Nomos certainly make a very nice watch Tony. What do you think of the Omega CK859 with display case back & manual wind ?

Cool. I will add that to my Q&A. I think it’s discontinued, but still. I’ll answer tomorrow. 🤙🤙

Great episode, Tony. You made many excellent points. I admire Patek's Grand Complications and Calatravas. I really like Nomos and given a choice between a $1500 Nomos and an unattainable $40,000 Patek, it is really a no-brainer. I agree with you that Nomos did not market the Club Campus properly. Also, the Club Campus should have a standard exhibition caseback, as their Alpha movement is beautifully finished.
@talkingtimepieceswithtony Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I agree. Nomos should put display backs on the club campus. You can actually buy them. It’s about $350. 🤙🤙

Not saying you’re content isn’t usually as engaging( because it is) but this was probably the best video for watch enthusiasts that I’ve seen in a while. This is what watch content was meant to be🍻👊

I love my NOMOS Club 36. If you're looking for an everyday, updated/retro watch, go for it! But get the exhibition back so you can appreciate the beautifully-finished Alph movement. It's very well designed and built, has a beautiful movement, and keeps time within 10 seconds a day. And take the extra money and buy yourself a few upgraded leather and pass-through fabric straps. You'll be a happy camper for a fraction of the cost. My other watch is a white gold Breguet Classique 3500 time-only. And I think I love them both as much.

Wow many Patek’s have non-hacking movements? That’s a deal breaker for me. Not that I’m able to get a Patek any time soon, LoL! Just surprised. Nomos makes some really cool watches. I’ve had them on my radar for a while, but it would have to be 40+ mm. I like how they show off their beautiful moments. In house, too, right?
@talkingtimepieceswithtony Жыл бұрын
Dude, they do make the club automatic at 40mm. Very cool brand! 🤙🤙

Great comparison Tony! Hope your feeling better. I like the Nomos…I picked up a Lady DateJust for my daughters college graduation gift. Working on getting a GMT Pepsi, supposed to get one by end of this year.

Monetary cost and prestige are not a complete logical indicator of what is better IMHO it is more or less if you want to purchase that status. Especially in timepieces and the current quality achieved. I prefer no in-house movements and to me that is added value for example.

I think you did an excellent job conveying multiple valid points. All things being equal, watchmaker ability, finishing and design, movement quality between the colorful Patek and Nomos. When you look at it that way, Nomos is incredibly underrated, and extremely affordable!

Usually I don’t compare Nomos and Patek as brand is not so important as long as they are classified as fun and casual watch. I have a Nomos watch and it is a dress watch. However I can easily change it into a casual watch by replacing the black strap with a colorful rubber strap. I have quite a lot fun and casual watches as I find that they can bring me lots of enjoyment and entertainment during weekends wearing. I use to rotate these fun and casual watches every week so that it has lots of fun for watch wearing. In the fun and casual class of watch, the built quality or craftsmanship is no longer important while funs and entertainment are far more important than the brand and price.

Tony! Love ya.. I felt ur energy was "off" yesterday hope all is well and better. Love the content as always! Bank for ur buck NOMOS is TOP tier. Hope the back is feeling better and your having a great summer out in Cali. Watchball question: Now the hype has come down and the market has leveled how long before we will see "basic entry level" watches available again in the window? I remember walking into my AD in late 2019 and they had 10+ watches in the window ( granted they were datejust and ladies watches) but still! Have a great night Brother

Nomos is excellent brand especially for price. Patek your paying for history, quality of material, movement and limited number of models. Tony consider doing a comparison of Glashutte Original to A. Lang & Sohne? If you can put A. Lang & Sohne up there with Patek then surely Glashutte Original is one of the best priced watch brands🤔

I’ve never owned or held a Nomos or a Patek, but I work at a hospital in “fancy”Upper East Side of Manhattan and I can tell from far away a Patek or a Rolex from far away from any other brands including Omega and so and so, I don’t know man but those two brands just shine different lol 🤷🏻♂️ no spec, details or what ever they shine different. And what’s funny is I spotted these Pateks in the wild on quite a few doctors, young and old and each one of them all tell me the same thing, “oh it was a gift passed down from my father”. I guess what I’m trying to say is if your rich and your son graduated medical school or law school or great achievement, you won’t get him Nomos as a family loom you get him a Patek, in the real world most Patek owners aren’t watch geeks like us, they don’t even know what they’re wearing and their fathers are the ones that went out back then, probably stumble on jewelry boutique like Mayors and asked what’s the best piece at the time, way before the hype and price hikes, and got a good time piece to wear. I mean is my antidotal experience and thought, I might be talking crap lol

I remember when I moved to the USA, I left a Montblanc pen at a laundromat in Astoria … thought is was gone forever but when I went back the following weekend , It was still there. When I told the owner how honest people were in that neighborhood, he said “not honest: unaware !”
