I was a young early teens student in 1962 when Algeria got freedom from the French. Indian media used to cover the freedom struggle in great detail. The heroes of the very bloody Freedom struggle were Ahmed Ben Bella and Ahmed Ben Khedda. Ben Khedda used to wear slightly coloured glasses. Ben Bella was an imposing personality.

Honestly, I don't care about it as 100% of Islamic countries are non-Vegetarian and slaughter animals mercilessly. 70% Indians are animal murderers and animal meat eaters. So, not a big level of comparison between the evils in them. But what I care about is the freedom for girls, women, non-Muslims, atheists, LGBTQIIA+, animals, etc. There is Sharia Law in Islamic countries that kills people if they leave Islam or want to change their religion. Same law restricting women from wearing modern clothes. We can see 99% of all women in all Islamic countries, threatened to cove their bodies fully with Burka, Hijab or whatever that black dress is called. Even Turkey has Sharia law.

I was in Algeria in 1977 on a government assignment at Laghwat about 400 km south of Algiers stayed there for six months and use to visit Algiers city.Algerians very friendly and nice people they used to ask for Indian film songs cassettes and they love Indian movies and songs and I have seen several Indian films there in the theatres with Arabic subtitles.I have seen some French and Arabic movies with English subtitles.One Berrani became very friendly he had studied in Cairo hence could speak English he was also our guide also whenever we go out.Algiers city has changed a lot I think in almost fifty years.Thanks to Vashu for the nice video bringing back old memories of my stay there
