the 4 together temporarily, count out the amount of square pieces you need and slide them onto the 4 pieces that are tied together. Then you untie the 4 long pieces of rebar and tie the end square pieces in place and work your way to the middle making sure to space them out appropriately. Should go faster and be easier on you especially if you can prep more wire ties and everything ahead of time, like on rainy days.

Y’all AMAZE me! It’s blowing my mind that you dug ALL those holes by hand! That’s CRAZY! If you can do that, the rest is a piece of cake. It’s a good thing those holes are deep otherwise your home might slide right down that mountain. This is going to be the absolute BEST BEAUTIFUL BANGING home EVER in Panama!

Great couple of weeks coming to an end! As someone that spent almost 10 years selling building materials I beg someone to buy or Fed Ex these two a Wire Tie device. PLEASE!!! If I could afford it or contribute to the GoFUNDMe for that one device I would. On another note Sadie is growing up as fast as my own grandchildren. Time STAND STILL please! I know you two look forward to the wedding, the house in Panama and the place in Stowe being done, but these days with her are precious. I am so grateful to have my own kids and grandkids, but the houses we lived in and other things are not as remembered as the giggles, the moments of growth and love. You two are amazing. Kalie, you would have to refine your clay a little bit, but yes, you can use your clay. Clay is very fine, so just dry, grind, and filter through a fine screen and you have workable clay. You want to do it before it gets mixed with the organic material, so put it aside while you dig holes.

I had a career where I used my hands and wrists every day. The result is, I have carpal tunnel in both wrists, and had to have a surgery on the right one. It became so numb and painful that I could not use it at all, and the pain would keep me awake at night. I have arthritis in both hands, and trigger fingers on both hands. This is where your fingers will lock in place when you bend them, and it is very painful! Get every tool you can to save your body from trama. Im glad of your continuous progress. A fee things; 1. Those rings are called stirrups. 2. That super tall rebar basket, there a very important thing to be aware and I hope is delineated on the plans. It is called "development length ". When you will tie up two rebars together like the vertical ones, you need to overlap them and tie them together a minimum length so the work as one. It depends on the structures forces the rebar will take but if I didn't have access to a structure engineer , I will assume at least 50 times the diameter of the rebar. For example, if thecrebar is 1/2", the development length will be 25". So the connecting rebars need to overlap 25". 3. Lastly, consider cold joints in concrete. If you don't pour concrete fast enough, you will have cold joints and the footer will not have the strength of a footing poured with homogeneous concrete. That little concrete mixer could be a huge problem .

That's a gorgeous place for your wedding! For some reason I thought you were getting married on your land. So I was confused why you started the house build before the wedding. And wondered how you would hide the construction area. Now I get it. You're getting married on your mountain, not on your land! Love watching your beautiful family, neighbors and animals! 😍

We really only use bobcats (what we call a skid steer regardless of make) with trax here in Australia. Useless without them! Everything is looking awesome so far!! We are having our rainy season at the moment also and it sucks!! You can also twist that wire with a drill and a Allen key in the end 👍🏻

You are so lucky not to have to contend with bitter cold there, here in MN we are dealing with Artic winds and cold, like -35/45 wind chill until Tuesday. I’m wearing winter hat to bed!! You warm me up!!

before you pour concrete, make sure you get a long green ground wire, tie it to your footers and bring it up in the dirt where your pill is gonna be that’s the best ground you can get. And it’s gotta be a solid green ground wire no no coating on it. Probably a number 10 wire.

I have a question….How are you going to prevent the garage from flooding in the rainy season?

Hey Jordan, They make a really cool concrete mixer attachment for skid steers called mix and go, they run off of the skid steers hydraulics and give you the ability to mix and then dump.
