This bike is a huge upgrade from my old DR 350, so with only a 140 miles on the clock it still feels pretty awesome in stock form! That said, hand guards, a stiffer spring, a tail tidy, and a taller wind screen will be some of my first priorities. Love the linear torque of this engine, and the gear spacing is perfect for me! Very helpful that you have shared your insights so far, Robert, thank you!

Very thankful for finding your channel. I come from an Enduro and MX Background, also did quite some street riding and racing. But I was never really interested in Adventure Bikes, too heavy for offroad and/or too weak for the road, so I thought. Now, after 35 years of riding, I ordered, unseen, unridden, a Tenere. Mainly because of Adam Riemans Channel. But the content just gets broader at such a high level of Quality, I am so glad I chose a bike that seems to be exactly what I think is the best compromise on all terrains, making possible almost everything I would like to do with a bike, other than hardcore Enduro single trailing and high speed crazyness on public roads. Since I am not really keen to do either anymore anyways, I won't miss that. So, with your help, and that of Adam and possibly some others I maystill need to find, I can easily upgrade my bike and my gear with really helpful tips, brilliantly moderated, never boring, top notch video editing. Thank you from Germany. Will start looking for Handguards now, great relief for me, not to have to out on the heavy crashbars. I am also a no crashbar guy...Cheers, Jens

I have really enjoyed you vids. You have an easy manner about your presentation (thanks for doing them in english👍) and it makes it very pleasant to watch. Also, I was very impressed with your riding position when you were talking about how the rear rack supports your legs (minutes 9-10)....I have taken a few adventure bike riding classes and your vertical shin, bent waist and wide elbows are exactly what they’ve been teaching. Keep up the excellent work!

Yamahas are definitely boring and not the most sexy IMO, but they are the most reliable motorcycle manufacturer in the world (Although pretty sure Honda and Suzuki are basically within 1% as far as failure rate). So if I was going for an ADV I think I'd choose reliability over looks. I definitely don't want to be broken down on the side of the road. So I guess a Ducati Multistrada won't be in my future hahahah. I'm also questioning the need for 1200cc as well.

2:10 As a tip for repairing plastic parts on bikes. These plastic parts are usually made of ABS, so you can use specific solvents to chemically weld the pieces back together. In particular, I use MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) for doing this, and it works wonders. If you do it properly, you cannot even see that there's been a crack at all, and the weld is as strong as the plastic was before. Additionally, you can dissolve (ideally black) lego into some MEK to make an ABS 'slurry'. This slurry can be used to reinforce parts that you want, and when its dried out it is as strong as the plastic. Often I use normal thin MEK for fixing a tear, and add some slurry on the backside to make it stronger than it has been before. Btw I specifically mention lego above, because they are known to be pure ABS. You can dissolve any ABS in MEK to make that slurry (for example, if you have some left over fairing parts those work as well). The more pure the ABS, the better it works (so avoid colored plastics).

I noticed what could be a issue when you were standing and leaning back against the rack, your boot moved the kick stand down. I thought you might want to look into a kick stand bypass so when you lean back and the kick stand goes down it doesn't shut the motor off.

I see what you mean. It actually moves the side stand just by standing on the ball of your foot and flexing down. Even before resting on the rack. But very interesting. I wonder if i stand the same way when riding.

Jeez, I have been set on the 790 non R for months now since my dealer retails that one at the exact same price as the T7. I testrode the Katie and really loved everything about it. I really don't like the idea of abandoning the Quicksiifter, Cruise Control, 20 extra HP and everything the KTM has but The T7 gets so much praise while all I hear about the 790 is "oil leaks" here and "fogged up dash" there...
@NomadSweden4 жыл бұрын
Two quite different bikes. You need to ride them both and decide. Yama is simple and very smooth. The ktm is a rage machine. But you cant really use 20hp more off road. And the computer is there to tame it. But you must compare them. Perhaps the Katie is for you.
@jdubflylo4 жыл бұрын
As one who cut my teeth in dirt bikes, I like the tenere's simplicity. I dont feel bad about riding her hard with it worry about electronic malfunction or engine failure. It's simple and comfortable in knowing its built to last. It's not as performance driven as KTM... but I can live with in as it still performs great although I do like the slightly lower feeling of the 790 when going slow.

Thanks for the video. I'm fitting a set of similar hand guards, and I'm a bit curious how you mounted yours. I got the kit from off-the-road (German company), which has a mounting "kit", which is a bar end weigh replacement (very light), that is complete round, quite hard to tighten. From your videos it looks like you have the same kit. I'm a bit worried about getting them tight enough, and with loctite, getting them off one day (!). Also the clamps don't really seem to be possible to fit nicely, being flush on the handlebar. Either they don't sit flush on the guard "bar", or the are not flush on the handlebar itself. hahahaha hey... why do people say that bike gets a front wheel wobble??? is that true?
@NomadSweden4 жыл бұрын
I only had it on highwayspeeds, loaded rear and knobbies. That’s to be expected on any bike. I never felt unprovoked wobble.

Great review. I am looking to buy a new adventure bike. I formerly owned a 1200GS, but I don't want to spend that much money on a new one. I plan to ride about 25% off road (easy dirt fire road trails) and 75% on road, with some long trips planned. I am looking at the T-7 and the Triumph 900. I hear the Triumph motor puts off a lot of heat. I live in a hot climate and would not enjoy that. How will the T-7 be on long trips? Any other bike ideas? Thanks, Adam
@NomadSweden4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Nice to hear. The T7 is also a very hot engine so you need to get moving or turn off the engine. On long trips it's ok for me, but not comfortable like the obvious more touring oriented bikes. I just love the bike and take the good with the bad. If you go most road the Tiger is good, also if the Africa Twin 850 becomes reality that would be interesting.

@@NomadSweden Thank you. That is good information about the comfort and heat. Please keep adding videos. I enjoy your content and you have a very pleasant communication style.

More info on your little compressor?
@NomadSweden4 жыл бұрын
This is the one I have, but never used :) www.biltema.se/bil---mc/bilverktyg/dacktillbehor/kompressorer/minikompressor-2000028529 I stripped the plastics to make it smaller. Not sure I can recommend it.

I have been comparing the Honda CB 500X and this Tenere 700 for about a day now. And I was wondering if there are enough options for a shorter rider on this one (I'm 170cm). And how is the seat when riding long touring distances? I saw that there is a lowering kit and low seat option as well.. but I wonder if there are any aftermarket "touring seats" that are really comfortable in long asphalt stretches? And I'm leaning more towards this Yamaha because it seems to have enough power for both on and offroad. And I think there is a more touring oriented variant coming as well. /greetings from finland
@NomadSweden4 жыл бұрын
170cm should be no problems. I see shorter riders even without lowering. There are plenty of lowering kits and since the bike is so popular there are tons of after market accessories and more is coming every day. I can't recommend any seats since I haven't looked in to it. I am ok with the standard seat. Planning a 5 week 10.000km trip this summer so I will know :)

Hi Nomad Swede, great bike and videos. Can you tell me what quad lock mount are you using, i guess its a mirror mount option. Thanks for the time to read this. I have a pleasure of owning a T7 for few months already and am looking of getting quad lock myself. Cheers

Hi Robert, another great video thx. I noticed that you don't have your Motoz tyres in this video. How are you finding them?
@NomadSweden4 жыл бұрын
Guess i need a review of them soon then. They are great off road but can be sluppry on wet tarmac. Lasts forever. I had to take them off because the front started uneven wear and vibrate.

What about tyres life ?
@NomadSweden3 жыл бұрын
I have used many tyres on this bike. You mean the Pirelli Rally STR that comes original? I don't know because I took them off after 400km. Thet still had miles to go but I didn't like them.

@@NomadSweden and what about tyres life that you are using? Company name? Thanks for reply
@NomadSweden3 жыл бұрын
I am not sure what you looking for. Do you want long life or good grip off road? If you choose off road tyres they will last 5000km and if you want touring tyres you can get 15000 km.

Have you had any rust or corrosion on the spokes? I really enjoy your videos as well. Definitely help with my decision making on which adv bike to get next.

Hi and thanks! Well oxidation is there on the spokes but mostly theyre jusg dirty. No rust . Good luck on your choice. The middle weight adv market is exploding for sure.

How did you like the tankcapacity? 16 ltr for an ADVENTURE bike!!!!????
@NomadSweden4 жыл бұрын
No problems in Europe. I can go 350km and theres always petrol in that radius. If I need more I bring 3 litres extra. If you need more you bring it but it is very rare. Instead I don’t have a mega tank to haul around off road. I like it this way.
@Tarsys4 жыл бұрын
I say this cause i travelled with my tenere xt660z 100k onroad and offroad and sometimes did 500km on 1 tank. Anyway in the desert in Tunisia i was very pleased with my 23 ltr tank. And it is really a shock for me that Yamaha brings this 700 ADVENTURE BIKE with a 16 ltr petroltank, unbelievable!
@NomadSweden4 жыл бұрын
Im glad it’s this small. If I need more I bring it for that particular stretch. I can bring 50l if thats whats needed. Dont see the problem. But it’s more an offroad rallybike than a round the world bike. There are problems only if you look for them.
@Tarsys4 жыл бұрын
If it's more an offroad bike than it surely needs a bigger tank! But oke we agree to disagree!
@NomadSweden4 жыл бұрын
There are extra tanks to buy and rumor has it a larger tank version is under way also. So everyone can be happy 😃 Remember people going around the world on smaller tank. It's only up to the rider. Not the bike.
